UberSocial for BlackBerry

The popular Twitter app UberSocial for BlackBerry has gotten a big update today! Version 1.20 has quite a few bug fixes as to be expected, but they have also added in some neat features. The first of those is called The Inner Circle, which allows you to add people to an exclusive timeline. You can set separate notifications for this timeline too, so you'll never miss out on the tweets you want to see. The Uber team has also added DealBox, which is a new feature that shows you customized deals near you. When new deals are available, a notification will appear on the icon in your Uber Bar. They have also added in support for Twitter's new photo service, authentication requirements, and enhanced image viewing and handling.

All-in-all it looks like a worthwhile update. Head on over to the link below for the full change-log and to download UberSocial!

this works great on non-touch devices but for torch its crap... too much ads and touch menu doesnt offer retweet :/

Really? Cause on my Storm 2, not only can I retweet, but I can do the old AND new ways as well. I imagine that it shouldn't be that much different for the Torch.

Twitter for blackberry is the best. No 3rd party could top it.

this is a good alternative when you are on paygo sim and do not have BIS access. it does all the function that the RIM twitter does. if only the UI was a little sleek, i'd used this over rim twitter :D

still a good app :D

SocialScope is still the overall best twitter app. Hands down.

Call me a simpleton, but I only have one twitter account. So T4BB is just fine with me, above and beyond that, I use the Social Feeds app for OS6 and my everything is in one tidy app... Facebook, Twitter, RSS, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger...

anyone else have an issue with having to click on tweets multiple times before they open on the Torch?

I have the same problem on mine too. And it's a problem only with Ubersocial cuz with Twitter 4 BB the problem doesn't exist.

that looks way too busy. even the twitter 2.0 minimized their own busy-ness. it's still twitter for bb for me. uber always killed my battery anyway.

If it killed your battery, you probably had your refresh rate to often. I leave mine at 20 minutes. If I ened a quick update it's as simple as menu/refresh.

I have tried T4BB, SocialScope, and others. none work as well for me as Uber does. Like any app, to each his own. No one app will be perfect for everyone.

I like this new version a lot. I like having the Dealbox. Though I would like to be able to customize that some (heck, I don't even know how it's configured by default...by cell tower location? by GPS, if on? etc.....You should be able to set a zip code for it.).

Tip: If you add someone to the Inner Circle and them take them out, their tweets may still show in the Inner Circle. Clear your cache and it takes care of that.

i does it have instant notification as the official twitter app from RIM?

Uber does not use push notifications, but that has never been a problem for me.

I love this app, and it just got better with the upgrade. Inner circle was an awesome addition. Sure Twitter has lists, but this in my opinion is a bit less time consuming and easier to manage. I have tried both T4BB and SocialScope, but I keep coming back to UberSocial. So many different features that I like.

This UberSocial is wack yo. That pic of it looks really ugly and Lord knows I ain't messing with anything that has ad's.. takes so much away from the experience. SocialScope murders it in a big way. Deleted ages ago as soon as my SocialScope invite came thru (when BB blocked Ubertwitter a few months ago). Also just deleted my T4BB like 2 weeks ago cos T4BB takes forever to Dl new tweets when compared to SocialScope.. thus murders the battery. Also, the push mentions only ever works off and on really unlike the Direct Messages that come through str8 waya. Instead i just have my email settings to send me an email when mentioned, retweets etc.. then check it on SocialScope.

SocialScope for the win no dizzzzoubt!

they just updated it to 1.201 also, fixed some bugs

joeberrymomma Jun 23, 2011 at 9:36 pm

1.201? I have not seen that.
Anyway, I really like Uber. Adds are not obtrusive. Has tons of great features - Uberchannels are awesome!
Tried SocialScope...okay but not as feature rich and could use some updates. Try getting any support from them. NOT!
Ubersocial is responsive to their users. No app is perfect and you have to pick the right one for you.

1.201 has launched last night..

The following changes were made from version 1.20 to 1.201

- Fixed bug where clicking Retrieve Map on the Tweet View screen does nothing

- Fixed bug where after logging into facebook it locks up the device for some users

- Dealbox icon can't be clicked when uberchannels screen is open

- Set it so that even if you have logged into twitter before, the twitter web page will always ask for username and password

- Fixed bug where Inner Circle icon on the UberBar might not be there the second time you run the app

- No longer will log user out of facebook on intermittent network issues

ubersocial is a great all round app, its so much better then T4BB but im about to test the new BETA T4BB anyways... all i can say with this app is although its UI is very friendly it can be improved so much, and DM's are done in seperate rows not put in to one single row for each convosation like on the T4BB.

I saw ubersoc say there releasing a new UI but not soon enough, but untill then i hope they release some more free themes as uber50 was a let down.
