Telus Unleashes 4.5 OS for 8330 & 8130 Devices! Posted in BlackBerry Apps on 17 Dec 2008 05:19 by Bla1ze |
Maybe this was caught up in the hysteria of getting the new BlackBerry Storm out the doors of Telus shops around Canada, but as of now you can grab the 4.5 OS update for the BlackBerry 8330 and 8130 from Telus' BlackBerry downloads page. The official release being offered is that of application version 4.5.0.77. Sadly though, the BlackBerry 8830 was left out of the update which seems to be the case across all CDMA carriers as I have yet to see a version of that readily available for download in any official form. Not too sure why we're not seeing updates for the 8830 though, given it is a business focused device.
If you are a Telus customer be sure to grab the update and get crack'n on upgrading that OS. If you are unsure of how exactly to upgrade to the new OS be sure to check out our BlackBerry 101: How to Install or Upgrade to a New RIM BlackBerry Operating System (OS) to get you started off on the right foot.

I had this rainforest background on my phone with a wooden path through it. it came preloaded with the Pearl.. after I upgraded the OS this morning after reading this.. it was gone.
Does anyone know where I can find this image to put on my Pearl again?? I love that image *sigh*
I sympathize, same thing happened to me, with update. Lost preloaded pictures (whole file). One picture was my favorite!
I called telus yesterday and the representative said there was new software coming out that would allow the sending and recieving of mms in two weeks. I hope this is the update they spoke of!!!
Guess that never happened... months later.. still no mms
The day 4.5 was released for AT&T I was expecting a blog entry stating it was out, but alas nothing. Barely a blip on the forums either, just stating the latest version was from AT&T. And I think that was the carrier most watched for the upgrade. Oh well, atleast it's out I guess
AT&T did s staggered release of all the OS' they never launched all them in one day, they actually JUST finsihed off the launches with the 8110 and the 8120 a few days ago and have yet to post anything for the 8700, 8300 or the 8100 devices, so rather then having to make 5-6 4.5 posts for AT&T..it's a waiting game to see of they issue the rest of them for the devices that were still NOT updated.
I doaded this update from Telus ovr a week ago! But Im having trouble with the Docs to Go app....after registering it it says theres a maintence update available, but it wont dload onto my fone. Says something about there being incompatible data on the device! Anyone else have this happen?
Will this work with sprint? Is this like "their" official one as well? Thanks in advance!!!
