CreaVures for the BlackBerry PlayBook will take you out of the darkness and into the light

If you dig platform puzzle games with rich graphics, Union has just released the game you'll want to immerse yourself into. CreaVures has now landed in BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook and is available as a free download. In it, you'll be taken on a journey through the now dark forest in an effort to bring it back to the light.

Five for fighting - Each of the five CreaVures - Bitey, Pokey, Rolly, Zappy, and Flick - has a unique talent suited for solving special puzzles and surviving tough enemies, including including larger-than-life boss battles at the end of each chapter. Only by working together can the CreaVures restore their forest home.

Hauntingly Beautiful - Bathed in fluorescent highlights, the world of CreaVures is a dreamscape made real. Tree rings glow in the gloom. Swirls of light rise from twinkling flower petals. CreaVure eyes pulse in the twilight. This is one game you cannot tear your eyes away from.

Fun and fantasy await - CreaVures’ puzzle-filled platforming is enhanced by fantastical story that pulls you into its world and compels you to keep playing until the forest is rescued from oppressive darkness.

Having played through the game on other platforms and taking a look at the PlayBook version, I can say the enjoyment remains the same here. Overall, the game is visually impressive and the controls are laid out quite nicely. Go ahead and give it a go, the link is below. CreaVures only comes in at just over 126MB and is well worth it.

Shadowgun for the BlackBerry PlayBook now available for free

If you tuned into the BlackBerry Jam Americas keynote, then you likely saw the demo of Shadowgun being run on the screens. Now, the game has been released into BlackBerry App World and best of all, it's available as a free download. If you're big on third-person shooters, this will be one you want to add to your collection:

Crush, Kill, Destroy - Featuring the most advanced combat A.I. to date—enemies flank, seek cover, and utilize teamwork to take you down! Battle automated sentries, aerial drones, and other lethal foes—tactical maneuvers are based upon actual military strategy! Solve hacking mini-games to whet your nerdly appetite, then get back to blasting!

Console-Quality Graphics - It ain’t just pretty—it’s gorgeous! Advanced lighting effects, beautifully rendered environments, and pro voices make this one of the most advanced games for your smartphone!!

From the mind of a madman - Survive the onslaught of Dr. Simon’s deadly creations, including level bosses, mutated grunts, killer machines, and more!

The game comes in at just over 350MB so while it's not massive, it is something to be aware of for sure. If you're looking for the trailer to see the gameplay before you dive in, you can jump below to get a good look at it otherwise, hit the link below to download Shadowgun today.

Now, I wonder if Madfinger games will also bring Dead Trigger to the PlayBook as well.

Since the release of the BlackBerry PlayBook, Union has been adding plenty of new titles to BlackBerry App World. Keeping up with all the titles has been a task on its own. A good task mind you, but possibly detrimental to ones funding resources.

Knowing that everyone likes a sale, Union has now gone ahead and dropped the prices on a whole slew of their most popular titles. If you're looking to pick up some games on the cheap, now is the time. Hit the link below to check all the Union titles in BlackBerry App World.

Step back in time to the wild west with Cowboy Guns for the BlackBerry PlayBook from Union

Another awesome game from the folks at Union has now landed in BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Cowboy Guns will take you back to the wild west where you'll have to take on a gang of gunslingers known as The Crimson Jackals in order to restore peace to the town.

Cowboy Guns Highlights

Adventure mode with a great story and depth. Cinematic scenes connect this western tale.

Survival Mode where endless enemies come from all directions in different areas of the game.

Bounty hunter mode: Get rewards for defeating more than 20 wanted criminals in the bounty hunter mode.

Use a variety of Wild West weaponry from handguns, to shotguns to sticks of dynamite.

Upgrade your weapons with the rewards you get for missions, bounties and with stars collected through exploration in all of the levels.

Four challenging bosses to defeat.

Authentic soundtrack based on spaghetti western movies.

I've been checking it out for the past few hours and have to say, it is a very nice game and weil worth the $2.99 you'll spend to get it on your PlayBook in my opinion. The controls are a little bit tricky at first but once you get the hang of it, you'll be good to go. You'll find it available now in BlackBerry App World, you can hit the link to grab it.

Fly out of this world with Gravity Lab for the BlackBerry PlayBook

If you are looking into the sea of games and apps that have made their way onto the BlackBerry PlayBook, you may be wondering which ones are worth the price and which are not. If you’ve been following CrackBerry over the past few months, you should have noticed a few of the bigger game publishers and the quality of the content they produce.

While there are definitely a lot of indie studios that produce amazing content, today I found a new game by one of the big guys. Union has been alongside RIM for almost the whole time with the PlayBook and have ported games like Samurai II: Vengeance, Muffin Knight, and Roboto onto the PlayBook. Now they have launched yet another title, which brings their PlayBook game count to around 21 games.

Try Bouncing the Bunny on your PlayBook instead of flinging feathers

Here in Colorado Springs there has been a lot going on. In order to take my youngest daughter’s mind off it all, I found a few new PlayBook games for her to try out. One of the new games was another gem from Union called Bounce the Bunny. We've covered their Super Crossfire HD, Air Attack, Muffin Knight and Burn the City here on the blogs and all of them are a lot of fun to play. While it is similar to those angry games, this one has a bit more of a happy tone to it. Bounce the Bunny is a great game for all ages and is very easy to play. The concept is simple, use the boot to kick the bunny and land in the bullseye. Try to collect as many stars as you can along the way. Use your magic dust to create bubbles that allow you to bounce the bunny in the right direction and keep him from falling.

