If you're a big foursquare user you've no doubt had times where you have missed checking in somewhere simply because you forgot. "Wouldn't it be great if I could somehow check-in automatically?" you thought. Well LittleBrother for BlackBerry is here to save the day. With this handy app from Emacberry you can do just that. After a bit of setup, LittleBrother will automatically check you in to venues you have specified, as long as you're within 50m for at least 2 minutes. While it works really well for the most part, there are some kinks. If you're in a large city or your venues are close together (as I found at CES in Las Vegas) you'll have trouble differentiating venues, so you'll need to choose just a few so you don't overlap and end up checked-in at the wrong venue. At home however where the venues I frequent are fairly far apart, I've really had no issues thus far. Cell Towers your BlackBerry has connected with and email the locations as a KML file. A KML (Keyhole Markup Language) is used to display geographic information via a browser like Google Earth. Because you are the popular one (and probably a Big Brother), LittleBrother is a great way of letting people know when you are getting close, or when you are on your way. Matthias let us know that his GPS utility LittleBrother has been updated to fix a recently discovered bug within the app. LittleBrother is a handy app that lets you keep family and friends
informed of your location while using very few resources on your device.
The current version of the application did not notify users about an accidental expiration, however a new version has since fixed the issue and things are back to normal. Users can download the latest version OTA or use the "Check for Update" function within the app.

LittleBrother, the new beta application from eMacBerry is very small GPS utility that is being offered to users who wish to keep friends and family members aware of their location. The biggest claim for the application however, is that it uses the least amount of power and resources available in order to provide such information. In the past, GPS utilities have been known as power hungry, data intense applications. LittleBrother is looking to change that by offering a zero power consuming tracking solution.

LittleBrother Core Features:

• Automatically send eMail and/or SMS notification when the device is leaving a certain area:  If your device will be moved into an area where you normally never would going too [could be ideally combined with other applications like SmrtGuard to wipe your device remotely]
• Automatically send eMail and/or SMS notification when the device is returning into a certain area: Let your loved once know, that you are coming home soon (e.g. returning from work)
• Export the local CellTower Database (locations) to a KML-File and send it via eMail: To be used with GoogleEarth to get an overview of all the CellTowers you have recorded so far.
• Support for device 'Backup & Restore': Keep all your LittleBrother CellToer Records when you updating your OS or change your BlackBerry® device! 

Since LittleBrother is a beta application, users are encouraged to download the app and test it out. Of course, if you have any suggestions for additions you can always forward them off to Matthias for consideration. If you're looking for a simple tracking solution and a way to inform friends and family of where you are, maybe LittleBrother is just the app you need.
