BlackBerry Oxford / Style

According to some newly leaked slides, it looks like the BlackBerry Oxford (aka Style, 9670) will be arriving in Sprint stores October 31st. We've known BlackBerry Oxford to be the codename for the device all along but, the BlackBerry Style name is no longer present here on the these slides. That said, we're left wondering if the device will actually now launch as the Oxford or if the Oxford name was just for the slides. We're not gonna count the BlackBerry Style name out just as of yet but let's face it, the name wasn't exactly favored (fitting?)

Whatever it goes to market as, there will be two versions available. One in gray and one in purple which will launch at a later date. As noted in the slide, the device will cost only $99 after a $100 mail in rebate. Anyone gonna hop on this this BlackBerry 6 powered clam shell when it releases? Or still holding out for a better CDMA BlackBerry?

9670

And Boy Genius has dug up some more leaked training slides for us all too look at. This time around, the BlackBerry Oxford 9670 is put on display. As we now know it's coming to Sprint and Verizon, the detailed overview of the device is still rather interesting. No real surprises spec wise. Clamshell QWERTY, WiFi, GPS all wrapped up in 360x400 display with a 5MP camera and an external 240x320 external display. Now honestly, I've not seen or heard one person say they actually like the look of this device nor can I really say that I'm fond of it. Sound off in the comments folks.

9670

If you're a developer or just interested in playing with an unrealeased device simulator then this is something you may be interested in. The good folks over at BBLeaks have posted up the download links to the BlackBerry 9670 (Oxford) simulator. Pretty cool to play around with if you've yet to go hands on with a BlackBerry 6 device.

I've played with it since last night and digging through some of the files, there is a lot going on that we haven't really seen show up yet even on the BlackBerry Torch. If you're handy at viewing the files you'll see that Torch Mobile has been rather busy with other things aside from the browser. Looks as though Research In Motion has had them working on a few applications. Alas, the download is not for everyone but if ya wanna look into it, at least it's available to do so now.

BlackBerry 9670 (Oxford) - No, it's not the latest revision but it's a good walkthrough

Here's one to credit Salomondrin with today. As mentioned in the video presented here, this walkthrough is from a older hardware revision of the BlackBerry 9670 aka. Oxford. While the device is running OS 5.2 in the video, it certainly gives us an idea of what the growth was in the BlackBerry OS from 5.2 to BlackBerry 6. Of course, with it being a prerelease device we've already seen some changes in the hardware itself. Sal does a good job of highlighting those for us in the video. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show. Just please remember, this is admittedly not the final hardware revison. This a very early revision for sure. Video after the break for you all.
