Win an Invite Code to Download an Early Copy of Twitter for BlackBerry! Just leave a comment to this post that contains your twitter username.

Twitter for BlackBerry SmartphonesTwitter for BlackBerry Smartphones

It's no secret that Research in Motion has been working on their own Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones client for some time now. Word of it has popped up on the blogs a few times now and we've seen it make tweets and it has even been mentioned at recent BlackBerry launch events. Twitter users will be happy to know that today Twitter for BlackBerry has taken a big step closer to becoming a reality for users out there has RIM has announced it in beta form and made it avaliable for invite-only download from blackberry.com/twitterdownload. And you can sign up to receive updates from RIM on the availability of the Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones at blackberry.com/twitter. Right now, the invite-only beta is available in six languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese and it's looking like the beta should last "around a month" after which I can only imagine it will soon become available to everyone.

While Adam goes to work whipping up a video review of the new Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones client as part of his Ultimate Twitter Client Roundup (we'll report back soon with more), here's an exciting contest...

Win an Invite Code to Try the Official Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones App before everyone else: Yup, that's right, we were able to get hooked up with some extra invite codes and we're giving them away to lucky CrackBerry readers. We'll be spreading this one out.  We have a couple we'll give away tomorrow and a bunch more we'll announce to winners over the course of next week. To enter, just leave a comment to this blog post that contains your twitter user ID. While you're at it, why not tell us what features you value most in a twitter client. GOOD LUCK!

The only thing that would make this client better than UT is... ...ok, two things:

Message list integration (a la, Facebook and all other RIM IM apps) and push notifications.

Everything else is already done, and done quite well.

@troyshear

I tweet every day - and have 2,000+ tweets in under a year - so the faster it works, and the less times I have to attempt to re-send a tweet, the better.

Plus I post lots of photos too...

Basically:

1. Posting speed for tweets and photos
2. easy to read, sometimes ubertwitter is hard to read at a quick glance.
3. easy to view other's timelines - even those not following...

The features I look for are notifications, DMs and @replies mixed in with regular tweets, but highlighted in a different color, and the ability to change your profile pic from the app.

The best twitter clients separate your @replies, your DM's and your friend feed. They let you block and report spam from a tweet, and they autofill the Twitter ID's when you start typing their ID in your tweet. Also, spellcheck is nice.

I have tested just about every twitter tool out there, and I am excited to see what BB comes up with. I feel that the best tool will provide trending, GPS supported 'near me' functions, user searches, etc., but without the memory hogging seen in other tools.

I would be grateful to participate. I have tested software for a long time, both for home use and as part of my job in IT...

I'm a huge addict of BlackBerry and for Twitter especially for the Twitter Clients for BlackBerry...i always love the auto friend picker or usually called auto-complete to search for our followers / who we follow on a Twitter client...usually it will automatically come to the search bar when we write @ at the beginning..and it's really good to have that features in a Twitter client :) oh and it's really even better if we can tweet from our messages :) from our Blackberry.
and my id is @jetshinoda
