Falling pretty much in line with the official announcement of BlackBerry 10.2, folks using Telstra in Australia can expect to receive their BlackBerry 10.2 update for the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 close to the middle of October according to their official handset update schedule. The interesting, albeit slightly odd thing, is the fact they're seemingly skipping over BlackBerry 10.1 for whatever reason but alas, still nice to have a timeline set for 10.2.

The White Q10 is the best phone ever and worth twice the price of the z10 in today's market. ;)

bambinoitaliano

Does it worth more than a gold iphone that Kevin paid for? :)

*Is it worth more

Kevin always overpays :) I'll never forget that he once paid for a $500 clock app! Anyway, why does he even need an iPhone?

My first though is I hope t-mobile do the same.

No they won't. They want to kill BlackBerry.

I doubt they do, so far it seems they will be supporting the z30. We got official statement + radio specs that confirm it.

Official statement? Whaa?

What is the expected release date to carriers? I seem to recall reading early October, but I'm not sure. Depending on the carrier, updates would be pushed out a few weeks later, correct?

Im working as a customer care rep for telstra. And most of the orders for BlackBerry 10 phones come from business accounts. Hope BlackBerry would be able to infiltrate the residential market. And hope that this move will be the start

Timeline for BlackBerry products? All gets delayed in the end anyway! So expect this one to be delayed till 2014 probably...I want to be optimistic but I just cant! Look at the past history OS10, Playbook, BBM for android iOS, etc etc

Douglas Zivcic1

Last update ran out smoothly and timely fashion here...but the way I see it if it takes that long i don't care, I'm still more than satisfied with my Z10 current capabilities.
Prefer it over any other platform.

That is going to be a big jump for our aussie friends.

Looks like they only allocate 2 weeks to test it as well. Wow.

This is INDEED smart move. No more additional testing... just go with the new version =)) impressive.

I hope our PH carriers also act this way too :(

LOL - Telstra as we know them. I don't believe, it's a smart move. I assume they just realised that they won't be able to finish the certification of 10.1 before the release of 10.2

Good move Telstra! Let's see if scumbag Vodafone can do the same ha.

It will still likely be a downgrade going from an up to date leaked 10.2 back to the official release.

Ok, so I'm lost... can someone please educate me.

I picked up my Z10 day of release in Oz, since that time I had one official update. Since then I have been awaiting 10.2

Have i missed one in between?

Posted via CB10

kidmac13

Nah, the MR update didn't release. Optus did, but Telstra didn't.

Mr.G_under

I wonder when is Optus releasing 10.2? I am currently running a leaked 10.2.1.200 with the Android 810 runtime for most available sideloads. It's not as stable - still a few glitches. when I click on view after a missed call it takes me to the settings option. From time to time I get a small square in left bottom showing CPU/memory statistics - numerical or graph. Some apps like instagram is still a pain. the Keyboard is still shyte.

dicks-webos

Blackberry needs to change to pushing OS updates themselves. Look at what a mess Google got themselves into and how easy going Apple is.

mnc76

Then they'll also have to change to getting their phones to work without any wireless connectivity since the carriers won't carry their phones if BlackBerry won't let them vet it first.

Apple only has to deal with their own hardware and limited number of models. Google only releases the software code and hardware vendors customize to their designs.

BlackBerry probably could do as Apple, as they make both software and hardware, but they don't seem strong enough to demand such terms from carriers that want bloatware installed too.

Mr.G_under

With BlackBerry current position, they are unable to provide resource to handle direct upgrades to users. A specific team of techs would be needed to rectify issues with upgrades. Look at Apple's situation every year when they create a new software. Twitter was flooded a few nights ago with the disgust of Apple users and the IOS7 upgrade. There were too many malfunctions. It is best to have incremental upgrades. Possibly unlike other shops, BlackBerry work in small teams, each having a specific project. That would give you an idea how their software plans are laid out.

What great news. Thanks Crackberry for the great news.

Does anybody really care for a BB10 OS update now. Just can't believe that Blackberry had to writeoff so many Z10 inventory. I am amazed that even in canada people did not buy the Z10 and Q10. With 70 million BB subscribers we did not even see 2 million sales of the Z10, Q10 and Q5 in the entire world. Thats shocking! So only I say who cares now if its 10.2 etc etc We are headed the Palm way! Disgusted with how the entire BB10 experience was mishandled. Right from DELAYED launch to Phone Pricing to App Selection to Marketing to the final fiasco of BBM launch. Blackberry management you killed the Blackberry brand and the company! You guys suck!!! @$$holes

I agree with you that BlackBerry did very bad marketing and American phone companies helped a lot. They delayed to bring it on the shelves 2 months after launch. I wonder how come iPhone with OS7 is launched as Apple announced. I know American hate Canadian, but didn't know it was so bad. You have succeeded, the American. And bye bye BlackBerry for good.

