TheBirthdayApp is very simple to use and requires almost no set up. Download and install the app, open it and specify how far in advance you want to be notified of upcoming birthdays. With 6 different options ranging from 1 day to 1 month ahead of time, you're sure to find a time frame that works for you. You can even designate the time of day you want the notification to appear. That's it for set up! Close the app and you're done. TheBirthdayApp identifies birthdays from your address book entries, and notifies you with a pop up on your screen on the day and time you set. Unlike other reminder applications, TheBirthdayApp does not continuously run in the background, so you don't have to worry about your battery feeling the effects of it.
