BlackBerry 7

BlackBerry OS 7.0.0.317 for the Torch 9810 has leaked now to go along with the same OS we saw earlier for the Bold 9900. No word yet on what the changes are so if you install be sure to drop a comment letting us know how it is.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 Rogers price card

If you're looking to get a BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 on Rogers up in Canada, it looks like your wish will be granted. Confirmation came today in the form of a price card for the device, confirming everything except the actual price, and a date for release. Specs are all listed as we've seen before, with the exception of that "4G" there. What Rogers is really saying is that it has HSPA+ not their LTE service.

Torch keyboard comparison

As Joseph pointed out not long ago, the virtual keyboard on the BlackBerry PlayBook is a little harder for some people to get accustomed to using, in part due to a different layout than that of the BlackBerry Torch/Storm virtual keyboard. As seen in a picture posted in the forums, the virtual keyboard of the Torch 2 9810 (and presumably the Torch 9850/60) will be getting an update with BB7, and will now look a lot more like that of the PlayBook.

What's your opinion on the change? If you're a current user of the on-screen keyboard, will this totally throw off your typing, or is it a welcome adjustment? If you don't currently use it, will the change encourage you to give it another try? Let us know in the comments.

BlackBerry Torch 2

For a while now we've been hearing that the BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 would likely arrive to carriers before the BlackBerry Bold 9900. While that remains to be seen, the evidence supporting that suggestion does keep adding up and the above image showing an August release does make sense.

That said; one thing that doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things is the fact that the device is listed as being the BlackBerry Torch 4G. The BlackBerry Torch 2 has a max of HSPA 14.4Mbps as we've seen in many reviews and even the previously leaked spec sheet. If we had to take a wild guess here, and assuming it does arrive as the BlackBerry Torch 4G -- it's just more smoke being blown in our eyes by AT&T, just like every other carrier the labels HSPA+ as 4G.

BlackBerry Torch 2 device simulator

Two weeks ago we saw the device simulator for the BlackBerry Torch 9850 leak, and today we bring you the the BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 simulator! This is as close as you can get to actually having this device, unless of course, you somehow have this device in which case yay! Sometimes people find fun new stuff in these simulators, like new icons or what-have-you.

Since everyone always asks "What is this for?" when we post this kind of stuff -- it's a device simulator for BlackBerry developers to test their apps on. If you're not a developer or just generally have no interest in playing with a device you can't yet physically touch -- this isn't for you. Cool? Alright then, hit the link below to grab the install file.
