BlackBerry 101

Hey folks, remember those cell phone bill shock commercials? You know, the ones where customers would faint, break furniture, or scream when finding a bill with extremely high charges. Those of you who travel internationally have probably felt the sticker shock from a large bill or two. Even those with international data and voice packages still pay higher rates than usual. When traveling internationally, you can can expect to see additional charges on your bill. You'll use data "minutes" when you use the browser, send and receieve PIN; MMS messages; and email, or use an application that accesses the internet. Be sure sure to stand near something soft and cushiony when that international data bill comes in the mail.As a bonus, using the Manage Connections menu is a quick and easy way to turn off your radios during flight operations (a.k.a. Airplane Mode).

Have You Had Your BlackBerry Storm 2 Swapped For A New One?

We've been waiting to see exactly how this one turned out for everyone. But as most of you know the past few days for Verizon Storm 2 owners have been rather interesting. BerryScoop got tipped the news about the possibility of Verizon being reissued Storm 2 devices due to a screen issue. Now while the screen issues seemed to be nowhere near as bad as what they were on the original BlackBerry Storm it did exist for some users. As indicated in the Verizon information, devices were being returned mostly with the lower left hand side of the screen either not working correctly or not working at all. This caused some high return rates for many users out there.

Noticing the problem and working with Research In Motion, Verizon was directed to return all current stock and was reissued a new batch of devices to replace the ones returned. Any customers experiencing issues with their current devices were also targeted through Verizons customer care in the fact if you had an affected device and called you could get a replacement for the improperly working one. The replacement coming in the way of a "Certified Like-New Replacement" or better known as refurbished. So how many of you out there actually had your BlackBerry Storm 2's replaced? Most people I ask state they never had any issues with their release device so I'm guessing the issue wasn't that widespread? Let us know in the comments either way.

By now most users should be aware of the deal Skype and Verizon have in the works. In case you missed it, Verizon will have an exclusive deal with Skype to run their VoIP application on the Verizon network. Aside from a rather slim on info press release we've not heard too much more. Unless, of course you include the information of Skype magically disappearing from other platforms. Today though, Verizon treated us all to a new video posted to their YouTube account. It gives a few more details about how Skype and Verizon will work things and oh ya, be sure to pay attention so you can hear the iPhone smack talk. They kinda snuck that in there.

BlackBerry Storm 2 Coming To Rogers Or Just A Marketing Mix Up?

Kyle over at BlackBerryCool got tipped to something interesting today. The March 1st issue of business week recently ran the above ad in their publication advertising the BlackBerry Storm2. Nothing out of the ordinary about that, unless you look harder into the ad where it says "See all there is to see with BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphones from Rogers and other major retailers". Funny, Rogers doesn't sell the BlackBerry Storm so are they planning on it? Or do we just have a marketing mix up where the ad department just didn't adjust the tag line? Let us know what you think folks in the comments, would you all like to be able to grab a BlackBerry Storm from Rogers?

Rogers Releases White BlackBerry Curve 8520

I don't think we have seen a device have this many colors since the days of RIM releasing the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Curve 83xx series in a whole rainbow of colors. Rogers stores are getting geared up for the release of the white BlackBerry Curve 8520 as noted by Kyle over at BlackBerryCool.

All together that means Rogers will have the 8520 in three colors. White, Black and Lavender. Pick your color, all three are available for $49.99 each with a 3/yr contract. The white BlackBerry Curve 8520 is not currently available on the website as of yet so if you want one, give your local Rogers location a call and see if they have gotten their stock in. If not, you could always grab a white BlackBerry Bold for $99.99 on a 3/yr.

Rogers Drops Pricing Of White BlackBerry Bold To $0.99

Looking to pick up a brand new white BlackBerry Bold 9000? I know a lot of people out there actually love the look of this device and right now if you are a Rogers customer you can pick one up for a totally reasonable price of only $0.99 cents. Yes, you read that right. Standard 3 yr contract will still apply but that's a pretty good price for a new white Bold 9000 folks. Rumor has it the deal will last until January 4th and then will disappear and before you ask, it's the white one only. Guess Rogers wants it to be a white Christmas.