Features:

60 different levels of bouncing bunny fun

Unlockable upgrades power-ups and rewards

If bunnies aren't your scene you can try bouncing tigers or frogs instead

This game starts off pretty easy and grabbing all the stars in the first try is pretty simple. As you progress through the game, levels get really complicated and there are more obstacles. Those pesky stars aren't as easily attainable either. Making the bubbles bigger than what they start as was a little difficult but I eventually got the hang of it. I absolutely love the little victory dance that the bunny does every time he lands in the bullseye and the cute little costumes you can buy for him. Bounce the Bunny is currently available for $0.99 (well worth it in my opinion) from BlackBerry App World. Bounce those bunnies (or tigers and frogs) to your heart’s content!

I seriously can not leave my house without my BlackBerry PlayBook, it's all because of the games, and the 7 inch form factor. Now, do not get me wrong I would love to see more applications come across this tablet (like Instagram, Banking apps, and more). What I will say is that I'm definitely enjoying games like Dead Space, Angry Birds, and now Rope Rescue. Rope Rescue is a physics based game in which your sole job is to help other birds escape from wooden cages. I’m sure you’re reading this thinking “Zach, this concept is simple and seems unchallenging. Why buy?”, but just wait CrackBerry Nation, just wait. While the idea of helping a bird get out of a cage seems straightforward enough, how you actually go about doing it is far from it.

Union brings Muffin Knight to the BlackBerry PlayBook for free!

Having gained popularity on Android and iOS, Muffin Knight has now made its way to BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Brought to life on the PlayBook by Union, Muffin Knight is an action filled adventure but you'll certainly need to put in some hours to complete the game:

Fertilize the forest with the unicorn, cover the sky with black holes, flood the world with candy, but just get the muffins back! Muffin Knight is an action-packed platformer with stunning visuals and a myriad of fairytale characters, each with their own unique abilities which gain strength as you advance. This is the story of a little boy, on his journey to return the old fairy’s magical muffins. A strange curse was set on him: with each muffin he touches, he turns into a different creature. The old fairy promises to turn him back into a boy when he gets all the muffins back.

I've played the game previously myself and know you'll want to go ahead and check this one out for sure. Plus, given the fact that it comes to everyone for free there's no reason to at least not give it a look. Need to see more before you fully dive in? Check out the video trailer below.

Smash Cops brings hot pursuit to the BlackBerry PlayBook

Just this afternoon we we heard that a ton of hot new games were coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook, one of which was Smash Cops from Union. There was a lot of speculation about just when we'd see these games, and lo and behold here is one of them in App World now. Smash Cops is a challenging pursuit game where you drive a police car after runaway bad guys, while avoiding pedestrians, civilian traffic, and other obstacles. Choose from any of 4 mini-games: smash a load of cars illegally parked in a car park, weave through a course laid out by cones, and dodge traffic on a highway and collect evidence throughout the city.

Smash Cops uses a different style of control than you normally find in a car/driving type game. Instead of steering by tilting your device or pressing on either side of the screen, you actually place your finger behind the car to steer. It takes a bit of getting used to but it does work well. The graphics are definitely high quality and with different attack and escape routes spread over 20 missions and 5 vehicles you're sure to play this one for some time to come. You can grab Smash Cops for $4.99 at the link below.

More information/purchase Smash Cops

Every few days my youngest brings me my PlayBook and asks me to find her a new game. We spend quite a bit of time searching through App World and yesterday, I found a gem called Burn the City by Union. We've covered their Super Crossfire HD and Air Attack here on the blogs and both great games. Similar to Angry Farm and Angry Birds, the objective is to create destruction on a massive scale by flinging fireballs at entire cities. Burn the City, while not as fast paced as the other two, is a great addition to your PlayBook. One of my favorite games on the Android platform has now been released for the BlackBerry PlayBook. It's not a direct port either, the game -- AirAttack HD has been designed by Union for the PlayBook and runs natively on the device. Pick your plane and fly through the skies all in an effort to avoid getting shot down:

Features:

8 action-packed missions cast you as a wartime pilot

More than 50 enemies including 8 intimidating bosses

experimental weapons and power-boosting upgrades

Destructible environments give you the power to demolish the enemy

You can check out the video above to get a better look at the game or you can hit the link below to purchase it and dive right in. Well worth the $3 in my opinion but you all cansound off in the comments if you've picked it up and given it a go.

With over 30 levels, Roboto is sure to keep you entertained for hours. Features include:

Samurai II: Vengeance by Union for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Wield the sharp edge of a katana in Samurai II: Vengeance. You are on a quest to hunt down the demon lord Orochi. Across a ravaged countryside, atop a flying fortress, even to the legendary Isle of the Dead, you must stop at nothing to claim your honor and exact vengeance on the forces of evil that plague feudal Japan.

Union has just released this game for the BlackBerry PlayBook, and it is a real treat. Visually, the graphics are great and very fitting for a game set in Japan. Comic book style cut scenes give you back story and plot for the game, and the color and sounds will transport you right inside, immersing you in the game. The controls are easy to master, and you will be slicing through opponents in no time. Save up points to upgrade your health, unlock new skills, and upgrade attack combos.

Samurai II: Vengeance plays really well on the BlackBerry PlayBook, and the only issue I have encountered is the game crashes when trying to enter the dojo. Hopefully that will be fixed in a future update. Also, be aware that if you are running the beta 2.0 OS on your PlayBook, the game is not supported. You can grab this awesome game for $4.99 in App World at the link below, and check out more screenshots after the break.

As noted in yesterdays BlackBerry DevCon general session keynote, the folks from Unity have now started their roll out of games for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Burn the City, Falling Fred and Kona's Crate have all been approved to BlackBerry App World and are available for download. Surprisingly, they're not priced nearly as high as some of the other games we've seen released most recently. All three titles are available for only $.99 cents.
