Trillian for BlackBerry beta now available for download

Just yesterday we posted that the Trillian instant messaging application would be arriving in beta form on BlackBerry soon. I guess the folks at Trillian weren't kidding. If you head on over to the mobile download page for Trillian you'll find that version 1.0.0.204 is now available for download. The beta they are offering up is trial limited, so at some point it will indeed expire but they do not indicate when. Having used it for the past day, I suggest downloading and giving it a try. The list of supported devices can be viewed via the Trillian website and yes, the BlackBerry Storm is supported already. As well as the BlackBerry Pearl 3G although the website does not indicate that model. You can also share your thoughts on it here in the comments or in the CrackBerry forums.

I had the same problem so i deleted my facebook login and retried and it worked. Give that a try

tried beejive..its a power hog and doesnt do skype..IM+ was far more energy efficient.. not as pretty.. but more effective

Change your browser identification to BlackBerry and go to trillian.im/ through your BlackBerry browser only

Click the BlackBerry Button. "Add Chat" Select the service your contact is on. And then type the username (not the display name).

I'm unsure as I have been registered on the Astra network for years now. This sounds like a Bug.

What OS are you on? How many apps are loaded on your BlackBerry? Did you try to uninstall the app, reload your BlackBerry and then reinstall it? They can't fix these types of Bugs if we don't tell them that they are there.

Same thing I said to the others. Try uninstalling the program, restarting your Berry and reinstall... If that doesn't work submit a bug report.

I downloaded it and tried it out, only to find out it doesn't seem to work properly. It is locked in portrait orientation, for one, so that forces me to use the condensed suretype or tiny full keyboard. On top of that, I struggle with the T-9 input method to set up an account only to find that it doesn't do anything when I confirm the details. I don't like BeeJive anyway, so I think I'll stick with the wonderful official Windows Live Messenger that hasn't been updated for a considerable time.

This feature request is in the Trillian Forums already. Please check back for an update. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon. Also, check out our "feature request" thread at the trillian forums and add any other features you think should be added.

i would like it to group contact list for each IM account. So the list on 1 of my msn accounts will be grouped in one group in the contact list and my other msn account will have it's contact list group in another.

also, can u add a preference where i can change the size of the text in the contact list. i would actually like it smaller so it can fit more contacts in the screen at once!

Skype Chat support is in the feature request thread. The other two have been added.

Beta applications should still open without throwing api error messages about secure modules. Have no idea what that means, but I can't use the application, so it's gone. Too bad, I liked the desktop application for this.

Will not allow me to be signed into Astra on both desktop and BlackBerry clients. One or the other. That's a little frustrating. Also, the contact status icons are a little finicky about showing up.

Are you a Pro user on the Windows client?

Multiple signons are a Pro only feature. Along with other cool feature you can currently get Trillian Astra Pro for $15 (down from $25)

How do I switch in between aim and facebook? And is there a way to set the messages to appear on my main message list?

With Trillian you don't switch between the services. They are all on there at once. If you're talking about on a metacontact click the spacebar and it will drop down their individual contacts. You can chose from where to send the IM.

That feature request is the first one on our feature request page. Hopefully they get that added in very soon.

Anyone know how to deny a contact request? I keep clicking "deny" and yet the request is still in my list and if I "end" the individual chats, the requests pop up again when I log back in.

Installed and everything seems to be working well! First thought is I'd like to see Messages integration like other IM apps. And the LED alert blinks even after the message has been viewed; had to turn it off.

What colour is the LED alert? I have set a BugZilla report for something similar, so any further information would be helpful.

In the BlackBerry profiles set the LED alert off. And use the custom LED alert in Trillian. They're working on this.

How do you add people from Facebook and stuff?

The FaceBook plugin pulls the users from FaceBook's servers. I don't think you can add them individually.

For the others click the BB button, "Add Contact" set the service and fill in the required fields.

This sounds like an important bug. Have you tried it again since the servers are probably not as packed right now?

