TELUS confirms they'll be carrying the BlackBerry Style as well

BlackBerry Style

Just in case you were wondering if the BlackBerry Style would get any Canadian carrier love, TELUS has confirmed they'll also be offering the device at some point in the near future.

“Today Sprint announced that they will offer the BlackBerry Style 9670. I wanted to reach out to confirm that TELUS will be offering the BlackBerry Style here in Canada. Pricing and availability information still to come.”

I'm pretty sure TELUS will not be the only carrier either. As noted though, no date or pricing has been confirmed at this time. But, it's always nice to see carriers confirm a future release date rather than leaving customers wondering.

I'm extremely surprised Telus is picking this up, as I assumed they would not be introducing any more CDMA phones and focusing entirely on HSPA.

Pretty much what I thought as well. Was totally surprised to see them confirm a release. But, I guess if it's not them it'll be another of the remaining CDMA carriers so they might as well grab those customers who want it. I mean, it's not like their CDMA network is dead and gone yet.

I know it seems unlikely, but perhaps Canada will get a GSM version of the Style after all. I seriously hope that is the case, although it is more likely for the Style to be in CDMA flavor for Canada as well, given TELUS is a CDMA carrier too.

There has yet to be a 9600-series device that is NOT on CDMA, but that doesn't necessarily rule it out…

Considering they're running out of model numbers, I don't know why they didn't start an unused number series with this one. 9200s and 9400s are both open still. Weird that they now have 3 different brand names within the 9600 series

probably would be best not to provide a release date at all after the whole torch fiasco!! Although I dont think the demand will be as high for the style as it were for the torch.
