Fandango for BlackBerry

It's been quite awhile since we talked about the Fandango app for BlackBerry. The latest version of the BlackBerry app offers comprehensive film info, movie trailers, movie tweets, critics’ and consumer reviews and ticket-buying all in one place. Film fans can search for show times by either movie title or ZIP Code, or by using the “GoNow” feature to quickly find the nearest movies playing within the hour and purchase tickets instantly without leaving the app.

Compatible with BlackBerry smartphones running OS5 and higher, including BB7 devices, you can now find the Fandango app in BlackBerry App World. You can also have a download link sent to your phone by texting 'BLACKBERRY' to 'FNDGO' (36346) though messaging rates may still apply.

Review: Fandango for BlackBerry

Fandango

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure how I’ll survive if this Summer gets any hotter. The AC in our place may force me to become a recluse. Of course I may be able to withstand brief periods of heat, when I dash to the car, then dart into work, the mall, even a movie theatre; anyplace with air conditioning! Actually, I wouldn’t mind catching a flick right now; I’ll trade sweating buckets for a bucket of popcorn. I wonder what’s playing? One option would be to hit up a site like Fandango to check out trailers, promotions and show times. But what if you’re already on the road? It’s time to load up the Fandango BlackBerry application. Just make sure you’re not driving, you know, being mostly illegal and all these days.

The Fandango application provides you with “movies at your fingertips”, but shouldn’t it be thumbs in this case? Whatever digits you are using, you will be able to look up theatre locations, read theatre details, browse through movies and even purchase tickets; all without taking a single step out of your air conditioned car. If you’re lucky, you get to the theatre early enough to avoid sitting in the front row.

Fandango Barcode Tickets

Fandango is making the move to bring movie goers into the future by going paperless. The internet movie giant is testing out a plan to use 2D barcodes in theaters instead of the age-old physical paper tickets. Your tickets are delivered to a mobile device in the form of a barcode which the ticket taker can scan with a provided 2D scanner. A great move in making things easier and eliminating the need to pick up your purchased tickets once you arrive at the theater. Fandango is starting out with just a few theaters to start (hit the jump for the full list) but hopefully more will follow along in the near future.

Fandango

A few weeks back we got the heads up that a Fandango app for BlackBerry would be coming in the near future. It looks like some keen eyes at BerryReview noticed that the application is now available. I'm in the same boat wondering why it is available on GetJar and not BlackBerry App World (or elsewhere), but free is free I suppose. The app is available for most devices, and lets you browse movies and showtimes, find theaters, buy tickets and more. Head over to the links below for more info.
