Rogers Communications BlackBerry users are back on-line in most places in Canada but areas of Southern Ontario remain affected.
Some Rogers Communcations customers are reporting that data service is still out, although the phones still work. And with Toronto being the center of the universe, it is wreaking havoc in business circles.
Rogers website and technical support call center are back up and running as of this morning.
The cause, according to Rogers spokesperson Taanta Gupta, was a cut in the fiber used by networking provider Allstream to bridge Rogers and Research In Motion's mobile networks and routing facilities.
Unlike last week’s BlackBerry outage caused by RIM, this appears to be an accident that Rogers had no control over. And unlike RIM, Rogers were quick to get the info out to its users. We’ll keep you updated as things change.
