Coming to London? Tube Map for BlackBerry 10 gets updated with a ton of awesome enhancements

Tube Map
By James Richardson on 6 Mar 2014 05:47 am EST

We posted yesterday that myTrains from mxData had received a rather special update. The same has also happened for their London Underground app - Tube Map for BlackBerry 10 and it too has got super smart.

Tube Map has been around for some time - first on legacy devices and the BlackBerry 10. But things have now been taken to a new level thanks to mxDATA working alongside BlackBerry to make Tube Map very clever.

As you'll see below there's a bunch of new stuff, but having push notifications, a real time Active Frame and BBM integrated just for starters is pretty sweet.

  • Official licensed Tube map from TfL (Transport for London).
  • Smarter Travel enables you to set home and work stations plus manage a commute schedule all from the Tube Map Menu.
  • Commute Schedule - Push notifications keep you updated on any real-time issues or delays.
  • BBM integration - Your BBM profile box will be updated while you travel, letting friends know you're on the tube.
  • Additional map features all stations that support Oyster PAYG services.
  • Route Planner - Enter station, address or point of interest as your start and end location then let Tube Map plan your route.
  • Lost? - Find your nearest station to get you back on track.
  • LIVE departure boards and station information.
  • Access QUICK departure view just by selecting a station on the map.
  • Active Frame - See real-time information that's important to you. Tap the Frame to re-open Tube Map. It's that easy.
  • Twitter integration – access to Tube Map's aggregated feed of Status and News Tweets

Tube map is free to download for all BlackBerry 10 smartphones. If you're heading to London or already live here this one is a must have app for your BlackBerry.

Just in time for Saturday :-D

Will work great on your mobile phone, deep underground, with no cell coverage, no WIFI (at most stations)... ;-).

Awesome Z10 on 4G EE. BBM 2B80D5C2 or Tweet @geekl33tgamer :-)

I have wanted the real time active frame updates for BlackBerry Maps. Nice to someone has jumped on it for a GPS app.

Why yes! I'll be there on Saturday. I'll be using this app.

Very good update. I love the way it uses my location, finds the closest tube station, and displays the train times in the Active frames.

Bringing sexy back on my Q10SQN100-3/

I was visiting the UK the other the day and this app along with the myTrains app made it so easy to get round!

This is super handy! Finally ;-)

Love this app and use it regularly so can't wait to try the upgrade.

Ah, looking forward to using the update.

It's a great app.

Can't wait to try out this app in the summer when I'm in London.

These are the kinds of apps that they need for every major public transportation entity in every major city of the world... this is "useful"...

This update is dreadful. The lag when scrolling around the map is ridiculous. It no longer 'bumps' at the edges either, so you just scroll into nothingness. Removed the Oyster function too.

Unusable for me now.

Bacon Munchers

I remember hearing negative comments from the folks in the UK, regarding how BlackBerry does not offer enough support for this, so it is good news that this is offered.

dammit...this would've been awesome when I was there a few weeks ago
