 <title>Be Bold infographic clarified - It&#039;s NOT an advertising campaign!</title>

I was somewhat surprised by all the negative comments over such a small thing, both on CrackBerry and other blogs. Many people (<a href="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399615,00.asp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">even writers at some pretty big-name sites</a>) jumped to the conclusion that this is Research In Motion's new advertising campaign, and that it is ridiculous and childish and destined to fail, even though there was nothing said by RIM to indicate that this was in any way a new advertising campaign. It was simply an infographic, made to organize the data that was sent in by over 35,000 BlackBerry Twitter followers and present it in a fun and easy to digest manner.

The BlackBerry team posted this update on their blog today, in response to all the criticism:

More than 35,000 resolutions streamed across Twitter®, Facebook®, and giant billboards in Times Square. As we looked at the resolutions and the data, majority patterns and categories emerged. We decided to organize the data and share it in a fun way, and the result is the infographic. This is not a new ad campaign.</i>

Way back at the end of 2011, New Years Eve to be specific, you may recall that BlackBerry sponsored a little event called <a href="http://crackberry.com/blackberry-sponsoring-dick-clark%E2%80%99s-new-year%E2%80%99s-rockin%E2%80%99-eve-ryan-seacrest">Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest</a>. During the broadcast, the giant billboards in Times Square were home to not only BlackBerry advertising, but also more than <a href="http://crackberry.com/post-your-bebold-new-years-resolution-twitter-and-you-might-make-times-square-billboard">35,000 resolutions for the new year sent via tweet</a> that answered the question "How will you #BeBold in 2012?"<br /><br />
The tweets and resolutions posted to Facebook were analyzed, and four clear themes were apparent. The BlackBerry team took these themes, personified them, and The Bold Team was born - four characters that embody the goals and aspirations of #TeamBlackBerry.  <title>RIM vs the World - An infographic</title>

A never ending topic of discussion I see on Twitter and the CrackBerry forums, among other places, revolves around which mobile platform is the "best". I really don't believe there is a definitive answer to this question, as what is perfect for me, may not be perfect for you. And there really isn't anything wrong with that. Competition between brands is healthy, and without it, what would drive RIM or Apple or anyone to improve their platform, and keep bringing us the next bigger and better thing? Take a look (after the break) at the infographic that Geekaphone has put together for some interesting, at-a-glance information about RIM in the past and the present, what sets BlackBerry apart from the others, and comparisons between the "Big 3".
