SIMPLE Mobile

If you need an alternative to contracts and credit checks, or if you have a BlackBerry and just need service with no complications, check this out. Starting today, SIMPLE Mobile is rolling out new pre-paid, flat rate BlackBerry plans. Whether you bring your own phone (BYOP) or buy one through their affiliate program, you can now get full BIS on your BlackBerry with your choice of two plans.

The first is $50/month which gets you unlimited talk, text (domestic and international), BlackBerry Email (BIS), BBM, access to BlackBerry App World and unlimited Web browsing at up to 3G speeds. The $60 BlackBerry plan contains everything in the $50 plan, but also includes high speed Web browsing at up to 4G speeds. SIMPLE Mobile operates on 1700/2100 AWS bands, so if you want to take advantage of the $60 plan, you will need to be sure your device bands match or you will only be able to achieve 2G (EDGE). In other words, if you are bringing your own phone - A T-Mobile device will be capable 3G/4G but an AT&T device will only be capable of 2G.

With all the disgruntled feelings lately surrounding changes other carriers are making to their plans, such as data caps and increased monthly fees, it's nice to see a move in the opposite direction. Full press release can be found after the break!

Vodafone UK

Over the past year a lot of carriers have been adding "Pay As You Go" BlackBerry to their offerings and Vodafone UK is no expection to that. According to their website, PAYG BlackBerry is coming soon. With the BlackBerry Curve 3G, 8520 and the BlackBerry Pearl 3G being the first devices available sometime in October, it's sure to grab a few peoples attention as it requires no contract. You can head on over to the Vodafone UK website for more information, although details are still rather slim as of yet from the carrier.

Verizon Prepaid Data Plans BlackBerry

Starting today Verizon Wireless will be offering new prepaid data plans on all of their 3G smartphones. The list includes the Curve 8330, 8530, Storm 9530, 9550, Tour and Bold 9650. The plans will run $30 for a month of unlimited data.

"These new data offerings will help our prepaid customers experience the full breadth of Verizon Wireless' robust device portfolio and the many engaging, informative and helpful applications that depend on a data plan," said Jim Sullivan, director of marketing for Verizon Wireless. "Our prepaid customers will now have the freedom to enjoy all of the capabilities that these phones have to offer, while controlling costs and without being tied to a contract."

From the looks of it users should be able to just bring their own devices into a store and add on a prepaid data plan, with online options coming on September 28th. Read more after the jump

Boost Mobile

Word on the street is that Boost Mobile will offer up prepaid BlackBerry service on January 13th with the Curve 8330. BGR dropped some screens showing the Curve 8330 listed in the Boost system, and from the looks of it, the 8330 will be available for $249 and carry unlimited talk, text and web for $70 a month. I'm a big fan of T-Mobile's FlexPay, so I can only assume that some users who want to stick to CDMA will be all over this. I think that prepaid BlackBerry offerings are a great thing for those who don't want to get wrapped up in a contract, and while the 8330 obviously isn't the "latest and greatest", at least it gives some users another contract-free option.
