Coming off their crazy "extreme keyboarding" video, the BBM Challenge Council is moving along, this time dispelling myths about the BlackBerry camera. For this round, Streeter and Amir enlist the help of Leighton Meester as they show off this awesome 360 degree camera rig made up of BlackBerry Bold 9900s. We've got no clue how they fired them off all at the same time, but who cares?! The result is super cool.

BlackBerry 7.1 made available in the Philippines

It seems like RIM wants BlackBerry 7 owners to get downloading BlackBerry OS 7.1. While many carriers across the globe are releasing the OS update, there are also many that have yet to do so. RIM looks to be helping those BlackBerry 7 owners on carriers that haven't yet released it.

We've previously seen this happen in the UK, where only Three and O2 UK were the only carriers to have officially released BlackBerry OS 7.1, then RIM went and released it for the most of the BlackBerry 7 devices. RIM has gone across the world and have made BlackBerry OS 7.1 available in the Philippines. This time around it is only currently available for BlackBerry Bold 9900 owners, Torch and Curve owners are out of luck for the time being. That being said, if you don't mind installing unofficial OS updates you can drop by our forums or check out our BlackBerry 101 on installing leaks and update today.

If you're a BlackBerry Bold 9900 owner in the Philippines visit the Philippine BlackBerry website today to update your device.

BlackBerry 7.1 now available for UK BlackBerry users

A few weeks ago BlackBerry 7.1 became official in the U.K. through two networks. O2 UK were the first to drop it and then Three UK promptly followed suit. While customers have of those networks have been enjoying the updates, there hasn't been any follow up with the other three major networks in the UK. Of course, there are some BlackBerry users who don't mind installing other network udpates but there are some who prefer stock updates and sometimes those users can be left in the lurch when networks don't release them quickly enough.

It looks like RIM has helped to fix that issue and has released BlackBerry 7.1 in the UK for the following BlackBerry 7 smartphones - Bold 9900, Torch 9860 and 9810, Curve 9360 and 9380. For the Curve owners the update brings about and FM Radio app to utilise the built FM Radio on those Curve models. So, if you've been waiting to get your hands on the BlackBerry 7.1 update, get downloading now.

OS 7.1.0.402 has leaked for the BlackBerry Bold 9900. This is an unofficial (leaked) OS, so while it's mostly safe to install, remember to use caution when updating your device. If you need help along the way, you can head into our help forums or check out some of our BlackBerry 101 articles including How to Install or Upgrade to a new OS or How to Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS Using App Loader. If you do install this OS, hit up the forums thread below for findings, fixes and more discussion.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

BlackBerry 7.1 released by Three UK

Yesterday we saw O2 UK become the first UK network to update their BlackBerry 7 devices to 7.1. Today, Three UK has followed suit and announced via their Twitter account that they have released the update for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Curve 9360 and the Torch 9810.

Taking a look at the Three UK BlackBerry downloads page, it seems that the Torch 9810 is for 7.1.0.342, the Curve 9360 is for 7.1.0.336, while the Bold 9900 doesn't look to be showing a 7.1 update yet. So keep checking back as I'm sure it will be there soon.

If you prefer to install official updates then head on to the Three UK download pages and get installing now. Don't forget to backup before you do, even if it is an official update.

Swarovski BlackBerry Bold 9900

It looks like Harrods may have another BlackBerry exclusive for customers with fat wallets. The UK retailer seems to be offering up a custom, limited edition white BlackBerry Bold 9900. While we don't have any details on exactly what makes the device itself so special, it does come in an awesomely stylish box and includes a sparkly Swarovski case. I suppose having a bedazzled Swarovski case is better than sticking crystals on the actual device, but you'd need to have pretty specific tastes to rock this bad boy. No word on the the exact availability or pricing of this package yet, but it looks like it should be available at Harrods new Technologly Floor. If you happen to stumble across one then let us know! Bell has now posted OS 7.1.0.267 to their BlackBerry download page, though previously leaked and not as far ahead as T-Mobile's version -- it's still nice to see they got around to releasing it.
