[ youtube video link for mobile viewing ]

The long awaited Kindle app for BlackBerry is finally here. While not the biggest screen to read on, most of us carry our BlackBerry everywhere we go, so being able to read a book at any given moment is definitely welcome. The app has a fair amount of features (it could still use a few more options) and everything loads super fast. You can store and read Kindle books, as well as browse and purchase from the huge selection in the Kindle Store. Check out the video above for a look at the app, and head to amazon.com/kindlebb to download it free.

Back to School - BlackBerry Style!

Back to School - BlackBerry Style!

Guess what’s just around the corner? Lunch boxes polished, stationary warmed up, backpacks adjusted - it’s almost time for school! Some anticipate the ring of the school bell, others dread it. I chuckle every time I see a Staples commercial playing ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year.’ We’re not there yet, but in a couple of years, our little guy will be joining the ranks. Whether you want to admit it or not, there’s always a sense of excitement around the issue, even in the smallest amount. Be it a new year, new school or a new level of education, your mind races with new possibilities, as well as new worries.

Besides the standard school supply purchases, perhaps a BlackBerry Smartphone has found its way to you. If you haven’t heard already, there are a vast number of applications available to you. After gathering some well thought out opinions, I’ve come up with the main concerns students may face, especially those new to College or University. Based on that, I’ve also picked some applications and solutions that will help you deal with said concerns. Make sure you take notes; who knows if there will be a test on this.

eReader Pro for BlackBerry

There are two things that I find difficult to put down; a good book and my BlackBerry. They both keep my brain sharp (mostly) and keep me entertained. Now, while nothing will, hopefully, replace the book as we know it, there are alternative ways to catch up on the latest book from your favourite author. Electronic Books, or eBooks, have been a great way of sharing cultural works with the world, thanks to the efforts of Project Gutenberg and similar independent organizations.

There are a few eBook readers in the market that are available for the Blackberry; mobipocket reader, wattpad and shortcovers to name a few. For those who had sported Palm, Windows Mobile and Symbian devices in the past, may have utilized eReader to support their bookworm habits. A few weeks ago, Bla1ze announced that eReader has ventured over to the BlackBerry world in beta form. Now, instead of carrying a pocket novel, you can carry around a pocket bookshelf! eReader is brought to you by Fictionwise, which was acquired by Barnes & Noble. I've never read an eBook before, so I was eager to try eReader out.

Worldbook: World Encyclopedia for BlackBerry

Beyond our BlackBerrys, a world lays before us. This multi-coloured ball sits third in line from our sun. Our solar system can be found with countless others in the Milky Way Galaxy, which in turn, is found along with an unknown number of other galaxies within our universe. Wow, we seem pretty small don't we? Almost the size of a trackball. Despite our technological advances, which allow us to communicate with people over vast distances, the world is still a pretty big place.

With the world becoming more mobile, having information right at your fingertips is a must. You may talk to someone on the other side of the planet, but how much do you know about their country? Do you want a broader view of the world besides your city?

Check out Worldbook, the World Encyclopedia for BlackBerry. With Worldbook, you can view a location's economy, government, map view, flags and more. If you're ready for a world adventure, pack your suitcase and follow me after the jump.

After writing reviews for CrackBerry.com for almost year and a half, one would think that I would have run out of words a long time ago.Well................................. I guess I did!

Unless you're a wordsmith, a thesaurus should be found right beside you at all times. If not, you may find yourself writing about the thing, next to the thing, over by the other thing. Your BlackBerry comes equipped with a dictionary to ensure you are spelling correctly. I'm always worried about repeating myself, so simply spelling a word isn't enough. You BlackBerry Users and Abusers deserve better than that. I'll let you in on a little secret, MSDict Concise Oxford Thesaurus aids me in my quest for mastery over the English language. In your hands, you'll have access to over 350,000 synonyms and antonyms.

I ascertain that, once you peruse this application evaluation, you will elect to expand your own vocabulary.

Student Docket for BlackBerry

StudentDocket

When I was going to school, I would look forward to this time of year. Taking a break from classes and trying to fit sleeping into my schedule. Also at this time, I remember myself slacking in the organization department. I would start the school year off with a place for everything and everything in its place. Then, subjects would find themselves mashed in the same binder, becoming a stew of knowledge. Of course by exam time, everything would have to be dissected, as I would find notes and To Dos I had long forgotten about. I didn't have a BlackBerry way back when, if I did, I would also know of an application that would be my study buddy.

Class, please say hello to StudentDocket. Formerly known as StudentBerry, StudentDocket prides itself upon being a task managing application designed with the student in mind. This teacher's pet will help you keep track of assignment due dates, class schedules, teacher information and more.

"Student Life is Hard. We can Help."

Whoa look at the time! We'd better get a move on before we're late again...
