Peep It

Back in January we caught wind of a beta application called Peep It which allowed you to easily read messages without having them show as being read through BlackBerry Messenger. It appears as though the beta went well, some good feedback was received and the folks over at Epic Applications have released the application for your purchasing pleasure in App World.

The concept behind Peep It is quite simple, it allows you to read your BlackBerry Messenger messages without the status of the message changing from "D" to "R". Sure, this isn't useful to everyone, and some think it defeats the purpose of BBM as a whole, don't you ever find yourself wanting to read something and not respond right away?

Peep It is the quickest and easiest way to view your BBM chat histories on your phone. With one click access to view and delete your chats, Peep It makes managing your history easy.

A device running OS 5 or higher is required for the use of this application and reading and responding to your messages is a breeze. Simply launch the application and read your messages -- if you want to reply directly to a message you are reading you can press the menu key and then click launch BBM and it will open right into the conversation for you. If you would like to be able to read your messages without the other party knowing you have done so be sure to hit the link below and grab a copy for yourself today. The application will run you $2.99 but there is a free trial available as well, but that is a small price to pay to end the headaches of "why are you ignoring me" and any other upset comments.

Contest: The fine folks of Epic Applications have given us 25 copies of Peep It to giveaway to you, our favorite readers. Entering is simple, just leave a comment on this post and you are good to go. Contest ends Sunday at Midnight PST.

Peep It

Ever find yourself wanting to read a message on BlackBerry Messenger but either don't have the time to reply, or you just want to know what was said without feeling obligated to reply? Well one of the greatest evils about BlackBerry Messenger is that it shows when a message has been delivered and then once it has been read it changes to "R" -- that was the case until now. Peep It, a new application that is currently in beta in the CrackBerry forums, allows you to read the messages without having them mark as read. The application will require your device to be running OS 5 or above and you do need to enable 'save chat history' in your BBM options for it to do its job.

You will read your messages through the external application and replying is quite simple -- all you have to do is press the Menu key, launch BBM and it will bring you right into the conversation, marking the message as read. Currently the folks at Epic Applications are seeking feedback on the application,so hit the link below, try it out and be sure to let them know how things go for you!

Word Farm

Last month Word Farm made its way over to the BlackBerry world from Android, and the developers were so excited they wanted to run a contest. What better way to try out a new game than for free, right? For those unfamiliar with Word Farm it is a word based game in which you need to connect various letters in an attempt to spell as many words as possible within the one minute game time. The game grows rather addicting, rather quickly, so be sure to enter below for your chance to win a free copy for yourself.

Contest: Epic Applications has been kind enough to give us 100 coupon codes to give away to our readers, and entering is simple. Leave a comment on this post letting us know you want to win, and 100 of you will be selected. One entry per person, contest ends Sunday at midnight PST. Good luck!

Humans vs Aliens

New from Epic Applications is a very cool game, Humans vs Aliens. For some of you who play games on other mobile platforms, this game may seem a bit familiar to you, but is also quite different. The point of the game is just what the name would suggest, guiding your humans to protect the earth from the alien invaders. Throughout the game you will see a number of different obejects such as pitchfork armed farmers, army personel, and many more. The game is definitely a great time waster, and sure to provide hours of fun.

Overall, Humans vs Aliens is one of the best games I have seen on the BlackBerry platform. It's smooth graphics and freedom from lag make this one a great buy. It is available for the 8900, Storm, Tour, Bold, and Torch devices. You can pick it up at BlackBerry App World for $3.99.

Best-sellers, Druglord Wars 2 and Call Blocker Professional, are also on sale for $1.99 this week. You can check out all of them from the link below. Get on it while the gettin' is good!

Wallpaper Wizard

Epic Applications has developed a new tool for your BlackBerry that you're going to want to check out if you love having custom wallpapers on your device. Wallpaper Wizard allows you to create custom collages from your images, right on your device, and automatically set them as your new background. When making this application, the developers paid special attention to the way photos are chosen, displaying them as thumbnails instead of just file names, so you can always be certain that you are choosing the image you want. You can even set Wallpaper Wizard to generate new collages in the background, and set them to rotate at intervals you determine. And if you already have a wallpaper changing app installed that you love (for example the CrackBerry Wallpaper Changer *wink*wink*) you can use it in combination with Wallpaper Wizard. Simply generate the collages, then have your current wallpaper changer rotate them with your other images.

Features:

  • Generate dazzling collages from your images right on your phone!
  • High performance image chooser--the easiest way to select your images. No need to mess with folders or filenames!
  • Extremely intuitive and easy to use
  • 3 Distinct types of collages, with 3 photo size options for each as well as configurable background colors and opacity
  • Switch your wallpaper between images you select on a schedule you set

Unfortunately there is no free trial on Wallpaper Wizard, but you can catch it on sale right now for $2.99 (regularly $3.99) in the CrackBerry store.

I have been testing Home to Phone for the past couple weeks, and have to say it is one of the most useful BlackBerry applications I have come across. Like Android's Chrome to Phone, Home to Phone lets you share web pages to and from your BlackBerry device and desktop browser (Firefox plugin, Chrome beta, or Windows application).

