Gwabbit

It's been some time since we initially looked at Gwabbit, although -- in that time they've made some pretty decent improvements to their app and services overall. There latest update is more of a server side update rather then an actual application update. If you're not familiar with Gwabbit, then let me explain. Gwabbit, scans all of your incoming emails for contact info -- if info is found, it can then be automatically added to your address book so that you always have that info available.

Every now an then though the recognition engine, the system that determines what is contact info and what is not -- needs to be updated. In this case, Gwabbit has updated their server side services to version 2.0 which in turn will produce more accurate readings of info and ensuring the Gwabbit app works correctly when adding contacts to your address book.

If you're already a Gwabbit user, such as myself -- then you need not do anything. If you're new to Gwabbit though, this would be a good time to check it out as the services are much improved over previous versions. Gwabbit is available as a free and premium application with the premium version costing $9.99/year.

Gwabbit for BlackBerry Smartphones Now Available

Back at WES 2009 at the beginning of this month, one of the solutions to get a lot of attention was Gwabbit for BlackBerry (see our first post on it here). Whether you like the name or not, Gwabbit is a pretty handy tool for those in business who get a ton of emails on a regular basis and are lazy when it comes to converting those contacts to address book entries. Gwabbit scans your emails for signatures and contact info and automatically does the job for you! It's now officially available, so you can read on for all the press release details below.

WES 2009: Coming Soon... Gwabbit!

Introducing Gwabbit!

While venturing through parts of the BlackBerry showcase yesterday, I happened to come across this great application called Gwabbit! Gwabbit for those that don't know has been running a Microsoft Outlook plugin for a while now with great success and have now decided to bring the plugin to BlackBerry devices. Speaking with the representatives on hand and getting a better perspective on how Gwabbit works it is an application that will be added to my device as soon as it is available.

Gwabbit's main purpose is to scan your emails for signature links and add them directly to your address book. Awesome! Gwabbit will have a pricing model though as it will be considered a subscription based service when launched (server side processing makes it more than a simple on-device app). Personally I don't have anything against paying the requested $9.95/year for such a handy utility. Another thing to mention - Gwabbit utilizes their own servers to process information, so some users may not want to allow this type of access to the application for security purposes. You can read the Gwabbit privacy policy for more details. Gwabbit should be available on or before May 25th via App World.
