Jennifer Lopez Follow the Leader

Several times in the past we've seen BlackBerry smartphones make appearances in Jennifer Lopez's music videos, as well as in paparazzi shots and her new show Q'Viva!, leading us to believe that she's a long time fan of the platform. The latest video by Wisin & Yandel called Follow the Leader features Jennifer Lopez, and the opening scenes of the video show all 3 singers using Twitter for BlackBerry on various devices. First a white BlackBerry Bold 9900, then a blue Curve 9220, and finally a Verizon branded Bold 9930 all make an appearance. Of course, the version of Twitter for BlackBerry they are using isn't very realistic as it was obviously enhanced for the video, but it's awesome to see nonetheless.

Interesting to note, the video was shot in Acapulco, Mexico where the government was all too happy to provide whatever extra security and the like that was needed by the singers. The State Secretary of Tourism, Graciela Báez Ricardez, said the video clip will help reposition the image of the port. "The music video will be seen in many countries and millions of times mainly by young people who will make decisions on where to go to take a vacation soon," she said.

It seems that every time we post a music video or other form of Celebrity Sighting, there are always comments wondering why we should care about such "trivial" things. If you take a look at the screenshot above, you'll notice that in less than a week from the video being posted on Youtube it's gotten almost 5 million views. That's a lot of views, and since all 3 performers are using a BlackBerry in such a prominent way during the video, it's sure to have some influence on their audience, not unlike the influence that Ricardez mentioned above regarding tourism.

Take a look at the video below, and leave a comment letting us know what you thought! Thanks for sending this in BoldWorld!

Shakira BlackBerry

While using her BlackBerry to get some close up pictures of sea lions swimming near her this afternoon, singer Shakira learned a valuable life lesson: don't get too close to sea lions while holding shiny objects. The singer was shocked when one of the animals jumped out of the water, landing only a foot away from her.

In a Facebook post titled Special Report: Attacked by a Sea Lion, Shakira explained:

Everyone there screamed, including me. I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother "Super Tony" jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast. We both got our hands and legs scratched by the rocks while trying to protect ourselves. I believe what happened is that it confused the shiny reflection of the BlackBerry I was taking these pics with, with some sort of fish. It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it.

So there you go everyone. Make sure that if you're photographing animals with your BlackBerry, you take precautions such as not letting sunlight reflect in a manner they may mistake as food or a threat. I'm going to go one step further and suggest that if you're going to have your BlackBerry that close to water and sea life, you should go ahead and pick up a waterproof case from ShopCrackBerry.

Q'Viva The Chosen

We're big fans of BlackBerry and PlayBook sightings in shows, but this is a little different. ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen is a new show starring Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Jamie King that is sponsored by BlackBerry. These celebrities are on a mission to find the most inspiring performers in Latin America, traveling all over looking for talented performers across 20 countries. The most talented artists will be chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear in a live celebration of music, dance and performance.

I watched a couple of previews and Youtube videos for ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen, and was really pleased to see how much screen time the BlackBerry PlayBook seems to have in the show! They use it for everything, from watching videos of potential candidates, to recording video, and playing it back via HDMI to flat screen TV. What a perfect device to take on such a journey, since they can use the BlackBerry Bridge for internet access while on the road and in villages without modern technology.

You can find out more details about the show as well as how to submit your own videos for consideration and watch more behind-the-scenes footage of the show at the link below, and check out the show's official trailer after the break. The show premiered January 28th on Univision. Thanks for sending this in Chango_BB!!

Kim Kardashian

This might be one of the funniest Celebrity BlackBerry sightings ever. Here, you can see Kim Kardashian is clearly using a BlackBerry Bold 99xx series device but only when you really look at the image does it become amusing.

Yes, apparently Kim Kardashian has trouble keeping up with Kim Kardashian so she's gone ahead and created a Google alert for herself. At least she's got push email to make sure she gets the news as it happens.

