 BlackBerry App Switcher

So many BlackBerry users and so many ways to navigate a device. Everyone finds what works best for them as far as getting around their personal device, and while some may make use of certain features, others may not even know about them. One of these that comes to mind is the App Switcher. This simple task lets you quickly switch between open apps simply by pressing and holding the Menu key on your device. I personally never really use the App Switcher but I know many users who can't get by without it. So our question today is this: Do you use the App Switcher on your BlackBerry? Cast your vote in the poll above, then leave a comment letting us know what works best for you. Thanks @kurtbert!

 BlackBerry Now Playing

With all the streaming music apps out there, it's sometimes hard to pick just one. Everyone has their favorite for various reasons, but for the most part all of the services offer pretty much the same features. Some users choose what works best for them on their BlackBerry alone, while others love the cross-platform nature of an app. When all is said and done it's a "to each his own" kind of choice. We're curious to know which streaming music app is the most popular with BlackBerry users. Let us know in the poll above, then leave a comment letting us know why you use the app you picked.

 BlackBerry Bold 9780 Email Setup

Way back when I first got into my geeky internet lifestyle, I had loads of email addresses floating around. I had a Hotmail, Yahoo!, ISP email, Gmail and many more. I was eager to try out all the various services "just because" and had no real organization to anything. In recent years I've consolidated to using just a few accounts, and while the others are still active, I haven't touched them in years.

On my BlackBerry I currently have four active email accounts. My AT&T BIS email as well as three Gmail accounts. I think that's plenty for me as I hate to manage more than I can handle. What I'm curious to know is just how many email accounts CrackBerry readers have on their device? BlackBerry smartphones allow up to 10 emails on BIS (which would drive me nuts) but I'm assuming not many have all the slots filled up. So let us know in the poll above just how many you have on your device, then leave a comment letting us know why.

What's your data flavour?

So in the blogs, you don’t really hear too much about BlackBerry data plans. Sure we talk about devices, accessories, applications and such, but we don’t spend too much time on what makes the BlackBerry magic happen (most of the time) – the data plans. These plans have definitely come a far way from what they originally offered. 2006-ish brought us blockbusters like the Pursuit of Happyness, The Da Vinci Code and super amazing data plans like a whopping 200MB of data for a measly $100 per month. All joking aside, not everyone leans on a full data package in order to feed their BlackBerry addiction. Many carriers offer plans dubbed BIS Lite (email and instant messaging apps only) or BIS Social (instant messaging and social networking apps only) that seem to be more than enough access for some. There are even pay-by-the month options, which are similar to pay-as-you-go plans.

I'm comfortable with having a good old regular, full BIS accessible, data plan and use WiFi at work and home. What type of data plan do you use? Do you have full BIS or are you more of a BIS Lite or Social type? Are you pay by the month? Or are you like our own Yousif, who doesn’t even have BIS available and relies on WiFi and such to get through the day? Pick an option for the poll that describes your access. Don’t forget to leave a comment that tells us what you are using and why.

 BlackBerry Torch Holster

Throughout the years I've always seemed to change up the way I carry my BlackBerry. I started out using a belt-clip holster when I first had my 8830WE. From there I moved on to a leather pocket pouch with my Curve 8330, then slowly moved away to just a simple skin case and carried my device in my pocket. The last few years now (back to when I first got my Bold 9700 I'd say) I've pretty much migrated to not using a case at all and just carrying my device in my pocket (pants, jacket or whatever is easiest). I'll admit that many times when I'm out my BlackBerry never actually leaves my hand, but when enough is enough I'll tuck it away in a pocket for a minute or two until I feel the need to check it again.

So what is the best carrying solution for you? Do you use a holster of some sort? Carry your device in your purse/briefcase? Are you a "holder" or does your pocket work just fine? Understandably lots of you will have some variations as to how you carry your device, so choose the poll option that best suits you. Be sure to leave a comment letting us know why you do what you do. Thanks rrrebo!

Hs-300 Headset

There are tons of hands-free solutions for smartphone users. Wireless headsets, wired headsets, stereo headphones, car kits, speakerphones and more. They all work in a "to each his own" kind of way, with users taking what works best for them as their favorite option. When on the go I typically like to use the BlackBerry Visor in my car for hands-free use, but sometimes turn to my old HS-300 as a backup. I'm honestly not a big phone talker so choosing a setup isn't a huge deal for me, but for many that are constantly on the go a solid Bluetooth solution is essential. So what we want to know is what type of hands-free solution works best for you. Are you a headset user? Do you only use your integrated car system? Cast your vote in the poll above and leave a comment letting us know why what you do works best. Thanks rrebo!

BBM

When it comes to communicating with people a BlackBerry can't be beat. Email, BBM, SMS, IM - it's all there. The method of choice from BlackBerry to BlackBerry is obviously BBM, but what about those contacts who don't own a BlackBerry? You have many options to stay in touch, but what is your method of choice? Do you use SMS? Email? IM? A cross-platform messenger? Cast your vote in the poll above and let us know how to communicate with those people that aren't BlackBerry users, then leave a comment letting us know why what you do works best. Thanks rrrebo!

