Foursquare for BlackBerry

Foursquare for BlackBerry has received another update today, bringing it to version 3.9. Added are some pretty cool features that keep it on top of my favorite apps list. Now included is message list integration, so you can view your foursquare messages/notifications right in your inbox. Also added is NFC support for sharing venues/tips via NFC providing you are on OS 7 - very cool stuff. You can grab the update free now in BlackBerry App World.

Foursquare for BlackBerry
is currently rolling a little bit of a bug fix update for users. The last release brought v3.8 to the table while this release bumps it up to v3.8.1. As noted in the change log, this should fix:

  • UI improvements to Explore
  • Language fixes to the Russian translations
  • Improved map support for users where BlackBerry Maps is unavilable

The update is available now in BlackBerry App World, if you're not seeing it you can try refreshing App World or just wait a little bit longer -- it'll appear soon as available for download.

LittleBrother Beta BlackBerry LittleBrother Beta BlackBerry

If you're a big foursquare user you've no doubt had times where you have missed checking in somewhere simply because you forgot. "Wouldn't it be great if I could somehow check-in automatically?" you thought. Well LittleBrother for BlackBerry is here to save the day. With this handy app from Emacberry you can do just that. After a bit of setup, LittleBrother will automatically check you in to venues you have specified, as long as you're within 50m for at least 2 minutes. While it works really well for the most part, there are some kinks. If you're in a large city or your venues are close together (as I found at CES in Las Vegas) you'll have trouble differentiating venues, so you'll need to choose just a few so you don't overlap and end up checked-in at the wrong venue. At home however where the venues I frequent are fairly far apart, I've really had no issues thus far. For more on just how LittleBrother gets this done and to find out how to get up and running, check out the full changelog at emacberry.com.

  • Fix scroll issue with venue history list.
  • And lots more quick fixes

Michelle's most-used BlackBerry apps of 2011

One of the bad things about being a procrastinator and putting off doing this post: some of my most used apps have already been covered. I'm going to need you guys to all pretend you didn't already read Adam, Bla1ze, Ryan, or Joseph's lists and it will all seem new. Lots of people complain that BlackBerry just doesn't have any apps, and while we are missing some that would be nice to have, I think there are plenty out there to make use of.

In no particular order, my most used BlackBerry apps are:

Foursquare for BlackBerry 3.3

Foursquare for BlackBerry has received another update and now sits at version 3.3. Aside from the fancy new icon, not much new in this version -- a few tweaks from the looks of it, including a smoothed out options screen as well as the addition of notifications (clicking on the foursquare logo in the menu bar). I was hoping to see more (like the new Radar feature on iOS) but it doesn't look like it made the BlackBerry cut this time around. Foursquare is showing the update via BlackBerry App World from my device, although it doesn't seem to be reflected on the web just yet. If you install, be sure to leave a comment letting us know what you find.

Hey foursquare users, it appears an update is rolling out through BlackBerry App World for you. The update brings the app to v3.1.5, and while there is no word on what the changes are, it's likely bug fixes for BlackBerry Messenger 6 integration. Some users were still experiencing trouble linking their accounts together. If you aren't seeing the update when you log in to App World, you can try refreshing by pressing alt+r/s/t on your device.

In a bit of a messy alpha/beta game a few days back, foursquare released an alpha version of their app that included BBM integration. Soon after an official update was released that didn't have BBM integration. Well now the app has been updated again and does have BBM integration. So if you weren't one of the lucky ones to get the alpha up and running, you can now grab version 3.1 from BlackBerry app world and get in on the BBM fun. We're not sure if anything else has changed in this update, so if you spot anything be sure to let us know.

foursquare for BlackBerry 3.0

A few days ago we saw the latest foursquare alpha hit some devices and it included the much anticipated BBM integration. While some were lucky enough to grab it early and run the app without a hitch, other users reported problems and couldn't get things working. Today foursquare for BlackBerry 3.0 is officially avaiable, however it lacks the BBM integration we were hoping for. Features of version 3.0 include:

  • An overhauled UI, from the check-in screen down to your friends list.
  • Explore! Get personalized recommendations on places to go, from your past check-ins, your friends', and the whole foursquare community. Search for what you want (like a lobster roll) or just tap an activity (like ‘drinks' or ‘food'). And, for those of you who like deals, tap the ‘Specials' button to find Specials nearby that are perfect for you.
  • Speaking of Specials, this update allows you to grab daily deals around you from our five partners - LivingSocial, Gilt City, BuyWithMe, YP.com, and zozi. Seamless savings without leaving foursquare.
  • The full leaderboard. See how you're doing compared to your friends.

The foursquare team notes that BBM integration is high on the list and should be available soon however. You can grab foursquare 3.0 free OTA from the link below.
