Jennifer Lopez Follow the Leader

Several times in the past we've seen BlackBerry smartphones make appearances in Jennifer Lopez's music videos, as well as in paparazzi shots and her new show Q'Viva!, leading us to believe that she's a long time fan of the platform. The latest video by Wisin & Yandel called Follow the Leader features Jennifer Lopez, and the opening scenes of the video show all 3 singers using Twitter for BlackBerry on various devices. First a white BlackBerry Bold 9900, then a blue Curve 9220, and finally a Verizon branded Bold 9930 all make an appearance. Of course, the version of Twitter for BlackBerry they are using isn't very realistic as it was obviously enhanced for the video, but it's awesome to see nonetheless.

Interesting to note, the video was shot in Acapulco, Mexico where the government was all too happy to provide whatever extra security and the like that was needed by the singers. The State Secretary of Tourism, Graciela Báez Ricardez, said the video clip will help reposition the image of the port. "The music video will be seen in many countries and millions of times mainly by young people who will make decisions on where to go to take a vacation soon," she said.

It seems that every time we post a music video or other form of Celebrity Sighting, there are always comments wondering why we should care about such "trivial" things. If you take a look at the screenshot above, you'll notice that in less than a week from the video being posted on Youtube it's gotten almost 5 million views. That's a lot of views, and since all 3 performers are using a BlackBerry in such a prominent way during the video, it's sure to have some influence on their audience, not unlike the influence that Ricardez mentioned above regarding tourism.

Take a look at the video below, and leave a comment letting us know what you thought! Thanks for sending this in BoldWorld!

We've seen several fan made BlackBerry music videos in the past. Who can forget classic hits like She Did Me Shady on the BBM, Textual Healing, and Ping Me Baby? Today the crew at M Crown Productions sent in their latest music video, a parody dealing with BlackBerry addiction, called I Turn My BlackBerry Off. Check it out!

We've seen a few songs from devoted BlackBerry fans in the past, like Ping Me Baby and Textual Healing. A new one was sent in by CrackBerry member Jake2826 called She Did Me Shady on the BBM by You Dog, You -- and maybe it's the fangirl in me, but I think it's awesome. Check it out!

As the title says, this video is not safe for work, or for kids really, so beware when watching. With that said, it's Friday and time to have a bit of fun! Singer Cassandra Kubinski gives us her version of Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing, called Textual Healing. There are a few somewhat taboo subjects in the song, ones that we've all heard mention of, but no one really talks about. The lyrics are pretty catchy, and I'm sure I'll be humming them all day. Enjoy the video.

Thanks James!

Review: Dipdive for BlackBerry

Dipdive

While many are looking to the future while CES is going on, I can’t help but look back as well. You hear of products being announced officially and unofficially; some stay in the spotlight, while others fade away. I was checking out the blog and going back to CES 2009, when Kevin gave us our first look at Dipdive. Dipdive takes social networking and entertainment and mashes them into an amazing website.

Users can keep tabs on specific channels, upload their own media/blog and gain access to exclusive performances and other content. The mobile app enables you to step away from your computer and hit the streets, the club, the studio or wherever the music takes you. Through the app you can view and share media in a whole new way. Let’s “dipdive” into the review shall we? Heh, like what I did there?

BBM Theme Song - Ping me baby! [video]

[ youtube video link for mobile viewing ]

We've seen a bunch of music videos dedicated to BlackBerry over the past few years. Some awesome and some well, not so much. This one however, is really kinda catchy and if you don't really like the song, you have to admit the video to go with it is genius, yet simple. Riz, the artist behind the song is also giving away a BlackBerry Bold (no, we dunno which version) along with a free mp3 download of the song itself. You can hit the website for more details on that. Side note, notice the timestamps? A lot of takes and editing I assume.

Shazam For BlackBerry Updated To Version 2.5- Music Videos And 7Digital Music Purchases Added

Shazam for BlackBerry rolled out version 2.5 last week. Some cool new functions were added to the mix with this release that I'm sure most users can appreciate. Especially, since they work quite nicely from my testing. The rundown of new features is as follows:

  • Searching And Launching Of YouTube Videos From Tagged Music.
  • In App Ability To "Tweet" Tagged Music To All Of Your Twitter Followers.
  • Integrated In App Music Purchases Direct From The 7Digital Music Store.

Since its initial release, Shazam hasn't really seen that many updates or functionality added. So these additions are welcomed ones for sure. You can check out the free or paid versions of Shazam in BlackBerry App World. For me, the 5 tags per month the free version offers is enough but other users may want the unlimited tagging options that Shazam Encore brings. In either case, the free version of Shazam does offer a free 7 day trial to try out the service so you can decide.
