As part of our Ultimate Twitter Client Roundup, Adam previously gave a run through of TweetGenius. With TweetGenius being one of the paid entrants some of you may not have been willing to check it out. No problem there now, as Boy Genius has just announced that TweetGenius is available as a free 30-day trial so you can give it full go. Loads of users complained that they would never dish out $7.99 for a Twitter client without trying it first, so here's your chance. The latest version you'll be picking up is v1.1.3 and devices OS 4.3+ are supported including the Storm.

Oh awesome, now theres the official twitter client theyre offering trial.
i wanted to try this out before, and i even was thinkin about buying it, but with the official client out i wont be doing that. so, thanks tweetgenius, but no thanks.
devGOD Feb 12, 2010 at 5:38 pm
you're going to see a lot of twitter bb apps slashing prices, doing giveaways and offering trials not... but like you said they're too late. time for them to start making another program, why buy something you can get for free.
c0rinne Feb 12, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Yea, I don't know why the naysayers were naying, but I really like the official twitter client.
I have TG, but I doubt I'll ever use it again. A waste of $5 (when it was $5).
rion_j Feb 12, 2010 at 2:08 pm
agreed, the official twitter client is actually very nice and not a memory hog like TG. i still like UberT, but I'm going to stick with the official for ahwile and see how it goes.
Thade Feb 12, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I bought TG and there is no option in the profiles for new tweets. so when you get a new tweet nothing happens. so if you don't check it you won't know it has arrived. I emailed Beejive 7 times to try and get some help or an answer and there has been no response. So beware of this app
nyc_rock Feb 12, 2010 at 2:41 pm
Title says it all. If you have ever had an issue with beejive IM app, you know what Im talking about. And to your specific issue, they have the same exact problem with thier IM app. When you get a response, it will be "this is a blackberry OS issue". No matter how many times I tell them that every other app has figured this out, they keep saying its OS related.
gameboy213 Feb 12, 2010 at 3:05 pm
you can have an alert for new replies and or dm's. when you get a new tweet the icon shows on the top of your device.
That's all I need.
ServiceAceStud Feb 12, 2010 at 2:09 pm
Nay, memory monster like all beejive stuff. Not worth it with seesmic, twixtreme, uber and open just as established. I'd rather use mobile web twitter on opera/native browser than pay.
Roweazie Feb 12, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Hi, ubbertwitter?
3man Feb 12, 2010 at 2:12 pm
It wouldn't hurt to have an extra twitter client, especially with a 30 day free trial of a payed app. Its all about supporting.
SteedMo Feb 13, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Oh of course Mr. Richie! I bet you'll buy all the trial apps for "supporting" them! Hmmmm well..... So generous of you!
SanaTizer Feb 12, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Wow, that took a lot of complaining to get such a simple feature added. Too late now though.. ubber twit and the rim client is coming out (if you didn't get it yet).
wojtas25 Feb 12, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Ha ha ha! To late TwatGenius! UberTwitter & SocialScope beat you, and now Twitter for BlackBerry from RIM, all these apps are 100% FREE!!! And better!
fail TwatGenius! You suck! LOL
David2g Feb 12, 2010 at 2:51 pm
tried urban and twitxtreme. ill give this one a shot and compare to offical tweet app by bb. So far its better than any other i have tried. like how when someone tweet a pic you can see it instead of a link to go to slow bb web page.
Nyce-Daytona Feb 12, 2010 at 2:59 pm
TweetGenius is in serious need of an update. The app is great, but is begining to get left in the dust by Ubertwitter and others functionality wise. Just my 2 cents.
kf6kmx Feb 12, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Downloaded the trial and glad I did.. I thought I'd like it, but its having all kinds of problems... Not worth the $ when the RIM one is free and all screen shots looks better...
After the hype I heard about it form people using TG, I expected it to be great. But its missing a lot of stuff I expected it to have, and most of all one 6 attempted tweets since I installed it, only ONE has gone out.. others say there is an error try later, then erase the long entry I had...
LESS than impressed.. and glad I havent paid $7 for this... I think I'll be staying with the official RIM one when its out.. hopefully it lives up to its hype... I have higher hopes for it since RIM has more access to the device than the others and it should be pretty well integrated!
