BlackBerry TK Victory

It's been a little while since anyone has sent in any concept designs for their dream BlackBerry, but today we got a pretty amazing one from DigitalHomeBoy. He calls it the BlackBerry TK Victory and I think it's my personal favorite of all the concepts we've seen so far. Every detail on this device has been attended to, from the "Lotus Glass by Corning" to a swipe-able bezel on the touchscreen, 32GB on-board storage, and plenty more! Be sure to click on past the break for a full run down of features as well as several more pictures.

What do you guys think of this design? Would you rock this BlackBerry if it came to fruition?

We were interupted yesterday from our series of reader-submitted Dream BlackBerry designs by a "Reality" BlackBerry. While the first images of the BlackBerry 10 "London" phone showed a beautiful full touchscreen design (apparently 4.2" w/ a DPI that smokes the retina display on the iPhone 4), our next two submissions are both slider concepts.

BlackBerry PlayBook 3.0 concept

With all the excitement this past week with Research In Motion getting a new CEO, I almost forgot about our DreamBerry movement we have going on. Following up John Anastasiadis' sexy wrap-around BlackBerry concept phone, we have another cool looking mockup to drool over, this one for a tablet. This one was submitted by member ummie4... we'll let him tell you all about it:

Crackberry user ummie4 here. I wanted to show you my design for a DreamBerry! This is my idea for a next generation PlayBook 3.0. To take full advantage of the multitasking of the PlayBook, I wanted my PlayBook to have dual screens, so you can video chat on one screen while you view a Powerpoint presentation on the other. I love the Bold 9900's keyboard so I took the same style keys, made them larger and split them in half. I think a table device with a keyboard layout like this would be really sweet. You can hold the tablet with both hands and thumb type with ease without stretching too far. Above the keyboard are dual trackpads. I still think the trackpad is useful even on a touchscreen device. I think having two trackpads might make gaming controls more interesting than what other tablets have to offer these days. My PlayBook has a flashy brushed stainless steel bezel (like the 9900). It folds closed so you don't need a bulky case or screen protector, it protects itself.

Pretty creative thinking in this one and the logic behind it makes a lot of sense. Dual displays for TRUE multitasking would play to the strengths of BlackBerry 10 and be unique. I guess it's not technically a tablet - but it definitely plays to the book within the PlayBook name. Call it what you want though, I'm loving the out there thinking on this one. And hopefully Skype sees this post and gets their butts in gear to get Skype onto the PlayBook/BB10 (they'll want do it before February 1st or else the CEO is going to be getting a LOT of emails from CrackBerry's Skype petition/email campaign). Be sure to check out a couple more pictures of the PlayBook 3.0 concept after the break!

Now THAT's a BlackBerry SuperPhone

I know what you're thinking... WOW. Just WOW. We've received a lot of great feedback and reader submissions following our Tell Us/Show Us What Your Dream BlackBerry Looks Like post this week, and while I was planning on waiting until next week to start posting some of the sketches and renders up on the blogs, I just had to get this one up asap.

Submitted by BlackBerry fan (and Industrial Designer w/ an MBA) John Anastasiadis, John's BlackBerry Concept is absolutely stunning. Here are the key specs/aspects of the phone as John sees them:

  • Wrap around screen. This allows you to incorporate soft-keys on the underside for gaming, navigation, etc.
  • The asymmetrical shape allows you to know the orientation of the phone (while holding) without having to look at it.
  • There is one hard button that serves multiple functions (screen lock, picture taking, etc.)
  • The phone has some artificial intelligence that can predict if you intended a command. For example, sometimes while using an iPhone it will slip out of my hand, causing me to grab for it any which way I can, thus hitting all sorts of buttons on the screen.
  • The front and back cameras are behind the screen. The screen will illuminate to act as the flash.

What's really kind of crazy and as John pointed out to us, is that this isn't truly a DreamBerry... the technology to build a phone with these sort of features already exists. I'm not sure about you guys, but I wantz one NAO!!

So what do you think CrackBerry Nation? Hot or HAWWWTTT?! Stay tuned for more DreamBerry renders and be sure to sound off in the comments with your reactions. And to see more of John's creations, you can jump over to his portfolio here. Thanks for the submission John... awesome stuff!

DreamBerry

The CrackBerry community got excited and engaged yesterday when we made our post asking you to Tell Us/Show Us What Your Dream BlackBerry looks like. If you haven't sounded off on that post yet or sent us in your own sketches, you still have time, so do it up!!

Of course dreaming it up is fairly easy... the next step, turning DreamBerry into RealityBerry is going to be a little more tricky. I have faith though!

What's Your Dream BlackBerry Look Like?

I tend to have a lot of interesting BlackBerry-related conversations when I get on the road and attend conferences and shows. Last week at CES 2012 was no exception, where I found myself thinking and debating about what the ULTIMATE BlackBerry would look like.

It's an interesting topic to ponder, especially as we're progressing into a sea of full touchscreen devices, which tend to look mainly the same. While BlackBerry captured consumer mindshare with the iconic full keyboard BlackBerry design (pretty much any smartphone with a front facing keyboard gets referred to as a BlackBerry whether it is or not), Apple was first out of the gate with an iconic full touchscreen. Super-sized touchscreen phones definitely scream Android these days, though telling them apart from one another is something only addicts like our pal Phil at Android Central can easily do.

In the past couple of years we have seen a few users put forth their vision for the future of BlackBerry, with designs like Empathy (above left) and the Titan Concept (above right). And we've already had a couple of glimpses of the design direction RIM may be heading in with BlackBerry 10 devices via some sneaky looks at "London" and "Milan" which featured some fairly angular designs, but with QNX-based BBs pushed back later in the year I'm sure RIM's design team is making use of this extra time to further think out and evolve the next-generation of BlackBerry.

Tell Us / Show Us What Your Dream BlackBerry Would Look Like: The CrackBerry community has a lot of smart and passionate users in it who want to see BlackBerry kick butt in 2012, 2013 and beyond, so this is your chance to share your ideas and maybe help influence BlackBerry with your vision of your dream BlackBerry. If you're an illustrator or artist, send in your sketches to editorial@crackberry.com (subject DreamBerry). And if you're not so good with a pencil or photoshop, you can always tell us what you'd want your DreamBerry to look like in the comments (or email them in too). We'll put our BBDoodle sketcher on bringing some of the ideas to life.

This isn't so much a contest as it is us having some fun dreaming about the ultimate BlackBerry, but you know us... we love giving away free stuff, so we'll be sure to reward the best submissions. So that's it. TELL US / SHOW US how BlackBerry can stand out in a sea of smartphones. I'll be working on my mockup too.... There's no deadline on this, but you know how it is, the sooner the better. Good luck and have fun!
