US Cellular

Great news for all US Cellular customers today! TeleNav has announced a partnership with US Cellular to be their navigation service on several devices. Starting today, US Cellular customers with a BlackBerry Tour 9630, Curve 8530, or Pearl Flip 8230 can download Your Navigator Deluxe to their devices.

The best part is that US Cellular is following Sprint's lead and bundling the navigation service into their existing $30 data plan for the BlackBerry devices. I wish all other carriers would follow this approach.

In case you aren't familiar with TeleNav, here is what the service will bring to your device:

  • 3D turn-by-turn navigation
  • Speech recognition
  • Traffic rerouting
  • More than 12 million business listings
  • Restaurant reviews
  • Daily gas prices
  • Weather information
  • Integration with email/contacts/calendars
  • An online trip preplanning site (http://uscc.telenav.com)

Telenav for BlackBerry Smartphones Takes to the Road and Gets Reviewed!

[ youtube video link for mobile viewing ]

One integral part of blackberry smart phones that I use quite often is the GPS feature. However, finding the right navigation application has always been a challenge. The built in Blackberry Maps might suffice for some but for me that wasn't enough. Blackberry Maps doesn't have turn-by-turn, voice guided directions, which is actually missing on all those free GPS applications like Google maps. Then there are the many paid GPS navigation applications like Telmap Navigator and Garmin Mobile that do offer features similar to standalone GPS units. One of those is my now favorite TeleNav GPS Navigator. After using Garmin for so long, I have decided in the last week to try out TeleNav Navigator to see what all the hype was about. With features like full voice guided navigation, automatic rerouting and voice recognition search, it's easy to understand why it's Crackberry's choice as the best GPS navigation program for 2009. Let's take a look at some of the key features in-depth to see why.

TeleNav Track

TeleNav is a well known leader in the navigation industry, but few people know that they offer more than just maps and driving directions. TeleNav has been working hard to expand their portfolio by introducing applications such as OnMyWay to the consumer market. Now they have teamed up with Verizon to offer an enterprise solution for business customers.

TeleNav Track is now available to Verizon Wireless enterprise customers. TeleNav Track offers businesses a new way to utilize the BlackBerry devices many of them already have deployed in the field to become more efficient and reduce costs. It also gives the employer the ability to track employee locations in the field, send new job info to their device, allow employees to clock-in directly from their device, and much more.

Pricing for the service is surprisingly inexpensive, with fees ranging from $14.99 to $27.99 per device depending on the level of service chosen. There is also a one-time setup fee of $24.99 per device.

Check out the press release after the jump for more information.
