Fans of the app BeWeather by Bellshare will be pleased to know that the paid version has received an update today, bringing it to v2.7.12. This update might not interest some of you, but for those that use BBM, you will be find that BeWeather is now BBM connected. You can set your BBM status to the current weather, post your current weather to your BBM profile, and send a weather location to your BBM contacts. I can see several situations where these options might come in handy, for example if you are expecting visitors from out of town and want them to see at a glance what your current weather conditions are.

The updated version also brings easier license key retrieval and license transfer from within the app as well as the usual bug fixes. As far as we can tell at this time, the update is only available for the paid version of the app which will set you back $9.99. If that's a little rich for your blood, you can download the free version (which works just as great, the only difference is it has fewer features) or wait for Bellshare to have another sale, which they do pretty often.

More information/purchase BeWeather premium
More information/download BeWeather free

Keep an eye on current weather conditions with Weather Clock Widget for BlackBerry smartphones

If you fancy keeping an eye on the current weather conditions on your BlackBerry home screen then the Weather Clock Widget maybe just what you are after. There are free and premium versions available (premium costing $1.99) but as far as I can tell the only difference with the paid version is that you can change the theme - the style of clock widget.

As you will see from the screenshots below there are some nice themes on offer and if you have ever owned an HTC Android device you may notice the resemblance between the weather widgets and the HTC Sense one. That's not necessarily a bad thing though as the HTC Sense widget is beautiful. Actually touching or clicking on the widget doesn't do anything, such as open up a weather app - it is purely there to show you the time and current conditions. The only real downside I found with the app is that as it takes up so much screen space you are limited on what you can have as your BlackBerry wallpaper. If you like to have pretty pictures to look at then the widget will not be your cup of tea, but if the weather is important to you I am sure you will love it.

Get local weather and more using Weather with Google for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Weather with Google is new into BlackBerry App World this week and it's not just another ordinary weather application. It offers some nice additional features that you will not find in the native weather app on your BlackBerry PlayBook.

The application utilizes both Google Maps and The Weather Channel bringing you the following features:

Weather View

Traffic View

Terrain View

Photos View

The weather section of the app is pretty sweet. It allows you to search any location and view not only current conditions but forecast weather too. Perfect if you are planning a trip out and need to see if you require your umbrella. Although seeing these details are probably available in other weather apps this one allows for weather checking in numerous places within seconds.

If you are taking the car it makes sense to check the traffic too. With a simple tap of the traffic tab you can enable the feature and using Google Maps it will let you see in real time any traffic jams that are on your route. Clever stuff.

Priced at $1.99 the application offers pretty good value to money and is a real asset when planning a journey.

Seems not too long ago we were posting about WeatherEye 2.0 being in beta. Now, WeatherEye has reached version 2.0.1.4 and is now available for download. If you're looking for a great, free weather application, look no further. The updated UI and hourly forecast updates make the latest version of WeatherEye a great choice for a quick and function weather application. WeatherEye has made the application available via BlackBerry App World as well as OTA to ensure no one is left out.

The folks at Bellshare let me know their insanely popular weather application BerryWeather has been updated to version 2.1.40 and is now out of public beta and officially available. A lot of key differences came with the 2.1 version as it's a re-write of the original code which will perform better across all BlackBerry devices, while taking nothing from the BerryWeather that so many have come to love. As a thank yout to everybody at CrackBerry who helped Bellshare with the beta testing of the latest version, they have offered us up 50 free copies to give away to our readers.

Win a Free Copy of BerryWeather: Drop a comment on this post for your chance to win one of 50 full versions of BerryWeather. Let us know what your favorite season is or what you hate about your least favorite season. For me, it's winter. Hockey and curling and snowmobiling aside, Canadian winters are never fun as it often times gets cold enough to freeze your face off. I'd much rather be at the beach :)

MyWeather Mobile for your BlackBerry Smartphone

There have been many weather applications going around recently, MyWeather Mobile is another good one. At $3.99, MyWeather Mobile is a bit cheaper than most feature rich weather applications, and also has a free, lite version. The application gives you current sky conditions (including wind chill/speed/direction, dew point, humidity, precipitation, and barometric pressure), personalized city selection, as well as your 7 day forecast. MyWeather Mobile also uses Microsoft Virtual earth, allowing you to pan, scroll and zoom the animated radar to a variety of points of interest, making it the best radar on a BlackBerry that I have seen. Another nice feature is the 36 hour trend graphs, giving you detailed information on recent conditions and precipitation. Overall I think MyWeather Mobile is a good application, is priced very well, and has one of the best animated radars out there. However, it is lacking that wonderful BerryWeather homescreen integration. MyWeather Mobile is only available in the U.S.A. and is compatible with the 9530, 9550, 83xx, 81xx, 9000 and coming soon to the 9630 and 8900. Click the links below to download via BlackBerry App World.

WeatherEye has posted a new thread in the CrackBerry forums introducing their new WeatherEye Beta. The application brings a number of changes with it, which from my testing so far are great to see.

New WeatherEye design

WiFi Connectivity

Ability to add multiple cities

Radar maps

Hourly forecast

GPS locator

With the release of the beta to the public WeatherEye developers are actively hanging out in the forums and gathering feedback from users on how to possible better improve the application as well as catching any bugs before full on release. Give it a look and help them out with making a great app even better. All OS' 4.2.1 and higher are applicable here. Thanks to Phishgirl3 for the heads up.

View The Full Thread In The CrackBerry Forums For More Information And Downloads>>

When it comes to all things weather-related, I don’t know what it is but we are all a bit obsessed with it. What’s the temperature outside, is it going to rain today, should it make an hotel reservation for this week-end on the beach? It is a big business; we have TV channels dedicated to weather. Continuing our series on BlackBerry friendly sites, today we look at mobile Weather sites that are BlackBerry compliant.

We listed here what we consider the 5 best sites to get your weather information from. The fact is, you can not go wrong choosing any of them; it is more a question of personal preferences, styles, graphics used. After entering the city/state or zip code, you are ready to get a ton of information about weather and everything related to weather. From most of these sites, you’ll usually be able to get information on:
