Now if only Bell would have been able to pull off the same thing for us poor Bell users *sigh*

poor Bell users? Consider yourselves lucky Bell users. The Storm sucks. Thank god for the 15 day trial period. I went running back to AT&T and my Blackberry Bold and luckily they took me back.

Mine has been working fine since I was lucky to get one on Dec 11. Occasional lag and screen glitches, only 1 battery pull in nearly 2 weeks, I'd say that's very good for a brand new model. Some things clunkier than they should be, but it's a great start and will get better with future updates. Always have to expect and accept that when you choose to be an early adopter of anything.

Bell did pull it off. The only way to get one right now from Bell is to put a deposit on a pre-order. Bell is getting shipments in, but their only for the clients who pre-ordered them. They will not sell to anyone who walks in and asks for one.

Edit: I was on the same boat about the Storm. I was extremely excited about upgrading from my Curve, but after playing with it, I was really disappointed. I've recently been tweaking a friends Storm, and after condensing some of his icons, and a few rounds of texting/editing, I dialed it in... now I want one again.

When I pre-ordered my Storm from a dealer store (Citi Place in Toronto) around Dec 7 (I was getting a pretty good corporate plan deal, so I had to go through this store) they said I would likely have to wait until January b/c they have a bunch of pre-orders before me and it was first come, first serve; and they werent getting many pieces. So I called them today seeing as how Telus announced more storms made it to the stores, and even BestBuy is advertising they will be available in store tomorrow, and the dealer store said I still have to wait until January. Im fine with waiting, but I'm getting a tad annoyed with Telus/RIM (whoever is at fault...im assuming it's RIM) that they dont have enough of these.

it has to do with putting out a very limited quanity until there is a stable OS running so that people will be happy with what they got and not so quick to return the device as some people on here have been.

My Storm that I received from Telus just a few days ago came loaded with firmware version 4.7.0.76 which I find is improved from the versions that have been tested (and slammed) by many critics. In fact, the demo phone in the Telus store had many of the problems described on the net, but clearly the handset I received was far better. I cannot say it is perfect, the phone is still somewhat laggy, but battery life seems decent and so far no crashes.

Kudos to Telus for holding back on the phone as long as possible to give us a more stable software version and avoid Vodafone and Verizon's problems.

Regards.

I returned mine.. I loved the phone. But the battery life was dreadful.. Never made it an entire day on minimal use. I miss the phone tho, I really did like it. I keep thinking I should try another one. But I'm sure the battery will be just as bad.

They actually got some last week (in the webstore) but didn't announce anything publicly. I ordered one on the 15th and got it on the 19th.

Just a heads up for those who are looking for a Telus Storm and heading to Future Shop to get one!
Future Shop, at the time being, is only offering the Storm on brand new 3 year activations with voice and data. This EXCLUDES all outright and renewal offers...

From my understanding, for Future Shop to be able to hold inventory on all 139 stores across Canada, they both agreed that only new activations were to be offered (in Future Shop).

I received the Telus email as well, but out West here on Vancouver Island, there are no Telus Storms to be had, and not one Telus Dealership had any knowledge of a pending shipment before Xmas. In fact, they all said they were not anticipating receiving anything until well into the New Year.

Oh well, by the time the Storm finally does arrive, Telus will be coming out with the 3.5G Curve, or Niagara as some tend to call it, and that is the phone I want.

Only limited supplies coming through. Futureshop also received about 4 per store this past week.
Talked to a Telus dealer in Edmonton, more units due in before the new year. Am on a waiting list.