Jennifer Lopez has been seen several times with a white BlackBerry Torch 9800 in real life. In her latest video, Papi, she's seen pining over a picture of her and some guy on a BlackBerry Bold 9900! Check out the video above to see it. If you're not into J-Lo, no worries; the scene is first up in the video.

No stranger to the CrackBerry blogs, Will.I.Am. is a well known BlackBerry user and RIM spokesperson. He's performed at WES (now called BlackBerry World Conference), appeared at various product launches, and even had a BlackBerry PlayBook in a Black Eyed Peas music video before it was available for purchase.

The Black Eyed Peas were in France this week, and appeared on French TV show Taratata, performing a mash-up on stage with Belgian artist Stromae. During the song, you can see Will.I.Am pull his BlackBerry Torch out of his pocket, referring to the screen for a good portion of the song. There was speculation about what exactly Will.I.Am was doing, but in an interview following the song it's all made clear. It was their first time performing the song, and as such he didn't know the lyrics well. With so many songs floating around in his head, how can you blame him? And seriously, how awesome is it that he pulls out his BlackBerry to read those lyrics? You can check out the interview after the break. The interviewer asks about him pulling out his phone starting around the 9:40 mark in the video, and Will.I.Am discusses a bit about technology and how it plays into his life and their songwriting.

We have seen music videos in the past showing a BlackBerry Bold and a BlackBerry PlayBook, and now a new video by Pitbull has been released showing off a PlayBook in action once again. The song is called Give Me Everything and features Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer as well. You can see a woman using the PlayBook to view surveillance cameras beginning around the 1:40 mark, and several times throughout the rest of the video. You can check out the video above, or if you prefer there are some screenshots after the break. Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

Air New Zealand has some really clever ads staring Rico, a puppet. Recently Rico teamed up with Snoop Dogg for a new song called Hello Sunshine, which is actually kind of catchy. Throughout the video Snoop uses his white BlackBerry Bold, making calls and snapping pictures of himself and Rico. The behind-the-scenes video has some additional parts with Snoop and his BlackBerry which were pretty entertaining - something about the way Snoop laughs cracks me up. You can check out the music video above, and the behind-the-scenes after the break. The videos do contain some adult language, so use caution if there are children around or you're at work.

Arianna Huffington

First it was actor Josh Duhamel and now it's media mogul Arianna Huffington. What do these two have in common? Well, if you remember back to December of last year, Josh was removed from a US Airways flight for refusing to turn off his BlackBerry. This week Arianna Huffington, co-founder and columnist for The Huffington Post, was on a United Airlines flight. Arianna apparently ignored the captain's instructions to turn off her device as they were about to take off from Dulles Airport in Washington, DC. This allegedly outraged a fellow passenger, causing him to get out of his seat and start causing a scene of Arianna's continued use of her BlackBerry. Law-enforcement sources said the face-off began at 10:10 p.m. as the flight was taking off and the other passenger "advised her to turn BlackBerry off. She was slow in complying."

Another passenger on the flight gave this statement:

I was on a United Express shuttle flight from DC to LaGuardia on Saturday night. Arianna Huffington was in my row. She wouldn't turn off her blackberry, even when we pushed back from the gate; we took off and it became apparent that the phone was still on, which very much upset her neighbor and a burly Brooklyn type a few rows behind her, who started heckling both her and the flight attendant ("Hey lady! Don't you speak English?" "How come she gets to use her electronic devices but nobody else does?"). Nobody seemed to have any idea who she was. When we landed, both she and the heckler were pulled off the plane first by Port Authority cops. The woman who had been sitting next to her said, "Wasn't that Arianna Huffington?" The flight attendant said, "No! I'll tell you who it was," whips out his passenger list, and there she was.

Arianna and the other passenger were removed from the plane when it landed at LaGuardia and questioned about the incident. Both were released without charges. Her rep, Mario Ruiz, said: "There was a passenger who seemed upset. Arianna thought he didn't like the snacks. Guess not. Maybe he was an iPhone fan. As you know, the battle between iPhone lovers and BlackBerry users can get pretty heated."