If it still doesn't work make sure to log onto the Trillian forums and report this bug using all important information. BB model and OS build, Trillian for BB build # (1.0.0.204 currently) Thanks!

So far I would like to see a auto login / reconnect. And message integration. And the push while the app is closed is yet to work. Other that I think this might be a keeper.

yes cool app for it only being a beta, BUT YOU STILL CANNOT SET INVISIBLE MODE for GTALK protocol. WTF IS SO HARD ABOUT THIS for blackberries?!?!

um...works fine on fb so far...not really understanding, the myspace portion of trillian...it would be amazing to have all social apps in one place...no landscape for mode...ah...Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Could not create a new account, same captcha information loop as mentioned above. Went onto the website via computer and created an account and signed up the messaging services I use.

Attempt to log in on the phone spins for a few seconds then returns "Some error during connecting to server." I cannot connect or use the app.

Had the same "Some server error" issue. What I did was go into preferences.. and try the different connection options i.e BIS, WAP 2.0, Direct TCP connection ...etc.

Mine did not work on BIS but did on WAP 2.0 without any issues. Chances are thats gonna make it a massive data consumer but hey... thats life. Anyone else get theirs to work on BIS? please holla back and let me get mines.

Tried downloading and reinstalling twice. Nothing is happening. Registered an account name.. But when I try to add another account for facebook or aim it doesn't let me do it

works slick, the only thing i dont like...no landscape mode..makes it hard to type. but everything works great.
Also would like an indicator of when the other person is typing.

Same thing here. Quite funny actually, an IM client I can't add any IM clients to. Ha ha ha.

For those who struggle with the facebook login, once you put your name into the app, it opens up facebook for you to sign in, if you sign in, it takes you to ANOTHER signin page, where you have to....sign in again, after doing this, it connects Facebook Chat to your phone!

I can't get the menu to work on my 9700. When scrolling down or up through the list of accounts when trying too add one it jumps and misses out a few making it impossible to select most accounts. I had the same issue when setting up my account. This makes the app unusable for me as I can't add the accounts I want. Anyone experiencing this issue?

loaded it on my tour this morning without a signal issue. Was able to make a new account, logged into and use facebook, aim, wlm, and gtalk with out a problem. Find it kinda cool that it uses a green LED notification instead of the normal red but the flash seem brighter and faster. Still very neat :)

AND I can finally chat on fb onbmy phone. I hope this thing is free else forget it. only problems I have is no landscape kb and if u get kicked off sign in won't work anymore; you have to restart the app.
Awesome app; one of the most useful on my phone rite now.

It's not going to be free. Cerulean Studios is a very small company with only 11 people working there including the owners. But it will be cheap. The iPhone/ iPod app is only $5.

If you consider the comparative prices of BB apps vs iPhone and Droid, I think we're going to be looking at a $10-15ish price tag. I'm hoping not, but it really wouldn't surprise me.

The Captcha Bug is known. And they are working on it. Just talked to one of the head developers and he described it to me. It's being worked on for the next build.

I logged on to the Trillian site and set everything up (yahoo, google, fb...etc.) I have had no problems since then. I've always loved Trillian, so I'm very happy at this point.

Great application, I would absolutely recommend it to everyone for at least a quick check out...

Question though, is it possible to be "invisible" on facebook chat? Example: see who's online but not appear online myself? Haven't been able to do so as of yet....

well i am trying this out i use im+ and my first gripe is the whole chat interface i don't like the way it looks also i would like it so that i can have it display all online contacts together instead or having to go into each tab to see who's online...

JStray, me too. I am hoping they move the folders in the finnal version or at least allow them to be hidden. I don't like the list of additional folders that are app related!

First change the app data to be saved somewhere on the SD card. (takes up too much space on the BB IMHO so they added that feature)

In the Pictures app BB button , options , scroll all the way down and click "exclude folders" now click on the folder called "Trillian"

Hope that works for you.

i have a issue transfering the trillain file that i downloaded to my pc. i believe i set everything up right. the download file was set for my phone type. the version software is updated. when i went to app loader, i pressed browse seleted the file. and it sayed this file is not compatable with ur phone.

