TIME Magazine, one the most read and notable magazines in the world has just launched a great application for its BlackBerry toting readers. The application is perfect for those on the go who want to have TIME articles pushed to their devices. On top of being able to read all the articles posted you also have the ability to browse through all the award winning photgraphy put out by TIME magazine. All content is user customizable so you can pick and choose the information that's most important to you.

kept freezing my tour...i had to delete and redownload...but its pretty cool..its gonna help my train ride go by faster

I loaded the Time app, and it froze up. I couldn't open it. Turned the phone off and did a battery pull. Still froze. Unloaded Time and then reloaded it. Still seemed to freeze up a little, but could open it, but was slow and locked up on articles. Changed the "Advanced Option" (within Options) of Network Configuration from Auto to BIS and now seem to work perfectly and fast. If you want it, don't give up. It does seem to work on the Tour.

yea...i actually changed mine to BIS too and it worked...i like this app. I have AP news and Time...great two apps to help my daily commute

After I did the above, it's been working perfectly on my Sprint Tour. It is a nice app. No locking up, sluggishness, or problems at all. Works as well as my CNN app, if not better.

and it doesn't seem to recognize my hardware, can anybody else confirm that this app will not work for the storm running 5.0?

if someone can post another OTA link, it would be much appreciated.

I'm using a Bold but when I go to the site and click the button a page comes up that states I need to have a supported device. In the subsequent list, the Bold 9000 is present!

Anyone else have this happen?

Im using a Bold with OS 4.6.282. I had no problems at all. Try a batt pull and retry.

I too had their "old" launcher previously installed.
This is a new version (v3.0.0.91 @400k) where you can set periodic updates as well as transport from within apps "Options".

Won't a push app like this quickly eat up lots of available memory. On a Curve 8320 with limited memory, like I have, I think it would quickly overwhelm the device.

I would really like this app, but when I try to download it says that I should download from a supported device. I am using a 9630 Verizon Tour, and it lists the Tour 9600 series as supported. Any ideas on what is up?

try updating your browser emulation to blackberry, if the site can't recognize you're on a blackberry browser it'll refuse to install apps

Can someone explain what the fascination is with these dedicated apps? WSJ, AP, Forbes...now Time. What is the benefit over the mobile website?

Usually, dedicated applications have an interface designed specifically for your device. Therefore, they usually look better, and more importantly, perform better than just loading a generic mobile website alternative.

Nice app on my Storm - just needs to be able to change the font size of the articles (is there a way? not that i could find).

Why have a device app vs just going to their mobile website? Many reasons:
- offline content access
- push of the content to you, if you want it
- quicker and easier navigation of the pages and content
- just overall faster and easier to use and load up the info

You can net it out like this - for the same reasons you prefer to use the BB's on-device dedicated email app as opposed to just going to a web view of Yahoo or gMail or Hotmail or whatever. Faster. Simpler. Easier.

Some folks (like me) like a dedicated app; others are fine with using the web or a launcher. To each his own.

downloaded program and it is extremely slow to load, use and close. had to pull battery twice cause my phone locked up. I use a verizon storm phone.

Well, I did switch from AUTO to BIS after my initial launch of the app locked up my Tour. It managed to load, however, while scrolling around to look at the available articles it locked up once again.

Sorry, Time. I appreciate the effort, but, until these bugs are resolved I will have to keep this application off of my device. I'm bummed. :-\

This app isn't ready for prime time. It locks up your BB. Then you have to do a soft reset. Nice concept. Will be removing it though.

Never got past the intro screen, then started to mess my screen up, finally had to do a battery pull, appears buggy on my tour, removed it. Save you time and wait till they get this app production ready.

I have latest OS 4.6.282 and with BIS the app works very well.
Very nice way to navigate the articles and small pics are also making it visually very appealing.

One downside, similar to that of WSJ, is that articles duplicate between categories, which is fairly confusing.

First time ever. Went to bed with an almost full battery and woke up with an amber light flashing low battery warning. The periodic updates appear to be draining the battery. Javelin is only 3 months old and that has never happened before. I only installed the program yesterday.

I've tried it several times. The app either froze on start up or while reading articles. A batt pull was the only solution. It also drained the memory. I eventually deleted.

Going to pull it off of my Pearl. The Pearl already has bad memory leakage. This app SUCKS the memory right out of the phone. Actually right before my very eyes. Nice idea but NO GOOD!!!

Good concept and enjoyed the app but then realized that it actually drained my memory =/ went from 112.6 to back up to 160.0 , uninstalled and reinstalled it to make sure and sure enough it was the culprit.
