Opera Mini browser updated to version 7

If you are not satisfied with the native BlackBerry browser you may be interested to learn that Opera Mini has been been updated to version 7. The browser now offers a 'Smart Page' which gives you all your news from your Facebook and Twitter feeds which is a pretty nifty feature. As always Opera Mini crunches data so if you are on a data limited plan this may well be a great solution for you.

In addition, Opera released its State of the Mobile Web Report, which revealed that India has overtook Russia as the largest Opera Mini country, ranked by unique users per month. In less than a year, India has gone from being the third-largest country in the Opera Mini rankings to being number one, ahead of Russia and Indonesia. You can see the full report here.

Opera Mini has long been the go-to secondary browser for many BlackBerry users, but until now, it was only available via direct download from Opera's site. Today Opera has announced that version 6.5.2 is now available as a free download from BlackBerry App World. While there are no major changes in this version, the browser does offer some different functionality over that of the native BlackBerry Browser, so if you haven't used it before you might want to check it out. Keep reading for the full press release then head to the link below to download.

Opera Mini 6.5 now available for BlackBerry smartphones

Despite the fact the new BlackBerry 7 browser is leaps and bounds above previous versions, not everyone has a BlackBerry 7 device to make use of. Some folks out there may even have a BlackBerry 7 device and still want to use a different browser. Opera is aware of this fact and now -- they've made Opera Mini 6.5 available for download. In this release you'll find better data optimization which can help reduce data usage, when compared to other browser Opera uses only 10% of the data they use. If you're watching out for your data consumption, that's quite a bit. Thanks, Dennis!
