Get social in front of the TV with Zeebox for BlackBerry smartphones (UK Only)

Zeebox has launched today for BlackBerry smartphones, giving users the chance to become more social and interact with friends while watching the TV. Already a big hit on Android and iOS, Zeebox instantly shows you what shows are currently on and also what your buddies are watching. With Facebook and Twitter integration you can share what you are watching and get chatting with others about the show.

Even if you don't feel like being social, the application is still a great TV guide, something that I for sure have been missing on my BlackBerry. With regional settings and the option to select what digital TV package you subscribe too Zeebox has you covered.

New 3al6ayer app for BlackBerry users in the Middle East

We just got some news in hot of the press from RIM in the Middle East which makes a nice change, but we are making an effort here at CrackBerry to cover as many continents as possible.

Since television content is not the best in the region, many people have taken to YouTube to launch their own Arabic shows. These have become huge hits with the population especially because of the satirical twist they take on things! Popular YouTube show 3al6ayer (AlTayer) today launched an app for BlackBerry® smartphone users which will allow his audience to engage with him and send in live-on-air requests.

3al6ayer, which means ‘On the Fly', has soared in popularity across the Middle East with each episode watched by over a million viewers on YouTube. Available for download via BlackBerry® App WorldTM , the 3al6ayer app creates an exciting way for fans to watch episodes of their favourite Arabic comedy show and engage with the cast and crew. Features of the app include:

New 'Action Starts Here' commercial for BlackBerry India - Will you be singing along?

We posted just the other day detailing how Research In Motion were kicking off a new campaign in India with the slogan 'Action Starts Here'. In conjunction they have published a new TV commercial which is clearly bound for the region and it is very different to the recent commercials we have had here in the UK over the past few months. Those took on a new format but this new one seems the more traditional type with people enjoying themselves and singing a quite a catchy song all about action.

So people of India - what do you think? Will this help drive BlackBerry forward over the coming months? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

GetGlue for BlackBerry app now available for download

GetGlue is a social networking site that lets you check-in, rate, review, and share info on your favorite movies, TV shows, music, and topics. You are awarded stickers for certain check-ins, that are displayed virtually on your GetGlue homepage. Each month, you can request that your stickers be sent (20 per month, subject to availability) to you, free of charge. As I have said before, this may seem cheesey, but free is free, and I get nothing from other sites like Facebook or Twitter.

The app has been in beta for a little over a month, but is now quite polished, and the few bugs that the app had are now gone. If you haven't tried it yet, you should definitely give GetGlue a look. You can download GetGlue at BlackBerry App World, free of charge and available for most BlackBerry devices. More screencaps after the break.

The BBC posted this video preview of The One Ronnie show to their youtube account earlier this week. It's definitely a good little piece of British BlackBerry humor (note for the North Americans in the crowd, that "Orange" is a cellular carrier!). Check it out for a Wednesday morning laugh. I spotted this one on Isaac Kendall's facebook stream, so thanks Isaac!

BlackBerry Bold 9700 On 'In Plain Sight' - Can You Spot the Errors?

I'm always on the lookout to try and find a BlackBerry when I watch TV. Last night I was excited to find a Bold 9700 at the end of In Plain Sight. Sure we could just post a screencap, say how cool it was since most shows use an old Curve 83xx or maybe a Bold 9000 at best, but this time we're throwing in a little fun. If you watch the video above, you can see there is a semi-fake call screen and then a shot of the homescreen. If you have a keen eye you'll notice quite a few inconsistencies between the two. We can assume the "call screen" is really just a Photoshop that was tweaked a bit, but its still not accurate. Watch the video and see what you can spot. Hit the jump to see if you found everything I did (and if I missed anything be sure to leave a comment and let us know).

Review: PrimeTime2Go on the T-Mobile Bold 9700

Some of you may remember the review I did of PrimeTime2Go last year. The service has been progressing since last May, and now comes pre-loaded on the T-Mobile Bold 9700. PrimeTime2Go offers over 60 prime time programs, and comes with a carrier billing option on the T-Mobile Bold 9700 for $9.99/month. Unfortunately, there are still very few BlackBerry models supported by the service, but more devices are being added as they can be supported.

As of my last review, PrimeTime2Go was still in its infancy, and was experiencing some growing pains. As of this review with the T-Mobile Bold 9700, it seems that they have worked out some of their intial bugs, and made the software more usuable.

He was in the office for about an hour interviewing and getting clips of the Crack Team at work. The segment aired on the evening news and was awesome!
