Telus BlackBerry Storm is $249.99 with 3 year contract
I just got official word on the Telus BlackBerry Storm's pricing...
From launch until December 25, the device will be available for $249.99 under a sweet three-year plan promo. Alternatively, without a contract, you can get the device for $599.99. More pricing info will be available on the microsite shortly: www.telusmobility.com/storm
I know we've all seen a ton of BlackBerry Storm hands-on videos already, but we wouldn't be CrackBerry.com if we didn't cover them all. Watch the clip above to see the Telus BlackBerry Storm in action!

Better than the $299 we have been hearing about.
Hope they come out with some good data plans.
Lets see how bell counters this price.Let the
price wars begin.

I just went to the Telus store on Bloor St. and asked when the Storm is coming out, the CSR told me it was originally planned for December 8, but that it may be delayed "hopefully before Christmas" were his exact words.

My Telus dealer has taken many deposits on Storms for delivery on Dec 2nd. I guess I'll know if it's true tomorrow morning!

The pricing is great, but when is the launch date?
VoltaicShock Dec 1, 2008 at 2:54 pm
I read the phone is coming to Bell for the holidays too.
Can't wait until it hits AT&T.

Sounds better than Bell's $280 + 3 year contract. Still I think it's pricey.
RAPTOR0065 Dec 1, 2008 at 3:37 pm
When did they start jacking people with that????
I thought a 1-year contract was bad... Now, just about everyone forces you to sign a 2-year contract. Then this??? 3-year contract for a phone that you might use for 18 - 24 months???? Bogus...
I've always said that multi-year contracts are bad for the consumer... The industry must have a reason to invest in infrastructure. If all of their customers are locked into multi-year contracts (thereby mitigating competition), what drives the industry to make their services better?
It's worth it to pay full price for the phone or the termination fee when you're fed up with your provider (i.e. AT&T).
sheesh Dec 1, 2008 at 6:21 pm
ummm... it's always been 3 years contracts in canada.. and most of the time, our 3 year price is what you guys pay on a 2 year *sigh*
phixt Dec 2, 2008 at 1:40 am
Telus as well as all other companies have always done 3 year contracts, the storm will also have subsidized price for 2 and 1 year contracts as well as the month to month pricing. I fully agree that contracts are the devil but they are a part of the telecommunications industry. It is a choice that the consumer has to make for him/her self. dumb people take the 3.
Also I would like to point out their investment in infastructure. CDMA is going the way of the Dodo and Telus and Bell are working together to build an HSPA network that will launch in 2010. what is this going to mean to all the CDMA phones out now... not sure but im sure they will leave all the other transmitters up for enough years to migrate those users.

RAPTOR0065 i agree 100% completely with you.
I would rather pay upfront now then to be
locked for 3 years with any provider.

I was at a best buy store in Ottawa over the weekend, and asked about the Storm. You can pre-order with them but the salesperson told me they are expecting to launch December 18th. Personally, I'm happy to wait until the problems that our neighbours to the south have been experiencing are resolved somewhat

just wish we had a date! And I agree with RAPTOR the 3 year thing SUCKS~ it is so unfair but that is Telus EH? crappers!! This phone isnt gonna hit til Dec21 watch and see. I have the money put back for this but will end up spending it! lol!! it's Chirstmas and I love to shop! dang it Telus why are you doing this to me??
futureaddict Dec 1, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I was kinda hoping that Telus would follow suit with Vodafone or Verizon. I know the Vodafone was far-fetched, at $0 with an 18 month plan, but i dont mind the price now... its still kinda high for me, but i dont really care, i want the phone so badly. If they were to offer a $50 rebate, that would be a great gift, but we cant get everything we wished for, other wise, i would be holding the phone in my hands this minute... now all i need is a release date... thats when im gonna be truely happy!!!
sarfrazfamily Dec 1, 2008 at 7:00 pm
the telus site isnt working now for the storm! maybe they are upgrading!! yay!
sarfrazfamily Dec 1, 2008 at 7:12 pm
ok the storm website on telus looks GREAT!!! thanks Kevin!!

Last year around chrismas time, Telus had the blackberry email + ul on-device data for 15$ (went to 30$ after that) and people who had it were able to keep it for that price. Imagine storm + 15$ ul data/email?

All this waiting and all these projected release date... When are they finally going to release it.
latinlegacy Dec 1, 2008 at 11:31 pm

I have heard AT&T is suppose to get the Storm and it should have Wi-Fi.
I will just be happy when they get the phone - :)
RustyKnuckles Dec 1, 2008 at 11:26 pm

fatla Dec 2, 2008 at 11:12 am
The Telus Storm page has been updated with price (pretty much with the info Kevin provided) but still no release date!!

I keep seeing in the posts that ATT is, at some point, getting the Storm. Is this true?? Thought it was a Verizon exclusive for life. I know that several phones started out life that way....RAZR, Curve, etc. and after a while, it was out on the market. Anyone know for sure......
CARTIEL Dec 2, 2008 at 3:49 pm
I kinda thought that someone one the site had some wishfull thinking as to not have to deal with Verizon to enjoy a Blackberry Storm unless he was hinting at an unlocking method to set up on another carrier - anyone ever heard of the Blackberry Thunder?
STYLN Dec 2, 2008 at 1:34 pm
I been with Telus for ever! And its been a 3 yr term for most of my time there...but after 2 yr's they'll fix ya up if u keep hounding them...i got a couple new fones ovr a yr early so my "3 yr" term has pretty much always been a 2 yr term...I figure Im always gonna have a cell fone n pay as ya go is a pain in the ass...I like my plan so I'll stick with it...

I don't know for certain if the Storm (or Verizons Storm for that matter) is a S.I.M. quality type of handheld. I'm on a Sprint carrier and one of the conversations I had with a sales rep. led me to believe that Sprint doesn't at all support S.I.M quality handleds (not to my knowledge) - Can anyone answer that question for me?
