We used to have MLB.com At Bat, NHL Game Center, NFL Mobile and more ... but where are all the BlackBerry sports apps now?
BlackBerry users are sports fans too!

Sad Mr. Met

Hi. My name is Adam and I'm a BlackBerry user and a sports fan. What's that? Those two can't go together? Sure they can, but I guess you wouldn't know it after a stroll through BlackBerry App World. You see, until this year (for the most part), major sports leagues seemed to have no problem pushing out their apps for BlackBerry users. Sure, our apps were at times slimmed down compared to their iOS and Android counterparts, but at least we had something. 2012 brings in yet another year for baseball, basketball, football, hockey ... you get the picture ... but where are the BlackBerry apps?

If you run through iTunes or Google Play, you can easily find MLB.com at Bat, NHL Gamecenter, NBA Game Time and plenty more apps from the major sports leagues. You can easily seek out an app for pretty much any sport of which you're a fan and there are plenty from which to choose. Why aren't any of these apps available on BlackBerry? Your guess is as good as mine.

NFL Mobile

For all you Football fans out there, Verizon has posted an updated version of their NFL Mobile application. Maybe the more interesting thing here is that now works on BlackBerry 6. Anyone making use of BlackBerry 6 on their 9650 will find that the app now works perfectly on their device. Be sure to grab the update. Thanks to PKCable for digging this up for us!

NFL Mobile from Verizon NFL Mobile from Verizon

Starting last week the updated NFL Mobile app was being pushed to Verizon Bold 9650 users. The app has the same guts as in previous years but adds in some features to keep things fresh. While it rings in at a whopping 2.8MB download, it does pack quite a punch if you're at all a fan of the NFL. You can get breaking news, highlights, video on demand and more. Follow the preseason with stats and updates all the way to kickoff. When the season starts, NFL Mobile brings live video and audio as well as the RedZone Fantasy Tracker. Verizon 9650 users should see a download icon pop up if you haven't already.

NFL Mobile

Verizon this weekend has released the NFL Mobile app for their native devices. Just in time for the NFL draft, the free app brings the latest NFL news, draft news, detailed information about current prospects and more. We assume the app will have some great draft coverage, and during the season will run with scores, schedules, news and all that good stuff. Verizon users can snag it free from mobile.vzw.com/nfl (if you're on another carrier don't bother trying to download, I already tried and its a no go). Hit the forums for some more discussion.
