Love BMX or skateboarding? Check out the Extreme sports app for BlackBerry smartphones

If you are into your extreme sports you are going to love this application. Currently the Extreme app only covers skating and BMX but there is a section within the app where you can vote for which other sports you would like the application to include. This clearly means there are updates to come in the future.

So by selecting either the BMX or Skating tabs you will be able to view photos and videos that users of the community have uploaded. You can rate and add comments to all the uploads, giving you interaction with other users which is a great feature.

Munch the corn with Hungry Birds for BlackBerry smartphones - and it's free

If you like a Pac-Man style of game then Hungry Birds will get your juices flowing (maybe) and best of all it is a free download from BlackBerry App World. The aim of the game is to guide your bird around the maze collecting what I can only presume is seed of some kind. The bad news is that there are evil creatures who will kill you if you bump into them.

On each level you will find a few pieces of corn which when collected will allow you to eat up the bad dudes making life a little easier for you. But be warned - this game isn't as easy as it sounds. In fact it is quite a challenge and there will be snakes coming after you too.

CrackBerry asks: What is an appropriate age for children to get their first smartphone?

<a href="http://polldaddy.com/poll/5667827/" mce_href="http://polldaddy.com/poll/5667827/">What's a good age for a child's first smartphone?</a>

A recent study conducted by SodaHead revealed that most people feel kids shouldn't get their first smartphone or tablet until at least 16 years of age, though regular cellphones or feature phones are ok for the younger crowd. Interestingly enough, it wasn't just adults that felt that way; teens surveyed shared that opinion. A Mediamark survey in 2009 showed that more than a third of 10-11 year olds had cell phones already. Our oldest son is almost 11, and he's been asking for a phone (specifically a BlackBerry, shocker) for a couple of years now, but I've been putting him off until it's more of a necessity, not just a luxury.

We want to know, CrackBerry nation: At what age do you think a child/teenager should get their first smartphone? Vote in the poll above, and drop your comments below. The full infographic from SodaHead has some other interesting info, which you can check out at the source link below.

My must have smartphone feature is a blinking notification light, what's yours?

Back in 2005 I had my first experience with a BlackBerry. I don’t recall the model, but I do remember it having a green screen with black text, and a thumbwheel. It looked similar to the above, which is a BlackBerry 6710.

Ah, those were the days… In March 2007, I joined CrackBerry.com, right in its infancy, literally. The website, along with the forums was growing rather quickly, and word was spreading, including the new name, ‘CrackBerry’. By mid 2007 I wouldn’t be caught dead without my BlackBerry. If it wasn’t in my hand, it was on my right hip. I hardly ever used it for calls; it was used mainly for emails, and BlackBerry Pin Messenger or as it is known today, BBM. Being an addict was one thing, but admitting it was something else. I was already a CrackBerry addict, albeit, I hadn’t admitted it yet, but there was not an ‘official’ name till CrackBerry.com came along.
