Twitter for BlackBerry version 1.1.0.16 now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone

After the leak of Twitter for BlackBerry over the weekend, it looks like RIM has one-upped and released version 1.1.0.16 in the Beta Zone. The new version features a bunch of updates that keep it going strong. Along with the updated UI and another new homescreen icon comes Push mentions (awesome), geotagging, chat-style direct messages, topic autocomplete for hashtags and more. The update is available in the BlackBery Beta Zone, so if you're not a member head to the link below and get yourself registered.

When you map something in this twitter on the storm 2 you can Pinch to Zoom in or out of the map. it works quite well also

It's pretty much when someone mentions you, instead of waiting for you twitter account to refresh for you to get the message, it comes instantly. Similar to "push" emails

Why does only T4BB have this capability for push? Is there a reason someone like UberSocial (nee UberTwitter) can't develop push DMs? It seems like a killer feature. In fact, I use both T4BB and UberSocial on my device so I can get push functionality.

Tried to download 5 times and fails at different stages each time. Bat pulled a few times old twitter deleted and still no joy. Back to leaked version for me.

Apparantly 6th time a charm ha ha! Apart from icon I don't see much dofference in UI. See how it pans out I reckon.

Icon isn't an upgrade (why add the speach bubble??), UI isn't much different...

I'm not going to switch purely based on push mentions.

For now, I'm going to stick with UberSocial. If the official Twitter app comes up with an answer to the UberBar, then maybe I'll make the switch. All I know for sure is that the 2 days while UberTwitter was down, I was thoroughly unhappy using the official Twitter app.

I like it too, I think it looks nice. The speech bubble is a little different, and not 100% necessary, but I can understand it.

It seems like it fits in better with the rest of the icons with the bubble around the bird. I like it better than the Twitter "t".

You cant post an OTA, as it requires a key code which is matched to your PIN and BB Beta ID.

Anyone who does is also in breach of the NDA's that they sign when joining the Beta programs.

If I were to guess... His wife has it as her BBM pic and he saved the contact to his home screen. Just a guess though.

Not digging the beta. Weren't push notifications in the older T4BB because I always got a notification on my inbox when i received a @ or direct message. Gonna stick with SocialScope since tweets and everything loads much faster.

i downloaded the app, and got my keycode but it wont paste into the field. I can copy but when i paste it into the field nothing happens so i cant use the app. anyone know what to do to fix this?

I had the same problem. Instead of pressing the menu key and then selecting paste, I held down the track pad and selected paste. This method worked for me.

That sucked! My phone would not let me paste the keycode so I had to type it in. Could that keycode be any longer?

When I want to register on BB beta zone it says: "We're sorry, the application form is not yet available for your country. We are adding new country locations over time. Please be patient as we continue to expand across the globe." I live in the Netherlands. How can I get the new twitter beta? :(

Is it just me or is this the most cumbersome thing ever to get downloaded.....delete this, install that, sign in here, agree to this term, agree to that term, make sure info is correct, agree to another term, tell them the name of your unborn child, agree to another term....download.

I downloaded this last night, but getting the icon of the leaked .13, although I didn't have it installed (I'm on OS5). I prefer the icon with the speech bubble, to be honest. Will see if I can redownload to get the new icon.

Apart from that, the app is a little slow, but then again, it always was. I still love it though! I especially love the new look; It's fresh, and elegant, and the push mentions is long overdue!

I got Os5 and i have the .13 icon. and i've been using this ever since yesterday and have had no problems. i like tfbb now. so much that i've deleted Uber
