BlackBerry Style coming to Boost Mobile

Have an urge to try out the BlackBerry Style 9670, but not looking to start up a new contract at Sprint? According to the picture above, Boost Mobile will be getting this device in soon, so you can explore your clamshell curiosities without commitment. For all the jokes I hear about the Style and its unique look, the word from people that actually own one is that it's a great device. I had doubts before it was released, but I took a trip to a Sprint store with Bla1ze one day and decided the design isn't bad at all. And it sure beats the BlackBerry Pearl Flip

According to the screenshot, you'll be able to pick the BlackBerry Style up for $199, though apparently the rumor is Best Buy will have them for $280, so I suppose we'll see when it comes out. Personally I think this is a good move. Summer is underway, but it's never to early to think about back-to-school, and I think flip phones are a good choice for tweens and teens, especially prepaid. Go ahead, make it a BlackBerry!

Boost Mobile Curve 8530

Starting October 14th, Boost Mobile will be adding the Curve 8530 to its current lineup of BlackBerry Smartphones. The $249 device can be paired with a $60 unlimited plan that includes email, voice, text and web. The Curve 8530 features an optical trackpad, media buttons, full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, GPS and more. With its no-contract plans, Boost rings in at one of the lowest priced as far as BlackBerry data plans go and could make a great alternative for those looking to stay free from a carrier contract. Head to boostmobile.com for more information.

Boost 5.0.0.438

Yesterday we noted that the Curve 8330 from Boost Mobile was shipping with OS 5.0.0.438, and now it looks like its officially available for download. 8330 users can jump over to the BlackBerry Software Downloads page and snag the latest update. If you're not on Boost, just remember to delete the vendor.xml file before upgrading and you should be good to go. Glad to see that the 5.0 updates are floating in from various carriers, but as with most of you, yes I'm still wondering when we'll see another official release for the Tour :-)

Boost 5.0.0.438

Boost Mobile officially launched the Curve 8330 a few days ago, and the forums are blowing up with some great news. It looks like the device is being shipped with OS version 5.0.0.438. This is an added bonus for new Boost users, while 8330 holders on other carriers are clamming to get their hands on an official 5.0 OS. This pretty much came out of nowhere, but if you remember Kevin's OS 5.0 update, its really up to the carrier to choose what OS will be installed on the device. It makes sense since the 8330 is new to the Boost lineup that it would carry the latest OS. Drop a comment and let us know your thoughts, and check out the forums for more discussion. Thanks to Terry K for the screencap!

Boost Mobile

Word on the street is that Boost Mobile will offer up prepaid BlackBerry service on January 13th with the Curve 8330. BGR dropped some screens showing the Curve 8330 listed in the Boost system, and from the looks of it, the 8330 will be available for $249 and carry unlimited talk, text and web for $70 a month. I'm a big fan of T-Mobile's FlexPay, so I can only assume that some users who want to stick to CDMA will be all over this. I think that prepaid BlackBerry offerings are a great thing for those who don't want to get wrapped up in a contract, and while the 8330 obviously isn't the "latest and greatest", at least it gives some users another contract-free option.
