If you're a Twitter user patiently awaiting updates to Twitter for BlackBerry 10, now is your time to shine as the app has now been pushed into version 10.0.0.45. Sadly, there was no full change log added to the listing but having used it for a bit to see if I noticed any changes, it looks like 'pull to refresh' is now a bit more responsive. Other than that, nothing is jumping out at me so if you've grabbed the update and notice anything different then by all means, drop a comment below to let everyone else know what you're seeing that has been improved.

Sharing a tweet is now fixed, before it would only display the name of the person now you can actually share the tweet.
QuantumQnx Feb 19, 2013 at 6:34 pm
I was just going to write that but you beat me to it :-)

I think it's inexcusable that the built in, native apps like Twitter and Facebook are half-baked. BB can get somewhat of a pass for not having many popular apps available (as long as they actually follow through and get them into the BB store soon). But having bad ones out of the gate is ridiculous. Like they haven't already delayed things for over a year (meaning they've had more than enough time to get something like Twitter right!)

Twitter made the excuse of an app themselves. Facebook was however, made by BlackBerry and is good except for some strange bugs and a couple of missing features.

If it's any consolation, Twitter on Android, and especially on Android tablets, is terrible as well.
camera531 Feb 19, 2013 at 7:59 pm
It's not this half-baked...especially on phones
Thunderbuck Feb 19, 2013 at 8:15 pm
It's also had a couple of years worth of updates.
camera531 Feb 19, 2013 at 8:26 pm
True, but I remember their initial run, and the basics were all there

Still no option for multiple accounts.
hmmalex Feb 19, 2013 at 8:36 pm
Damn! I can live with everything else but multiple accounts is a must! We'll have this soon I hope.
Denenatse Feb 19, 2013 at 7:20 pm
Huh. No update for me yet.
ubermanx Feb 19, 2013 at 7:21 pm
No update as of yet for me on Rogers in Ontario, Canada.

I got it to work by opening the link on this site and downloading it on my computer, but I didn't see it till I went into the slide down menu in BlackBerry World.
Crisdean Feb 19, 2013 at 7:46 pm
Links opened in the Twitter client should be opened in Twitter. Not an external website. Please get that fixed!
ps4rh Feb 19, 2013 at 7:52 pm
Does BB10 even support that? I know Android does this very well via intents (I think), but I haven't seen evidence on BB10 that any one app can request a service from or hand off a stream to another app.
sk8er_tor Feb 19, 2013 at 8:11 pm
I'm sure I saw something about that capability on BB10 when BBRY was talking about an app within an app.
Thunderbuck Feb 19, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Absolutely, BB10 supports it. The trouble is that the webpart component doesn't support all the features of the browser (like, Reader Mode, for instance).
Probably better to support pics within the Twitter client and have web links call the browser up.
joickle Feb 19, 2013 at 8:28 pm
I disagree :)
Dugganm Feb 20, 2013 at 5:47 am
I disagree as well. I'd much rather see links opened in the browser rather than a limited version of it in the Twitter app
gregorylkelly Feb 19, 2013 at 10:46 pm
To be fair, the implementation of this on my iPad in a few different apps is horrible. Luckily most of the apps over the option to "Open in Safari" which is all I use. I don't know, but the browser inside other apps just don't ever seem to work right.
I know Android was mentioned as working well, but I've never tried it on Android, so I can't fairly comment on that.

It would appear DM now works.
kevinnugent Feb 19, 2013 at 10:11 pm
Speaking of Twitter on Z10, whenever I start it it sends me to the current time and I have to scroll back to read the older Tweets since I last started it. Why?
And how can I stop it doing that?
Dugganm Feb 20, 2013 at 5:51 am
Try opening Twitter in the browser. It looks exctly the same as the App BUT it does load tweets above where you last were!
No idea why the browser can do it but the app can't!
BBGeordie Feb 20, 2013 at 8:46 am
The workaround I use is to press & hold the latest tweet once you've reached the top. Then, using the side bar that appears, 'Star' the last tweet. At least then, when your timeline updates, you can find your last 'Read' tweet a bit faster by scrolling down the timeline until you reach the yellow starred tweet. Remove the star by repeating the Press & Hold action. Then move up through your timeline, not forgetting to star the top tweet again.
Doesn't work for retweets for some reason
Sounds more convoluted than it is !
ekafara Feb 19, 2013 at 10:31 pm
my phone wont let me update it, going to restart and see if it works.
ekafara Feb 19, 2013 at 10:37 pm
a restart worked

I hope we soon can see a real Twitter for BB10 - with a minimum functionality similar to Twitter for BBOS 7.x
camera531 Feb 19, 2013 at 11:07 pm
I find it strange that apps like Tweetcaster, eBay, mapquest and fandango, which are all available on BB7, aren't on BB10. Blackberry couldn't get prior supporting devs to bring these basic, popular apps to BB10 after ALL THIS TIME (not to mention BB7's twitter functionality).
gregorylkelly Feb 19, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Does Twitter for BB10 notify when new Tweets are available? One of the many reasons I returned my iPhone 4S was because it wasn't possible to get a notification for new Tweets. I don't know why it bothered me so much, but I really couldn't get past that....
Dugganm Feb 20, 2013 at 5:57 am
As in when you are mentioned in a tweet? At the moment, no it doesnt notify you. You do receieve a message in the Hub but there is no other notification other than that.
I would expect it to start notifying us in future updates.

Twitter is for attention whores. It was the first app deleted from my Z10
Rootbrian Feb 22, 2013 at 10:58 pm
So you say all people that use twitter, including businesses, police, government and the military, including me, are attentionwhores?!?! HOW IGNORANT OF YOU!! Idiot!
