Twitter for BlackBerry 4.0 now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone
It's been a bit since we've had a fresh new version of Twitter, but today RIM has released Twitter 4.0 in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. The new version comes with some great updates that were requested by beta users. Things keep moving along with this one and we should see an official release before too long.
New Features of 4.0 Include:
- Simplified NavBar
- Connect Tab with Interactions
- Discover Tab with Trends, Who To Follow and Browse Categories
- Me Tab with Direct Messages
- Attribution Tag Removal
If you're a Beta Zone member you can login now to get the update.

Nice to see RIM update but i am still pretty disappointed at luck of Url shrink with this app.

Just downloaded. Good to see the native apps being constantly updated.
Like the new, streamlined, Navbar.
Really hope there's a native Twitter app on BB10 - unlike the PlayBook...

Is it better than Ubersocial yet?
If there's a native app for twitter on BB10 it will be available for the Playbook.

I think it's been better for UberSocial for a while (although I haven't used UberSocial in about a year). The big thing that did it for me was quick access to direct messages and push notification. I had UberSocial set to pull every 15 minutes, which felt slow for direct messages, but still wasn't kind to my battery.
One thing Twitter for BB (v3) didn't do well, that UberSocial did was remember where I was in my timeline when I "exited" the app (really just moved to the background).

I'm trying it now and it still doesn't remember where you were, which is incredibly annoying.

What makes me stick with Uber is its Inner Circle feature which I think a good twitter app should always have. It's nice to always have a quick access to tweets of your friends. Does the new native app have this?

Is anyone else getting the "Uncaught exception: java.lang.Error" message upon rebooting? It showed up after this update.
Graheem Dec 4, 2012 at 12:52 pm
Yes, I did. Kinda hate when that happens.
lewisc1979 Dec 4, 2012 at 12:56 pm
It's not causing any issues as far as I can tell.

I hope this fix the showing via instagram links... I am getting sick of having to click on the link to see pics from instagram.. Then half the time bb browser doesn't play nice when the link and the pic doesn't show up at all.. Twitter for bb use to show the pic via instagram right in the tweet.. It doesn't anymore..

Adam - the picture you show - that is from the "old" version - right?
The latest 4 beta - there are NO icon for Lists on top anymore... now - need to click on your own profile, then access the lists... Very annoying...
Or perhaps (hopefully) there are some "hidden" feature that can access the lists?

I presume this will have a fix for the current version, which doesnt update my sent tweets list. So to see recent tweets i have to delete cache and wait for it to reload everything !

Really nice update, though I liked how it said "via Twitter for BlackBerry" or whatever app people use to tweet. But I really like the interactions tab, so we can see who followed us and who favorited our tweets. Very much like the web Twitter tab.

I just installed it and seems pretty good so far

DUDE FINALLY!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for interactions for months. I switched from iPhone to BlackBerry (yes, I really did that) and I really missed that feature. I have the problem everyone seems to have with mentions but not the "Uncaught exception: java.lang.Error".