Lefty923 Feb 12, 2010 at 3:14 pm
'Bout time. How about a price drop?
dboutet Feb 12, 2010 at 3:46 pm
is anyone else as sick of twitter and twitter clients as i am? or is it just me?
rezn Feb 12, 2010 at 4:26 pm
And whoever said BeeJiveIM had terrible customer service is just an angry person. When I first got my BeeJiveIM App for my last berry I had an issue with YahooIM working on it and They Emailed Me EVERYDAY until it was resolved. That's A+ customer service in the BlackBerry industry. I never felt belittled by my confusion only thankful the money I paid was well worth it. Oh and the BeeJiveIM app is sick. Pretty sure they offer a 30 day free trial too. Go check it out and stop listening to these oth goons. That's what I did now I deleted GoogleTalk, Yahoo and I only roll with BeeJive. And Tweetgenius is for BlackBerry Power users.. I'm sure Boy Genius and crew would rather people who don't fully understand how to use their BB's didn't buy and waste their time with stupid questions and/or suggestions. People who know Twitter, love Twitter and enjoy BlackBerry to it's fullest potential Use TG. I have The New RIM BlackBerry Client also SocialScope v0.9.5.81 and I Beta Test for Uber.. All are fantastic in their own ways. Grr to stupid people!
katiepea Feb 12, 2010 at 7:14 pm
all you have to do is look at beejives forums and you'll see how bad their service is. their forums aren't even normal forums, it's piles and piles of people with issues that can't get help from their support team. it's a joke, and now that RIM has an official twitter client, i'd say tweetgenius is on it's way out the door. i've used tweetgenius since the day it came out, and it's done nothing but eat memory and slow the phone down, so it's no longer in use.
zarzamora_hermosa Feb 13, 2010 at 2:02 pm
I cannot speak for their forums, but I know that when I bought BeeJive I had some setup issues and e-mailed them. I got fast and accurate responses immediately and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Maybe TweetGenius is different, I do not know. But I agree, it is more likely on its way out than on its way in.
HeyPops Feb 15, 2010 at 2:27 pm
Go look at BeeJive's website, all the "support" links are for their other apps, not TweetGenius. While there is mention of e-mail support at "support@thetweetgenius.com", they NEVER answer the e-mails, not even with a automated reply. You may as well be putting them into the bit bucket yourself.
I have never seen such terrible support, excuse me... TOTAL LACK of support from a product that you must purchase. I could understand that from freeware or Open Source stuff but not a purchased product.
I like the app but it has a couple of issues which need to be fixed but with NO SUPPORT, how can those issues be raised.
Bold_9809 Feb 12, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Oh..so there's a trial for now??
This app is really a fail..
I wish I never bought it!!! :(
zarzamora_hermosa Feb 12, 2010 at 7:00 pm
Shouldda considered the wishes of potential customers sooner... I was eager to buy it, but not willing to dish out the $$$ without a glimpse of what I was getting.
Now that RIM's making their own, TweetGenius is frantically trying to woo buyers.
Rockdog97 Feb 12, 2010 at 7:07 pm
I just downloaded and installed it.. used it for about 5 minutes. it seemed so freak'n slow... so I deleted it and will stick with Ubertwitter..
can't wait to try RIM's version once it comes out.
Iron_Hide Feb 13, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Like a lot of folks here, I have tried just about every Twitter App available for the BB.
I paid for TG when it was $4.99 and enjoyed it for a while. The new version, however, has been nothing but buggy and I am unable to send any Tweets! - Deleted.
I loved YATCA because of its tight Integration with the inbox and I see that RIM'S Twitter App, as to be expected, does the same.
Seesmic is not bad, ÜberTwitter is great for those who love having the ability to tweak EVERYTHING and Open Beak is.... functional.
All in all, RIM'S Twitter App is quite decent. It is not a memory hog, its integrated into your inbox (if you want it to) and I love how it handles inline pictures from TwitPic. Some have said the interface looks cluttered, but I quite like it. I would like to see RIM give us the option to hide the upper menu bar, so we can see more Tweets in our timeline.
I also use SocialScope and am (im)patiently waiting for the update which I hear is quite nice.
I can see myself happily using RIM's Twitter App and SocialScope for its FB integration (the BB FB app stinks). Good job, RIM. A little tweaking and you'll have a sweet native Twitter App on your hands. What more could we want? (except for them to fix the FB app!!)
zarzamora_hermosa Feb 14, 2010 at 12:26 am
I wanted to love this app. I am on my second day of the free trial and I have never seen my Curve 8900 act like this. I have never seen the clock icon display so many times. I usually have about 140MB free; I have very few apps on my device, so memory is not an issue.
BUT, in the last two days, my BlackBerry has actually froze; that has NEVER happened before and now it has happened twice while trying to use this app. And the constant clock icon (hourglass) is ridiculous. TweetGenius could not satisfy me for two days even though it was free.
FunkyDog Feb 14, 2010 at 12:53 am
I'm now on the official app and still love Ubertwitter. Nope not paying when there's free and better alternatives.