Setting up Home to Phone is simple and easy. It can be done in about 5 minutes. After installing the BlackBerry Home to Phone application, you will need to install the Firefox plugin on your PC. Once both are installed, you will have to set a passcode for authorization on both the device, and the plugin.

Once you are all setup, the fun begins. Remember, Home to Phone allows you to share web pages from both PC to BlackBerry, and BlackBerry to PC. When sending a web page from your PC, the page automatically opens on your BlackBerry, and is almost instant. Another great feature is the ability to send phone numbers, which arrive in your inbox and are clickable, quickly connecting the call.

Overall, Home to Phone is one of the best BlackBerry applications I have used. I use it dozens of times per day and it works without any bugs whatsoever. Personally, throughout my busy day, there are countless situations where this comes in handy. The application is available on all BlackBerry models running OS 5 and up, but really shines on the new BlackBerry 6 webkit browser. You can pick it up at the CrackBerry App Store for the introductary price of $2.99.

Epic Applications has released their latest game for BlackBerry users. Based off their popular Word Shuffle game, they have now launched Word Shuffle 2. Overall, the game has been rebuilt from the ground up. New UI and visuals are in full effect here as well custom audio. All these improvements make the game look and sound great. Considering users of the original Word Shuffle series, previous owners can pick up the updated version for only $2.49 while new users can get in on the action for only $2.99.

Druglord Wars 2 Now Available with New Locations And Features

Druglord Wars has been a long time favorite around here and now Epic Applications has moved the game to the next level. Druglord Wars 2 released yesterday, adds a whole new outlook on the game from the original. New features, new levels and a new scoring system are just a start.

  • Entirely new turn-based fighting system allows you to utilize unique strategies during fights you encounter along your journey
  • A hospital to allow you to recover health, extending your path to greatness
  • Armor to protect you during fights and let you get that last hit in
  • 6 new locations to visit, including international destinations for your worldwide empire
  • Drug values counted towards your high scores to help you top the global high score board, already with over 60,000 scores for you to compete against

With these updates and the previous updates, which added to the UI and graphical experience of Druglord Wars the game has turned out to be one of the best cases of what a developer can do with the resources available. The end result, a beautifully designed and entertaining game for BlackBerry.

Get Drug Lord Wars For Only $1.49 Until January 19th

After having won the CrackBerry award for best game of 2009 and sitting in the top downloads of BlackBerry App World for a while. There is no doubt that Druglord Wars is a fan favorite and hugely popular game among BlackBerry users everywhere. In celebration of winning the CrackBerry Best of 2009 award, Epic Applications has reduced the price of Druglord wars to just $1.49 from now up until January 14th. That's over 70% off of the original price. Big thanks to Epic applications for the sale.

We here at CrackBerry also want to send birthday wishes out to Laura (Epic Applications founder Derek's girlfriend) who also helps out and well ... lets Derek live despite his obvious BlackBerry and gaming addictions. Happy birthday Laura!

A few weeks back we checked out Call Blocker Professional from Epic Applications. The response was overwhelming, and the app is topping the charts in both the CrackBerry App Store and BlackBerry App World. Call Blocker allows you to easily block numbers and better manage your incoming calls. You can block area codes, specific numbers, whitelist your contacts and even set "quiet times". Call Blocker Professional fully integrates with the Options screen and helps you take back control of all your calls. From now through January 12th, you can pick up Call Blocker Professional for $1.49 (regularly $5.99) in the CrackBerry App Store.

Call Blocker Professional from Epic Applications has just seen a great update come its way. The application has seen many changes and growth in it's lifetime and now this, the 5th revision is brings quite a few changes to it. Call Blocker Professional offers nearly every feature you could imagine for a call blocking app.

Check out the extensive feature list:

  • Pick up and hang up on the caller, or send them to voicemail
  • Extremely quick blocking and efficient operation through integration with Options screen, along with an icon to show you the current mode (Enabled or Disabled)
  • Comprehensive bulk blocking options--private numbers, unknown numbers, numbers not in your contacts, or even all numbers for privacy
  • Easily add numbers from your call logs or contact list, or by entering by hand
  • Block entire area codes (800, 866, etc)
  • Automatically send SMS to callers to let them know you are busy, or any other message you want
  • Automatically turn on and off at given times
  • Whitelist to allow for certain callers to always get through
  • Back up and restore your settings to avoid ever having to re-enter
  • Fully customizable to fit your needs

Having used similar applications in the past and having tested Call Blocker Professional, I would have to say it is my preferred application for this type of service. Call Blocker Professional is fully integrated with the Options screen. It also lets you know when it's enabled by notification icons and updating the app icon on your screen as well (OS 4.7+ only). And best of all, it actually works as advertised and the timer mode allowing you to enable and disable at set timed intervals is awesome. You can get Call Blocker Professional now for only $3.99 until December 31st after which, it will go back to the $5.99 price.
