Today, some of you Twitter users are in for a treat. Available for most BlackBerry Beta Zone users is Twitter for BlackBerry 2.0.0.7. The update brings a brand new and very attractive interface, and seems to make better use of your BlackBerry's screen real estate. Other new features include:
- Redesigned Navigation Bar
- New Compose Tweet Button
- Single Search Screen
- External Notification- New app header shows you notification from other apps like email, BBM, etc.
- New Black/Chrome Color Scheme
Overall this is a great update, adding a lot of features. So if you are a Beta Zone user, head on over and check it out. Hit the break for more screen shots.

Mentions pushing isn't as instant as it was, it has some delay, and apparently they nuked the shortcuts (ex: alt+1 for replies tab, alt+2 for messages tab, ..etc) which was pretty handy. Oh well, the UI is pretty good looking tho.
Albert62 May 5, 2011 at 4:56 pm
They are working for me.. :)
velkcro May 5, 2011 at 3:52 pm
while i'm starting to get familiar with the UI i don't like the new icon i prefer the last icon
but that's just me.
rkopsie May 5, 2011 at 5:10 pm
Yeah, the new icon seems skinny to me, looks odd I prefer the last icon better & also its not transparent as before
theninjasquad May 5, 2011 at 3:55 pm
It doesn't really have any new features per say. It's just an update to some of the navigation and UI.
pfe1223 May 5, 2011 at 3:58 pm
I welcome the darker theme. I can't stand staring into a white or light colored screen. Of course, I am just now getting used to Social Feeds, so I don't know if I will go back to separate FB and Twitter apps.
crigga84 May 5, 2011 at 4:00 pm
Ugh. The screenshot above of what's trending, it has Ian Beale. A soap character in a British soap. So embarrassing that it's trending worldwide :)
alsawa2 May 5, 2011 at 4:03 pm
I installed it and it's so great
jfs101 May 5, 2011 at 4:10 pm
I like the pulling down the screen to refresh interface. Press T to get to the top, then pull down for a refresh...
AbuYazeedUK May 5, 2011 at 4:10 pm
Does it let you tweet longer than 140 characters?
Jflint66 May 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm
nope 140 is the limit but i seen it was brought up
bforbaker May 5, 2011 at 8:37 pm
That is a Twitter feature not an app feature.
simonstark May 5, 2011 at 4:11 pm
RIM should have bought SocialScope. It's THE best social app on any platform, period.
vishalsheth83 May 6, 2011 at 5:28 am
I disagree. I really like Social Scope for the ability to have twitter, foursquare, and Facebook all in one app, but as they say, a jack of all trades is a master in none, and that's what social scope is. For convienience, SS works, but in the end, the native Facebook and foursquare apps are still better and Issimo is the best twitter client with Twitter for BlackBerry being second place. Convienience is one thing, quality is another.
joeberrymomma May 9, 2011 at 7:29 pm
SocialScope is good. I have it, yet, if they really want to be a player, come out of private Beta already! What has it been two years now? SS has its limitations, however, the ability to update my status on FB and Twitter at the same from anywhere on the device, is great as well as the ability to set-up user tabs. What RIM is really missing out on is a Linkedin application. The one by Linkedin is marginal and not very well integrated. Bundle LI, FB and Twitter in Social Feeds ya got a power house!
SC457 May 5, 2011 at 4:11 pm
Better then the last one but still not on par with Über, they need to add something so you can start at the last tweet you saw instead of jumping to the top as well as something to know which ones you've already looked at.
DustBow May 5, 2011 at 4:23 pm
Agreed - until they learn to "keep your place" in the feed list I won't use it.
Dips May 5, 2011 at 4:46 pm
Yep, I'm waiting for this too. I'm sure quite a few others are as well.
joeberrymomma May 9, 2011 at 7:30 pm
Yup, SocialScope has this option. Beta Beta though!
kellidotca May 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm
Why does RIM refuse to incorporate multiple user accounts? So frustrating!
Coachbulldog May 5, 2011 at 4:25 pm
I also wonder why. Makes no sense to have a feature that every other 3rd party Twitter app includes.
DrLouie May 6, 2011 at 8:18 am
This is the one thing that I think is really missing from T4BB.
tumblingdice03 May 5, 2011 at 4:20 pm
I liked the last beta and so far ok with this one. I can't seem to find the quote a tweet option in this one yet though. Looks nice and no lag yet as I saw at times when closing the last version.
AnotherParakeet May 5, 2011 at 4:35 pm
Go to where you retweet. There's two options, one for quoting and another for retweeting.
theasianberryy May 5, 2011 at 4:39 pm
I don't know why it's happening to me, but for some reason I can't log into the Beta Zone on my BB browser....is anyone having the same problem and know how to fix it?
louboutins May 5, 2011 at 4:54 pm
I love it! I really like the colours too. Didn't like how I couldn't view my own profile from the top nav, but that's no biggie.
rkopsie May 5, 2011 at 5:07 pm
I have the Tour 9630 & this runs GREAT on it!.. Its super fast & runs smoothly!.. I recommend you download this / much better than the current official release!.
tumblingdice03 May 5, 2011 at 5:07 pm
Thank you AnotherParakeet!
W1zz May 5, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Why is this app still not allowing you to tweet longer than 140 characters using one of the providers?! - I see no reason to switch from socialscope to this until they have done so... I won't even bother trying it till then
joeberrymomma May 9, 2011 at 7:32 pm
I am limited to 140 characters on SS tweets. What am I missing?
RossyBoy92 May 5, 2011 at 5:29 pm
Got it and looks much nicer, didnt have to enter the activation key though :S
Follow me and ill follow back @Ross_Scott
BlueandWhiteBerry May 5, 2011 at 5:37 pm
Is there a way of changing trending topics from worldwide to country specific?
Mark1108 May 5, 2011 at 5:41 pm
It looks great! Can someone please help me with a BB-betazone account? I live in the Netherlands and they do not allow me to create an account... @mark1108 & 22A68BF8
velkcro May 5, 2011 at 7:59 pm
make a fake account and it should work
velkcro May 5, 2011 at 8:02 pm
sorry for the double post
LatinoLoco24 May 5, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Why still no option to see who has retweeted you? Or to see what you've retweeted?
Jleeblanch May 5, 2011 at 6:25 pm
I like the update! But then again, I like when anything gets an update lol ;)
The new redesigned Nav-Bar and UI are a welcome change in my opinion. It did take a minute to get used to the updated icon. Not that it's really much different, it's just a little skinnier but I like it!
Also, one thing I noticed right off is how much smoother the scrolling is in the Timeline (on a Torch).
Beyond that, I can't wait for some more updates :D
BBFTW88 May 5, 2011 at 6:46 pm
Giving this a go... I'm usually an avid uber user.
Those who are complaining about T4BB not keeping their place in the timeline, when you open the app, quickly highlight the tweet at the top- that's you last read. The timeline will then refresh above that tweet.
Phil DeLong May 5, 2011 at 7:19 pm
Or we could just use uber and not have to quickly rush to the last tweet we read before it's too late.
jem9777 May 5, 2011 at 7:51 pm
Or if you leave T4BB running in the background, it will always remember your last read tweet whenever you switch back. I have mine set to never update in the background (it updates automatically when you switch back) and there is no noticeable battery drain doing this.
brento May 5, 2011 at 7:18 pm
I like it so far..
Phil DeLong May 5, 2011 at 7:18 pm
UberSocial is still the better twitter client. The official still can't even hold my place in the timeline when I close it.
djdazm May 5, 2011 at 8:09 pm
It does if you use the "End Call" button and not the "Back" button, I believe.

