Twitter for BlackBerry - v1.0.1.7 now available in BlackBerry App World

With all the Twitter clients out there these days we cannot forget Twitter for BlackBerry. Those of you out there who make it your preferred Twitter client will want to hit up BlackBerry App World right now. The latest update has been released and while it's not a massive bump when speaking or version numbers it's a bump nonetheless. Version 1.0.1.7 is what we've all been treated too. If you're not currently seeing it in BlackBerry App World try refreshing using the ALT RSTR method. No change log at this time so be sure to share any findings.

Any idea of a change log?

I didn't notice any changes with this update. Never mind, I'm 3rd now.

Does it have RETWEET yet? If not stickking to SocialScope...
friedmonkey Nov 2, 2010 at 4:12 am
It's had retweet for a while now. You can also use 'Quote tweet' if you want to edit it first.

But that's just me, I only check my Twitter once a day.
Phony bologna Nov 2, 2010 at 5:33 am
To me, that's what made this app unusable. If 60 tweets hit your account since the last time you checked but you just so happened to back out of the app rather than hit the end button, you'd start at the most recent tweet, which drove me fucking crazy. I like how this app looks and functions, but because of having to scroll backwards in time to read what I missed forced me back to TweetGenius. That is the most idiotic thing to overlook on RIM's part. Did they not even test their app? How does anyone deal with that? From time to time I'd forget to hit end rather than backing out (habit), and after like the fifth time I did that, that was the end.

Title says it all really. I like this app and use it as my first choice twitter client but I can't understand why there is still no 'memory' of the last tweet read. It seems such a basic requirement for a twitter app. I know you can hit end rather than backing out and it will keep your place but like Phony Bologna I often forget and then you lose your place. Come on RIM give us an update that makes this a more usable app.

App World is so screwed up with its updates, sometimes I get a notification, sometimes I don't. Thank God for Crackberry.com
chuckcalo Nov 2, 2010 at 7:17 am
Hi. Any changelog?
crigga84 Nov 2, 2010 at 7:22 am
If Appworld isn't letting you have it, simply go to "Blackberry.com/twitter" on your phone.
Simples.

App World (for once) actually sent me the notice that the update was available. I just wish there was a change log to let us know what is new/improved in this update.
Gnome Nov 2, 2010 at 9:23 am
One change that I have noticed so far is the picture handling. When you click on a pciture it now shows the picture and the tweet indefinitely. In the past the tweet disappeared after a few seconds. To get rid of the tweet you can now move the track pad down and it will go or up and it will come back again. Only change I've noticed so far.
Edit: my mistake; the tweet disappearing still happens. Picture is bigger though.

Ahhh TfBB.......you make me glad I know Uber
kellidotca Nov 2, 2010 at 8:52 am
The one huge feature this app is missing is multiple accounts. It's by far my favourite twitter client, but i have 2 work accounts and a personal account.. logging in and out is a pisser.
MACKSnare519 Nov 2, 2010 at 9:12 am
You can always find the update on under 'options' for the app and hit "check for update", from there it fowards you to the BlackBerry Twitter page.
theninjasquad Nov 2, 2010 at 9:17 am
You can get the update in the app itself... go to the options and click 'check for updates' and it will take you to the site to grab the update.

Perhaps a stupid question, but how does one use ALT+RSTR?
What are the keys?
elvin1983 Nov 2, 2010 at 9:51 am
Press and hold alt, then press R-S-T-R and it will reset.
I only press R-S-T and it resets... never had to press the final R
Derwent Graphite Nov 2, 2010 at 9:58 am
that it is ALT+RST. Hold down the ALT key and press R, S, T separately.
If you have a Storm/Storm2 and are using SureType, just memorise where the RST letters are and do the same thing. You have to go to "My World" and hit "Show Keyboard" to do it too.

"!?123" + 34(. Hold down the "!?123" key and press 3,4,( separately.

Does anyone know if you can tweet your location yet? If so, how?

Twitter For BlackBerry is my favorite twitter client so far. I used to be an UberTwitter fan but that app got old really quick once TFB was released! I've tried Uber since but it just doesn't cut it.
The only thing I've noticed is the application seems to work a bit faster on my Torch.
peconicgp Nov 2, 2010 at 10:48 am
Like the T$BB but had to drop it untill it gets the open to last read tweet feature. Had to go back to Uber Twitter until they get that feature.
I have literally emailed BB a hundred times requesting this feature. I have been telling them I will switch back as soon as they get the open to last read tweet feature since i prefer all the other features and feel of T4BB. To date all replieshave been no more than a thank you for my response.
yASMiN37 Nov 2, 2010 at 11:56 am
Update? they never update this app except the version # lol all i ask is TFBB would have memory on my last tweet but never listen to the people that actually use the app but whatever use ubertwitter or blaq they never fail!!
uzuma Nov 2, 2010 at 12:49 pm
I still have a bug on mine. Everytime I go and click on link in a tweet it takes me to that persons account and not the link. I have to use menu > open link. Gay! Anyone got any ideas how to fix?
ab0rt Nov 2, 2010 at 2:56 pm
Until they get a hashtag picker like UberTwitter or something that remembers the hashtag from the tweet youre replying to for me it isnt even a discussion
The only thing it has over UberTwitter IMHO is that it doesnt use Plixi or MyPict.me which both SUCK
Coachbulldog Nov 2, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I use the BlackBerry Twitter app but, as several have pointed out, it does not have a multi-account feature. That is the upgrade I'm hoping for.
MisterNasty Nov 3, 2010 at 1:24 pm
Still can't open a link with one click. The first version you could.
uzuma Nov 3, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Same here. Gotta hit menu then open link. Gonna try and reinstalling see wat happens
TomoSnake Nov 4, 2010 at 2:30 am
Only thing missing in this app is push notifications for mentions and option for hi res picture uploads! 640x480 don't cut it anymore! Gps location on tweet and picture will be great too.