Great to hear as I'm with Telstra. Using the latest leaked version of 10.2 and love it. I'd rather they skip the minor updates for the major ones.

Good news, they rolled 10.1 pretty quickly also which was nice.

Doesn't really y worry me about the 10.1 MR if it means official 10.2 :-) hopefully a higher version than 10.2.1047 which I'm on now.

No it's not wrong at all. Telstra released 10.1.0.273 but never released 10.1.0.4537 which most other carriers did. I put a Optus sim in my Z10 to get the. 4537 update. It fixed the reboot bug so was an important update

BB Z10 Rocks!

+1. My affinity to my Z has only grown by leaps and bounds over the last six months since I got it. 10.1 MR was the only hiccup in that amazing ride. I can't imagine a better phone with a better virtual keyboard, better messaging system (Hub), better and easier multitasking, and a fantastic user experience.
And it is a very nice looking design too! I have few complaints about the hardware and software. I have many complaints about management and marketing! Hopefully by going private they can spend the time to do things right rather than being a slave to investors and investment houses.

backfire101

Only 3 weeks waiting, so not bad at all.

MRJUCY

I've got a Q10 on Telstra & have been tossing up if to install a leak or not but if they roll 10.2 in a timely fashion as promised I'll hang on.
I've had the last 3 Nexus phones & enjoyed getting the latest software versions straight away.

I even had a friend think I was using an iPhone, and couldn't believe it was a BlackBerry.

shootsscores

The Z10 is one well kept secret.

Douglas Zivcic1

Yeah, and as soon as someone in BlackBerry realises and get a great marketing team on board sales will increase. And a few other management changes. Need to put a end to all the speculation.

Posted via CB10

K007A

Maybe they should change the logo to iPhone and sell it in China, lol

Posted by Z10

bbfanboi

Trying to sell a BB7 device in 2013 was such a stupid and pig headed move. What a waste of time! A cheaper Z5 is what folks would have wanted in time for back to school. Folks I'm developing countries would be happy too, and BlackBerry would not have had to discount the Z10 so heavily. As it stands, they just lost market share or they had to give away the Z cheap.

allwi

Yeah - you're right. I believe the two biggest problems are:
1. The device and the OS came too late - the market is already saturated with Android and iPhones (and as the masses are, they follow the leader)
Nothing to do about this ...
2. The marketing is crap ... The BB10 is such a beauty (though I still have some improvement ideas ;) ) but they are not able to promote is aggressively and sell the advantages.
It may not be too late to start with this!

XOW JTO

For me BlackBerry OS is the beauty. So may be best strategy is make a good hardware combine with stable OS (BlackBerry 10). Is good OS, but like other user, we always waiting new OS in the same time. What ever our device, we have right to update it in the same time.
From BlackBerry comp. Will be easyer to maintain and to develop OS. Then you can sell other apps.
I personally want BlackBerry still alive. Keep peace with country regulation and you will survive.

Manish Harlalka

Hope BlackBerry is able to get this release right. After the Android fiasco can't trust them for anything. BBM on Android - no sign yet.

Don't know who or was Talstra is ... but if you would know our local carrier Telstra, you would know that they are much keener on Android phones than on the iPhone.
A bigger margin for them ;)

Playbook007

Even the Canadian National News has been writing BlackBerry off for years. It's absolutely terrible how bad people want BlackBerry to die. I personally love the z10 and bb10. Business users are going to sorry if they don't support BlackBerry and in goes away.

BlackBerry will survive in the Corporate and Government Sectors! My Z10 is so much better than an iphone!

bbfanboi

People were tired of the bad news, this is why going private will really help them. They can restructure without bad press, and they can invest in R&D again without greedy shareholders flipping out.

This is a croc. Telstra delayed and delayed the MR1 update testing due to "resource constraints" (their words) for so long that 10.2 is now on their door step. They wont release to that time frame almost guaranteed and we'll see more resource constraints for delays as the excuses. In my mind Telstra have a poor record of providing their customers with updates based on experiences with BBOS (8700g, 9000 & 9800). The 9800 support was especially poor. Check their release area for classic devices and you'll see what I mean. I had to load another carriers version just to get voice dialing via Bluetooth going. Lucky for us Telstra customers BB's have been traditionally pretty easy to load another carriers later release on to. And let us hope that BB never change this aspect.

A looooooooot of developers are waiting for 10.2, either to update their apps or to launch them.

Nissan GTR Channel - C001247FA

I wonder why they are skipping to 10.2? Maybe because the performance of the phones are good and they just want to jump to 10.2 and create some buzz about the new additions and features of 10.2? Does anybody have some good insight to this?

Posted via CB10
