BlackBerry Curve 9320 coming soon to T-Mobile UK

We have previously posted some sneak peaks and sightings of the upcoming BlackBerry Curve 9320, but nothing had been officially confirmed by RIM to say that the device would be released. T-Mobile UK has jumped the gun though and has posted the BlackBerry Curve 9320 on their coming soon page as being due for release in May.

The entry level Curve 9320 looks to be an upgrade to the Curve 9300 (3G) and will be running BlackBerry 7. If you missed it the first time around, you can check out the Curve 9320 specifications from here.

The Curve 9320 also brings back the left-convenience key but this time as a BBM dedicated button which I find to be a pretty neat feature. You can register on the T-Mobile UK website to get updates on when it will be available.

What's Next For BlackBerry

It's been quite a while since we heard of T-Mobile and RIM teaming up for any announcements but it looks like something is cooking for March in Washington, D.C. Seems as though invitations were sent off for a special event that is welcoming those invited to get a look at what's next for BlackBerry. Hard to say at this point what it may be due to the lack of information available but hopefully we'll get some more details soon. Anyone care to toss some guesses around? The BlackBerry 7 logo makes us believe it'll be BlackBerry 7 related but that's not exactly a dead giveaway.

AT&T and T-Mobile

Well that's that. AT&T has officially given up on their plans to aquire T-Mobile. After months of effort, AT&T has released a statement that puts an end to their plans for good.

"The actions by the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice to block this transaction do not change the realities of the U.S. wireless industry. It is one of the most fiercely competitive industries in the world, with a mounting need for more spectrum that has not diminished and must be addressed immediately. The AT&T and T-Mobile USA combination would have offered an interim solution to this spectrum shortage. In the absence of such steps, customers will be harmed and needed investment will be stifled."

So if you're on T-Mo you won't have to worry anymore about getting eaten up by AT&T and apparently Carly won't be trading in her pink dress for one in blue.

CarrierIQ T-Mobile

*UPDATE* - CarrierIQ is ran through the My Account application from T-Mobile. As noted:

On BlackBerry CIQ is attached to My Account. The Customer will need to accept the permissions to allow CIQ to collect and transmit data.

So as long as you never use the My Account app and never agree to the terms and conditions as well as accept the permissions CIQ will NOT run on your T-Mobile BlackBerry.

While RIM has gone on record to say they do not install the hotly debated CarrierIQ logging tool on their devices while also stating carriers shouldn't either, new information shows that T-Mobile has gone against the grain and does indeed have CarrierIQ installed on three of their in market BlackBerry smartphones.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9900
  • BlackBerry Curve 9360
  • BlackBerry Torch 9810

If you own any of those three devices listed, you do have CarrierIQ installed on them but the claim from T-Mobile is that it is not for nefarious purposes and that personal data is not being tracked. What is tracked however is, battery performance, dropped calls and application failures.

At this time, we're looking into how to possibly remove it from your BlackBerry smartphones but it's not clear if it is as easy as just switching off of a T-Mobile OS onto another. Once we have some more details, we'll be sure to let you all know and hopefully be able to provide you all with a removal guide. In the meantime though, how do you all feel about CarrierIQ being on your BlackBerry?

T-Mobile white BlackBerry Bold 9900

Hey T-Mobile customers, if you've been hoping to get your hands on a white BlackBerry Bold 9900 it looks like you will soon get your chance! Though it's not showing on the T-Mobile website yet, a pamphlet was mailed out to customers with this month's bill that shows the much sought after device. Pricing lines up with that of the black version of the Bold 9900, coming in at $299 after rebates on a two-year contract. Hopefully we'll see this pop up on T-Mobile's site soon! Will you be picking up the white Bold 9900 when it's available on T-Mobile? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for sending this in Jacob!

T-Mobile Magenta Saturday

If Black Friday sales aren't your thing, T-Mobile is giving you the option of doing some shopping a bit early with their Magenta Saturday sale. This one day only sale is being held November 19th in-store only and you can get some decent deals on a BlackBerry with a new service agreement. Some of these deals include a Bold 9900 for $49.99 down payment after $150 mail-in-rebate, Torch 9810 for $49.99 down payment after $100 mail-in-rebate, and the Curve 9360 with no down payment after $50 mail-in-rebate.

Confused by the term "down payment"? Well, it appears T-Mobile has switched up the way they sell devices, and instead of subsidizing the cost and giving customers free or reduced cost phones, they do a down payment and monthly payment after that for the term of the contract.

The phones listed above actually work out like this:

  • BlackBerry Bold 9900: $199.99 down & $20/mo., total: $599.99; $150 MIR avail.
  • BlackBerry Torch 9810: $149.99 down & $20/mo., total: $549.99; $100 MIR avail.
  • BlackBerry Curve 9360: $49.99 down & $15/mo., total: $349.99; $50 MIR avail.

So, if you're planning on getting a smartphone from T-Mobile, you end up paying more money by taking their monthly plan, vs just paying full cost for the device up front. If you don't have $600 to shell out for a new BlackBerry though, and plan to do the monthly payments, you might as well take advantage of the sale, and get the down payment money back via the mail-in-rebate.

Full press release and details after the break.

T-Mobile BlackBerry Torch 9810

By now, if you're a BlackBerry Torch 9810 fan and on T-Mobile you've heard -- and been counting on them releasing it November 9th. That has been the suggested launch date for a while now and it's been noted once or twice already but just to add some more confirmation on that matter, we were sent the following image highlighting the details. Business customers can order come November 2nd, with consumer options for ordering made available November 9th. Thanks, B!

BB Torch T-Mo

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 is definitely not one of T-Mobile's best kept secrets; we have seen the road map saying it was coming, then we saw it arrive in the internal systems and now we have the device showing up in store. With retail units of the BlackBerry Torch 9810 arriving, could that November 9th date hold up to be true after all? I guess we'll know for sure in another week or so! Thanks, anon!

BlackBerry Torch 9810

We've seen plenty of information about the BlackBerry Torch 9810 arriving on T-Mobile soon. But just in case that previous information wasn't enough to have you believing, the device has once again shown up in some internal documentation. No pricing or release dates is detailed in the image but maybe the November 9th date will stick. Can't lie though, I was really hoping the "BlackBerry Dumoine" -- was something not-yet-released.

T-Mobile November Roadmap

Good news T-Mobilers -- the BlackBerry Torch 9810 may be headed your way very soon. According to a leaked roadmap for October and November, the Torch 9810 (listed here as the Dumoine) could be arriving as early as November 9th. The Torch 9810 is making the rounds to various carriers and it appears as if T-Mobile may be the next on the list. Although plenty of Android love is to come, no other BlackBerry devices listed here sadly, but unlike AT&T, T-Mobile is already offering the Bold 9900 which has had a great reception thus far.

So if you're a T-Mobile customer, will you be picking up a Torch 9810? Leave a comment and let us know!

Tmobile

When the T-Mobile version of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 launched without Wifi calling, UMA, many users were rather upset, as that is one of the features that many of them seem to use. Over at CIO they have obtained some information from T-Mobile that shows that this feature is still on the way, and will be coming to us in November.

A maintenance release from RIM is expected for the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9900 in November 2011. That update will include Wi-Fi Calling functionality

With the update, the Bold 9900 will have Wi-Fi Calling performance and benefits similar to T-Mobile's other Wi-Fi Calling-enabled BlackBerry devices.

The above statement comes directly from a T-Mobile representative, so we could only hope that the information he has is accurate and that it will not get pushed back for any reason. So T-Mobile Bold 9900 users are you ready to get some Wifi calling on your beloved Bold 9900?