Go to Trillian.im from your phone. Make sure your broser is set to BlackBerry. You should be good.

I deleted the pics that were appearing in my picture folders and now I can't get those avatars to show, I reinstalled and deleted my fb account on trillian and redid it but they won't come back, anyone know how to get them back?

Try deleting the app, restart and reinstall. Change the data folder in trillian preferences to your SD card. Then in pictures app options exclude those folders.

Just so you know I downloaded the Trillian beta app., and to make a long story short after running it for the first time and registering it (my blackberry had half a battery left) and in the midst of running the program for the first time shut off my blackberry and my battery completely died. and i was unable to run my blackberry. I thought something happened to my blackberry and i called verizon to ship me a new blackberry but after keeping my blackberry in the charger (usb) it finally turned back on with no battery....and had to call verizon to cancel the order. but just beware incase this happens to you i also got a text msg from a :6200: saying "\\brew:0x01017246: type=sas:UI=1; CONT=..:" whatever that means?

i downloaded the program, and it installed however when i go to register for the first time it keeps coming back with "some server ererror. Please try again later.. It's been doing that for a day.. i have the at&t bold 9700..

I had the same problem adding accounts but i went online logged in via the web to the Astra application and I was able to add there to my hearts content, hope that helps the few having the same issue.

Nitpick not a bug you cannot increase the font size and I am literally Half blind so it makes it tough they should allow you to adjust font size via the BB itself.

Feature Request:
USE AutoText! I want auto-capitalization (or the option) and especially the auto-periods when you press the space bar twice to end a sentence.

I'd also like to see integration with the Messages box as well.

Trillian is running very well. No errors or hiccups yet. I've been able to log into everything except Yahoo. It says it's connecting and then craps out. I haven't been kicked off any IM networks I've been logged into and the app hasn't crashed.

Great app.
Please restart app before thinking you're having bugs, altough they do exist.
After a day of use I can say this app is very useful.
In the other hand, I find my battery life reduced after using it, still can not set my Display Name and Avatar on WLM, and would like larger avatars and fonts. Many of us dislike those small unreadable words.
But it's very strong for being a beta.

Is anyone else finding Facebook friends pictures showing up in your picture folder on your device when logged into Facebook chat?

Also, when using Google Talk, you now have the option to send a photo. If you take a picture and send it, the recipient gets the picture sideways? Anyone else finding these issues???

Dwld on Sat afternoon, OTA, went pretty Quick, is 1.9mb install on my 9630. Runs very smooth, I like it better than IM+ free. Pulls groups down from Native IM App, so if you have "friends" or Family" groups etc they are in there already and can be closed/expanded with ease, IM+ doesn't allow for this, plus if you would leave your gacebook on for a while with IM+ you would have this list of contacts to scroll through a mile long. I have been a Trillian user on a PC for years, since beta for Windows. This is a very good App, will be worth a 5$ price tag when it goes gold.
Had no issues connecting any of my accounts, FB, AOL, MSN, and Yahoo.

I have a BB 8330 running os 4.5 and I can't add any of my AIM or facebook. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it 3 times with no luck. I can sign into Astra but that is it.

It looks to be a very good app once they work out the kinks. definitely needs larger fonts and avatars or a font size selection option would be even better. GUI is very neat and sleek especially the black theme. the fb chat msgs get sent/received much faster than beejive. i hope it stays that way thru the upgrades. lots of little bugs though had to restart app a few times because it wouldn't let me scroll up to my open chats from my contacts list. a few other bugs i cant remember @ the moment but im definitely looking forward to the upgrades. Oh Yeah The option to access msgs from my msg folder would be a plus too.

When I go to trillian.im to download Trillian, he passes directly by Appworld, But Appworld is not available in my country, I can't use it.
Is there a way to download Trillian Without passing by appworld, Like OTA or sending the link to download by mail ?
I tried all the links like :
