Rogers Visual Voicemail for BlackBerry

If you have a BlackBerry or Android device on Rogers, and felt left out of the convenience that is visual voice mail, you can now join the ranks of iPhone users that have had it for quite some time now on the same carrier. Yes, that's right. Rogers is going to be offering the service to its customers with BlackBerry smartphones -- except, only the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Torch 9800 will be supported at launch. It is rumored that more devices will be added after the launch, but seeing how long it took for Rogers to release visual voice mail for BlackBerry in the first place, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

The service will be accessible through an app called Visual Voicemail Plus, and features an extra function that the iPhone version does not: the ability to save your messages indefinitely. The service is said to cost the same as non-visual enhanced voicemail and is set to launch in February.

YouMail

In June, YouMail Inc. updated their popular Visual Voicemail Plus app to include several great improvements such as One-Touch Community Greetings & Number Search available In-App. Now YouMail Inc. has once again updated their app to version 2.5.17 with even more improvements making your voicemail messages truly visual.

The Visual Voicemail Plus service now features a new and comprehensive Visual Caller ID component that makies it closer to a true call management system for your BlackBerry device. Visual Caller ID visually identifies both missed callers and callers who have left messages with a name, a photo and city/state information, even when the number calling is not in the user’s address book.  This allows you to scan & listen to your voicemail messages in any order you choose. When you add this new addition to the other great features like custom contact greetings (love having one for my kids that says "if you're calling to ask for money, you may as well hang up"), checking messages via your pc, calling voicemail # orvia their  app as well as the option to share messages via email (comes in handy when trying to schedule an appointment for mulitple people), blogs and social network sites, that are already available for free, it pretty much makes other number and voicemail services redundant.

YouMail Visual Voicemail Plus

In the United States, YouMail Visual Voicemail Plus is a popular (and free) visual voicemail application. In my opinion, it’s the way voicemail services should be. Think about it. Why should we have to go through voice prompts and have to skip through messages so clumsily? With YouMail, voicemail can be scanned through to access them in the order you want to. It’s especially helpful to be able to look at the time of call, the caller’s name and the message length (supports up to 2 minutes in length). What you do with your messages is up to you. You can forward off messages as blog posts, tweets, to Facebook or even archive them for life. Additionally, you can manage unwanted callers, record personal greetings, and actually read the voicemail message instead of listening to it. YouMail was recently updated to version 2.3.4. Among its updates, two stand out as substantial additions:

One-Touch Community Greetings and Management. A new navigation bar lets you easily access greeting settings, like what greetings play for your callers, and how you want to handle “blocked” numbers. In addition, the YouMail greetings community, with tens of thousands of greetings, is just a few clicks away from within the app itself.

Number Search Available In-App. It's YouMail's belief that once you receive a call from an unwanted number, you should never have to receive a call from that number again. In this latest update, YouMail's Caller Search lets you quickly do a Google search right from the “menu” key, so you’ll know the real story behind any phone number you're not familiar with.

YouMail offers a free service, as well as premium services. Through the Premium service, you are able to save 5000+ messages and support messages that are 5 minutes in length or longer. You also get Privacy Manager – enabling you to get phone numbers with Blocked or Unknown numbers. The app itself is free from the CrackBerry AppStore. If you want to upgrade to a premium service, rates start at just $1.99 per month.

Contest: We have 20 annual basic transcription packages to be won. That's a savings of $8.99/month. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post to be entered. Contest ends this Sunday at midnight PST.

BlackBerry Tour 2 9650 Visual Voicemail Install Files Found Online

We've seen RIM's little mistake with the Facebook posting. Kevin went hands on with it way back in October of 2009 and finally, just like the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 it's been spotted more times then a leopard. Now, here are rolling into February full on and no release of the BlackBerry Tour 2 / 9650 is to be had as of yet. But, thats not to say there isn't still news and rumors to be posted about it.

The keen eyes of the Twitter world provide us with the latest tidbit. Mike Lawson has spotted, which was reported by Berryscoop the installation files for visual voicemail for the BlackBerry Tour 9650 directly on the Verizon servers. No telling exactly how long it's been there or what might one do with it since you can't exactly go out an pick up a 9650. But lets all just hope it's a new edition to the VZW website and it means the BlackBerry 9650 is closer to getting all official like on us.

Bell Launches Visual Voicemail For Their BlackBerry Offerings

While plenty of US customers are already enjoying their visual voicemail services, Canadian carriers have yet to enable it on their end (except TELUS). Bell Mobility has made the jump though. BlackBerry users can now sign up for a free 30 day trial of visual voicemail where after the 30 days is up you are expected to pay $8/mnth for the service.

Now, take under consideration other carriers offer it for free I have to wonder if Bell will at some point yank that pricing. As it stands now, supported devices are BlackBerry Bold 9700, BlackBerry Tour 9630, BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and BlackBerry 8830. Your turn Rogers, learn from Bells mistake and give it to your customers for free.
