FatFingers on the BlackBerry PlayBook

I wouldn't say that I was a hardcore eBay user but I do purchase quite a few things, more so lately. I don't make big purchases on eBay, it's more of just accessories for my phone, or sports gear, or console games etc. I do like to try and find things at the best price -- meaning at a bargain. There are a few ways to do this and one has been to use a website called FatFingers.

The Buy It Now price is set at £4,799.99 (or just over $7,500 US) and gets you a brand new, limited edition, 24ct gold plated device. According to the listing only 100 of these will be made and each will be marked and numbered. 10% of the sale price even goes to support the Sport Relief charity.

eBay App for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0.0.47 now available

The last version of eBay for BlackBerry smartphones was stuck in the BlackBerry Beta Zone for quite some time but now an even later version has finally been released into BlackBerry App World. Getting a bump from v2.0.0.37 to v2.0.0.47 this release is still missing a change log currently but that will likely come later, once the BlackBerry Beta Zone gets updated with the latest information. For now, it's safe to assume it's bug fixes for the newly introduced features that came with the 2.0 update:

  • Navigation Bar -- shows the currently selected screen and a cursor for when navigating between options
  • Tool tips -- now provided to indicate what the icon on the navigation bar is for
  • Shipping Option -- updated so only one option show at first and the user can add more or remove ones they don’t want
  • Selling items -- When selling an item, the user is provided with several return options when available

If you're a big eBay user -- you can grab the latest from BlackBerry App World. If it's not currently showing for you, sit tight or refresh App World and it will show up soon enough. Thanks, @mannors007!

When the BlackBerry Torch initially launched, quite a few applications were yet to include support for the device. eBay for BlackBerry was among those apps that just were not ready. Today, the application has been updated and is now showing as supported in BlackBerry App World. The latest version shows as 1.0.2.7. We're not sure if any other changes have been made to the application aside from Torch support but at least now it's available for download. If you're not seeing it in BlackBerry App World try refreshing using the ALT RSTR method and it should show up for you provided you're in a country where the application is available.

White BlackBerry Bold 9780 eBay

After playing around with the Torch for a few weeks now and really getting a feel for BlackBerry 6, I can honestly say I'm super excited to get a hold of the BlackBerry Bold 9780. Having BlackBerry 6 running on an updated version of what is possibly my favorite device (Bold 9700) will be killer. Today a white BlackBerry Bold 9780 was spotted on eBay and I'm almost tempted to bid on it -- you know how much I love white BB's. This one even has the factory stickers on the back and is oh so tempting (it's taunting me). As we know, the Bold 9780 is a 9700 refresh and will ship with BlackBerry 6 (w/ WebKit browser), a 5MP camera and boosted 512MB of memory. No official word on when/where this one will land but we're all hoping it's not too far down the road. You can check out more on the BlackBerry Bold 9780 on our rumored device page or swing by eBay if you're feeling bold and want to bid (it's already over $1000 US!). The seller is actually in our CrackBerry forums too, so you can also check out this forum thread for more details.

RIM & eBay team up to promote celebrity auction

Now that we have an official eBay for BlackBerry application, Research In Motion has wasted no time in thinking of ways to help promote said app. When visiting the BlackBerry website and clicking on the features tab, you're shown a really sharp looking promotion for eBay on BlackBerry. Heather Locklear (MPTF Foundation Committee) and Jeffrey Katzenberg (Chairman, MPTF Foundation Committee) are putting on the eBay Celebrity Charity Auction where you can bid on some cool stuff. Things such as celebrity signed BlackBerry devices, a tour of Dreamworks Studios and even a day on the set of Criminal Minds. If you're interested in participating check out the eBay Celebrity Charity Auction page. The auction is live and will end on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 4:00PM PT.

eBay for BlackBerry

The eBay app first popped up late last year in beta form, but we haven't heard much about it since. Today RIM announced the app has finally made its way out of beta and is also available in six countries (in addition to North America) including France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Spain and the UK. With the eBay app for BlackBerry, users can browse items, place bids, check activity and more. The app also integrates with your BlackBerry calendar so you don't miss a thing. Other features include:

  • Daily Deals - View limited time bargains on popular items, where items are often over 50% off the original price and include free shipping
  • My eBay - Access personal eBay activity including Watched items, Bids, Sales, Saved Searches and Favorite Sellers
  • Member Messages - Receive and reply to messages and emails sent through My eBay
  • Payments - PayPal account users can purchase items within the application
  • Re-List Items - Re-list items for sale when current listing ends with no sale
  • Sort Search Results by Distance - Sort search results by distance from location (up to 1,200 miles)

The eBay application is available as a free download for all devices in supported countries.

eBay For BlackBerry Updated: Additional Devices Now Supported

The official eBay for BlackBerry application saw a little bump in versions for the the first time since it's release back in November. Seems some may not have gotten the BlackBerry App World push update for it yet, but in any case if you look in BlackBerry App World now you should see that eBay was updated from from version 1.0.0.38 to 1.0.0.40. Luckily, this time around there is an actual change log within the description of the application its self which states:

This version supports additional devices such as the 8520, 8230, 8350 and 8530 models to widen our beta user base. Minor usability issues and some visual fixes were addressed. Passwords with special characters (e.g. $ & *) are supported. The new version will support 9700, 9520, 9550 and 9530 users shortly.

Interesting changelog with some great changes. Nice to see security updated and a broader range of devices supported. However, a few discrepencies in it as well considering the above picture was taken from a BlackBerry Bold 9700 which according to the log isn't supported with version 1.0.0.40 as of yet. BlackBerry App World did allow me to install it, so I say go ahead and grab it if it's showing for you.

At the BlackBerry Developers Conference today RIM unveiled a new eBay Mobile app for BlackBerry that is "due by the end of the month". I'm very excited (as I'm sure many are) that a long overdue eBay app will finally be landing on BlackBerry. All of the features are there, search for items, view descriptions and gallery photos, bid, see your watched items list and more. The app will feature push notification sending you alerts when you are outbid on an item. You can even add auction end times to your calendar, and choose to receive reminders so you don't miss out on that limited edition Kevin Michaluk Bobblehead. No set date yet, but if the "end of the month" holds true we should see it sometime before January.  Check out the video above for a good walkthrough.

Morgan Stanley Exec Sells BlackBerry on eBayImagine this. You're former executive with Morgan Stanley (lets say for arguments' sake, you were the vice president of mergers and acquisitions).

You are no longer with the company, but need to get rid of the BlackBerry you had been using.

Sell it on eBay right? Sure why not!

But before you do you'll wipe all sensitive data off the device right? Wipe it clean so that the new user can start fresh?

Wrong. Click here to read the rest of this amazing story.
