Jefferies analyst Peter Misek is Really Trash RIMM This Morning...
http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderdaily/2012/05/02/rimm-promises-10k-pe...
RIM is holding its annual Blackberry World Conference and its first ever Blackberry 10 Jam. Developer and carrier attendance is higher than we expected; however, the BB10 alpha handsets look rough despite being only ~5 months from launch, offer little differentiation, and the focus on BB10 will collapse BB7 sales for the next two Qs.
Buying developers: RIM is guaranteeing $10,000 in revenue over 12 months for every app that is certified. For a company that is supposed to be on death’s door the conference was as busy if not more so than last year.
koolrosh May 2, 2012 at 11:34 am
Even though his conclusion is negative, there were alot of positive statements in his analysis.
"Developer and carrier attendance is higher than we expected"
"Surprisingly carriers have not given up on RIM yet: all the major carriers (e.g., Vodafone, Telefonica, AT&T, VZ) are at the conf and 115+ countries are represented."
"We spoke to carriers and think it is quite remarkable that they are giving RIM another chance this Fall."
The only negative that he sees is that the Dev devices have poor battery life, and that the OS is "rough". What he doesn't seem to understand is that these are DEV ALPHA DEVICES, they are just for testing do not have BB10 on them.
Based on his analysis I am buying more stock.

It sure is nice to hear some positive thoughts about Rim rather than all the negative stuff in the media. I'm excited about the new phone. Thanks

Kevin calls it like he sees it. During the last BlackBerry World I remember the following cartoon of the previous CEO striking out. Not so hot. This time Kevin saw something that got him pumped!
I know my co-workers and I were jumping up and down when we saw the keyboard and camera features.
Nice!
herculesinwyoming May 2, 2012 at 10:56 am
That review isn't so bad, he says the conference is way busier than expected
marcosis May 2, 2012 at 11:10 am
Rocky Balboa said it best; "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!" RIM may be the underdog but they still have a lot of fight left in them and we(the CrackBerry Nation) are here to fight alongside them.

Anyone figure out what's the message printed on Kevin's t-shirt? #1 BlackBerry..?
diego.roscetti May 2, 2012 at 11:49 am
Fanboy. Classic shirt he has been wearing for a while.
shaleem May 2, 2012 at 11:19 am
It really does not matter what the so called "experts" have to say. I think it was Kevin who said that RIM is not trying to ruin Apple or any other company. They are looking to develop their own niche. In my opinion, there are too many positives working in RIM's favor for it to go bust. Also, if I'm not mistaken, their financial strength is very good. Not everyone wants an iPhone or an Android. BlackBerry is a reliable platform for many of us who see no need to jump ship or panic because some technogeek doesn't like the product. Many of us use BlackBerry because it does exactly what we want it to do, and need it to do, in a very reliable way. Granted, there are many people who just want the "next big thing" out there, but RIM is no flash in the pan folks. It is here to stay.
axllebeer May 2, 2012 at 11:29 am
Well said Kevin, well said...
raggededge#cb May 2, 2012 at 11:33 am
Wow, the http://market-ticker.org doesn't pull any punches this morning. RIMM is down another 5% today.
BB_Vee May 2, 2012 at 11:50 am
Great interview Kevin. I am definitely gonna hang on to my 9780 until BB10 devices come out later this year. I've never been keen on all touch phones but the new typing experience showcased has me thinking of changing my mind. I may get the all touch BB10
Perjade May 2, 2012 at 12:02 pm
Is Kevin really that excited ? What RIM showed was not very revolutionary. It is not enough to make iPhone and Andriod users suddenly drop their phones and run after Blackberry10. He knows that . Almost every tech-site I checked out had negative rewievs of BB 10. BGR: " Even with BB 10 , RIM is still dead"! Gizmodo, All Things D and others had similar articles. It's really un uphill battle for RIM?
xenrobia May 2, 2012 at 12:09 pm
Yes, a very impressive interview, Kevin, have you considered applying for RIM's CMO position?
I think you'd probably do very well at it, although you might have to get a haircut. I don't know if you'd be willing to go that far. :D
Zizzzzy May 2, 2012 at 12:37 pm
I could listen to Kevin talk geek on this stuff for hours. So much knowledge.
sam_b77 May 2, 2012 at 12:59 pm
Wow Kevin's enthusiasm is so contagious.
Check him out around the 45 second mark. He turns into a kid over the cheering question :).
pshemek May 2, 2012 at 1:14 pm
Oh Kevin - your name sounds Polish and therefore should be pronounced Mee-ha-look.
xenrobia May 2, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Being from Edmonton, I'd say it was Ukrainian and as hard as I've tried to teach the proper Polish pronunciation, they usually don't listen anyway. ;)
pshemek May 2, 2012 at 6:05 pm
Yeah it might be Ukrainian too, but there are lots of such sounding names in Poland hence the history of both countries. I still think it's more Polish due to spelling 'ch' instead of just 'h'. But all in all pronunciation is exactly the same Mee-ha-look :)
Pearl9100 May 2, 2012 at 1:43 pm
Kevin, you have very odd body language that differs with most people.
Ex. You shake your head "no" when you are agreeing with people. At 3:04, you said people have good vibes this week, but you are shaking your head no in disagreement.
Anyways, I wanted to point this out....lol...not that you would read this comment.
Take it easy.

RIMs-Pegasus-2012
arising from the ashes with a new song
You guys are missing the most obvious marketing campaign,,,
You should sign up Pierce Brosnan To Run the QNX Porsche with a Blackberry like in the Tomorrow Never Dies...(sure it was an Ericsson)...but a QNX makes more sense....and promotes the BB10...
give it a thought...Besides... ever since Daniel Craig came along...007 has lost it's appeal...
bring back the real Coke...er..real Bond... and his Martini's shaken not stirred and drop kick the Heineken's from Skyfall....... ;)
(ok.....so if you have to use Tom Cruise in a spoof version of it ..that would work as well ;)
Just make sure he gets the SMIRK to "Q" right .... ;)

RIMs-Pegasus-2012
arising from the ashes with a new song
Imagine ...Martini in one hand..BB10 in the other...smooth Flowing call of the Porsche to Valet Parking...Gorgeous Spy in a red dress on one arm....
Meanwhile..Austin Powers fumbles on his Iphone calling up a Clown car...(I'm in bed with a clown commercial)
you get the picture...have fun with it...
Bet you laughed at the picture itself...