 BlackBerry BIS email signature

One of the issues that used to bother users most (and probably still does) is that pesky email signature you get when adding email addresses. Sent From My BlackBerry (or some incarnation) shows after all your emails - some users don't mind it while others can't stand it. I personally go with no signature, but I know many like to go with Sent from my CrackBerry or something else that is more personal. You can always just blank it out or change it up, but we want to know how many of you actually do that. So our quetsion today is: Do you use the standard BlackBerry email signature or change it up to something else. Cast your vote in the poll above, then leave a comment telling us what you do. Thanks Alicia!

Another week another burning BlackBerry question in hopes on an answer. Our pal Fabian sent this one in and now I'm curious to know as well. We all know that apps are a big part of the BlackBerry experience. Some users have a few while others have tons. I like to keep my app bank small (10 or so) but some people I know have over 50 apps on their device. When it comes to games however it's a totally different story. BlackBerry has never been known as a gaming device, so finding good ones can someitmes be a challenge. I actually don't have any games on my device at the moment, so I'm curious to know just how many of you play games on your device. This poll could have gone in multiple directions (how many games, what device etc) but we'll try to keep it simple. We just want to know if you do or don't play games on your device. We've split it up into two polls - one for touchscreen users (Torch, Storm) and one for everyone else. So cast your vote in the poll above, then drop a comment letting us know why you do or don't play games on your BlackBerry.

BlackBery LED notifier

I know this one sounds like a bit of a "duh" question, but I know there are actually users who don't use the LED indicator for notifications. I've been through phases where I just got plain tired of seeing the LED flash, and since I checked my device so often anyway, figured I didn't need to have it on. Now I actually use BerryBuzz for BBM, SMS and a few other apps but still don't have an LED set for emails. Weird huh? So do you use the LED? Do you hate it? Do you use a 3rd party app (like BerryBuzz) I'm curious to know if I'm alone in my protest of the LED, so cast your vote in the poll above then leave a comment letting us know what works for you.

BlackBerry Charging

Here's one that was asked of me and I was very curious to know the results as well. Ever since I've owned a BlackBerry I've popped it on my charger overnight. I usually don't eat too much of the battery during the day, but if I do of course I'll charge it when I need to. I know others that like to use a charger whenever they can - be it in the car, at the office or just sitting at home. So our question today is this: When do you charge your BlackBerry? Are you just a night charger? A charge whenever you can? Cast your vote in the poll and leave a comment letting us know!

 Sleeping BlackBerry

I know this one sounds a bit weird but I am generally curious what everyone does with their device at night. I have always been a big fan of the charging pod/bedside mode combo, but I know others use the Auto On/Off (as I did when I got my first device). I'm curious what the majority of you do when you put your device to bed at night. Do you use bedside mode like me? Auto On/Off? Do you just power off your device before you go to bed? Cast your vote in the poll above then leave a comment letting us know!

 BlackBerry Torch 9800 Keyboard

When I break out my Torch I sometimes have trouble deciding if I prefer using the physical keyboard or touchscreen keyboard better. I know when I first got it I was a huge fan of the physical keyboard. It was (and still is) one of my favorite keyboards on any device, however Bla1ze was pretty much stuck on the touchscreen keyboard, so I gave that a shot as well. Once I got fairly good at using it, I had a hard time deciding which to use. I essentially just bounce back and forth but can't say for sure which one I prefer. So Torch users this one's for you - which keyboard do you prefer and use the most? Do you use the physical keyboard? The touchscreen? Or maybe you split your time between the two? Cast your vote in the poll and leave a comment letting us know what you use.

 Unviersal Search

To tie in with our quick tip from yesterday I was curious to know just how OS6 users access Universal Search. I've swapped methods more than a few times, but now I seem to stick to the shortcut key. Out of the box on OS6 devices you can access Universal Search just by typing on the keyboard, but as I found out a few weeks into my OS6 experience, you can also turn off Universal Search from the homescreen (Options > Display > Home Screen Preferences) in favor of application shortcuts. I actually prefer to have my homsecreen keyboard shortcuts instead of Universal Search and all I have to do is hit "S" to start searching.

So what do you do? Do you have your homescreen set to Universal Search or do you use application shortcuts? Cast your vote in the poll and leave a comment below! Thanks MrCippy!

 BlackBerry Music Player

I've never been one to use my BlackBerry as a media player. Honestly as soon as I get a new device, I always hide both the music and video icons and rarely ever use them. I've had my trusy iPod for as long as I can remember, and when I'm on the go it's my music player of choice. Part of me just likes having a separate music player, and I suppose part of me worries that I'll eat up my BlackBerry battery when I'm out and about if I use it as a media player. So today I have to ask - do you use your BlackBerry as a multimedia player for music and/or video? I'm sure lots of you have all your music loaded up and ready to roll, while others are like me and use a separate device. Cast your vote in the poll above, and leave a comment letting us know why.
