Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones Beta Invite Code Contest Winners Announced!

It took the BlackBerry Nation by storm as it overwhelmed the Twitter world, and we offered up some free invite codes for the beta of the official Twitter for BlackBerry. Normally we don't pick the winners so soon after posting a contest, but we just couldn't wait on this one. Here we have 15 winners that will be lucky enough to get in on the official Twitter for BlackBerry beta. Full instructions for download will be sent via email by the end of the day Friday (if you don't hear from us by then contact sitesupport(at)crackberry.com). Great guy to follow. But if you are looking for a leaked beta, be sure to let us know how well they work for updates and such. Invite codes were used for a reason. ;)

The pilot program expires March 31st, but once RIM releases an updated build, all of the old ones are forced to update or they stop working - you have to enter your invite code to download the update.

I'm sure the latest build will always get leaked, but this is RIM's way of making sure leaks don't last very long (as well as making sure everyone is testing the latest build).

Can someone why RIM loves to put useless buttons on the menu bar? If i can get to a button 1 way, i dont need 2 other ways to do it like having an extra spot in the menu.

for those who didn't win... a few hours ago i sent a mail to twitterbeta@rim.com with the subject help, and in the message i ask for a invitation code, later (maybe in 1 or 2 hours) i received a mail with the code.

Just emailed them, hopefully I get a code! I have a working leak right now, but I'd rather not deal with having to find a leaked copy every time the build is updated.

Leaked OTA links don't fully install the app. Gotta do the desktop download/install (http://tinyurl.com/ykhdmlr). All in all, I know its not "released" yet, but not impressed. No RT's, no push @replies, no shortcut keys. Options are minimal, UI could be cleaner and more customizable etc. Play around. See what u think.

i downloaded the twitter from that link but then after its done, the icon is nowhere to be found. i have the 9630 Tour, is that OTA for some other bb device? :( i even did a reboot

I think that Twitter is good "battery saver", while UT or SS must run in background to receive updates, Twitter from RIM NOT and still receiving new tweets! Its works something like Facebook app, not runing on background but receiving data.

i agree, i think its pretty good for what it is so far today. and yes, there is room for improvement. the guys at Ubertwitter have been at it much longer so of course there is better. but, i have to say, saving on battery life is a HUGE plus with Twitter. so, i'm really liking that so far as well.

the only thing that is not told about that leaked twitter app is that it's only for os 5.0 and 4.7 and not for os 4.5 so sence no one else will tell you i will...

They named the links incorrectly but the files are there in descending order. I've only tried the 5.0 download and it worked flawlessly.

Love how it doesn't have to run in the background and still updates like previously mentioned. Just runs better because it is integrated with the OS. Glad I won.

I like the user interface and it works well except I never get any notifications. I guess those are only for the invited... Notifications are in the options and profiles but they just never happen...and I removed/replaced battery and sent service books just in case but it didn't help...but it shows my uploaded photos directly in the stream and the photos of other people I follow. It has some neet smooth transitions, it's integrated into menu structure for uploading photos etc... It does everything I use Ubertwitter for...just without the notification of new tweets and direct messages. I'm sure they'll fix that before it's released.

i got the leaked one and it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it!!! it's fast on my blackberry 8820 t-mobile with os 4.5.0.139 it rock's i can't wait for the out of beta release...thank you blackberry and crackberry...

What I value most in a twitter client is mostly status updates that appear on your homescreen and being able to post pixxx through my camera. Thats the bomb. And @repling on the fly is great too. =]