BiG BaLLA 923 May 5, 2011 at 9:40 pm
I don't like the UI....kinda want to go back @BiGBaLLA 923
doubleaa25 May 5, 2011 at 9:53 pm
I still have not got myself fully aquainted with the new Twitter yet, but it is nice and worth the update.
yobecks May 5, 2011 at 10:15 pm
I just downloaded, and it didnt ask for a keycode, just went straight to the application. Something to worry about?
chefnilla May 6, 2011 at 12:44 am
I'll be "that guy". Downloading now.
Locksheema May 6, 2011 at 12:45 am
For some reason (I can't remember why), I moved over from the BB Twitter app to UberSocial. Which one would you recommend, BB Twitter 2 or UberSocial? I do prefer Uber to BB Twitter 1. Thanks for any recommendations
Morjesta May 6, 2011 at 12:45 am
soo gray, soo sad. :(
T3ch_Fr3ak May 6, 2011 at 1:36 am
Twitter for blackberry is still playing cathcup after all these updates, not really feeling the new color scheme & the new icon, plus barely any serious new features ... if ubersocial were to ever get push notifications RIM could just throw in the towel
carrickfergus May 6, 2011 at 7:23 am
Why can't they darken the tweet that you're reading more than just that off-white tinge? I can never tell unless I look at the highlighted avatar. SocialScope is still king. The one thing I like about SS vs. Uber (aside from FB/Twitter consolidation) is that on a retweet, it shows the avatar of the original tweeter with a small insert of the retweeter. It's cool and I don't think I've ever seen it in any other twitter app.
AlwaysActions May 6, 2011 at 8:38 am
its working great feel free to Follow @AlwaysActions on Twitter For Action Around The World
sommerface May 6, 2011 at 8:54 am
I do like the updates to the native Twitter app, but I still prefer Ubersocial.

jrsc109 May 6, 2011 at 10:32 am
Loving the new UI. Nice and crisp and clean.
Would love to have multiple account supported.
Would also like to accept follow requests from the app. It's a pain having to go to the website to review and accept.
Also - can anyone see the difference between Stripes and Bubbles? They both look the same to me.
Otherwise; I'm enjoying it.
BBFTW88 May 6, 2011 at 11:57 am
Back to uber for me. No where near as quick. Decided I'm not even going to bother trialling any more versions of T4BB
Gamesdmc3 May 6, 2011 at 8:06 pm
Never used it since i didn't sign up for twitter until Crackberry.com had the playbook contest, will half to try it out,it looks nice
mundakal May 6, 2011 at 11:13 pm
I installed this app and rebooted after install was completed. The twitter icon is missing. I can go into the applications list and see it listed but no icon. I have done a soft reset as well as a battery pull - no luck yet. I tried a different theme again NO LUCK. Any ideas to help me!
CrackMachine May 8, 2011 at 12:27 am
Have the same issue :-(
OutlandMoro May 8, 2011 at 7:06 am
Loving this new version of twitter. Alot more smoother than the previous laggy versions. Nice to see network icons too. Interface is sweet. It would be good if you could see the time aswell at the top. Always room for improvement I guess.
lxhxxnxxx May 20, 2011 at 12:07 am
anyway i can set the time to refresh new tweets > 1hour?
