Bank of America Mobile App

Oh happy day! Finally Bank of America, N.A. shows some love to it's BlackBerry users! With the new upgrade to v3.0.26 available on BlackBerry App World, BofA users will no longer be sent to a URL link to access their accounts. This new update is an actual app similar to what has been available for other platform users for quite some time now. Within the app you now have the ability to view & pay bills, transfer money between accounts & search for banking centers/atms.

When you go to find the app via App World on your phone, it is the old version, v1.1.0 (at least on my BlackBerry it is) which will still be the version that takes you to a URL site. I couldn't get App World to show me the current version. I tried downloading the mobile app via BofA's website and got a "download failed" message. So far, the only way I've seen to get the new v3.0.26 is to download it on your computer and then sync to your device. Still no app for the BlackBerry PlayBook but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Quite some time ago, we gathered together the CrackBerry Guide to Mobile Banking on your BlackBerry; where we covered a large portion of mobile apps and mobile launchers available. One of the problems was that not many users found it useful to have a launcher versus having a bookmark to their mobile banking site of choice. Recently, RBC announced a full-bodied application for BlackBerry users. Following the iPhone launch from last Friday, they took banking convenience “to the next level”. CrackBerry guide to banking on your BlackBerry: part 2

Welcome to part two of the CrackBerry Guide to Banking on your BlackBerry. I hope you enjoyed the first installment, in which we took a look at Bank apps and launchers. In part two, we will be rounding up applications and presenting you with the best of the third party banking and finance tracking applications. Some applications can provide access to your account, just as the mobile site for your financial institution. Others, which have little or no access, can still assist you in tracking how your money travels into and out of your bank account.

If you prefer standing in line, waiting for a bank teller, then read no further. If you yearn to keep your bank account accessibility as mobile as your wallet, then take a look at these applications. Whether you feel confident about mobile access to your account or not, your BlackBerry has you covered.

TD banking application

Maybe I’m a grump, but it seemed to me that a lot of banks would advertise applications for the iPhone. This left BlackBerry users with far more limited access. I was strolling through BlackBerry App World and stumbled upon the recently added TD app by TD Bank Financial Group. Score one for the good guys! This now gives TD customers greater options and actions to choose from, without having to wait in line at the bank or fumbling with a mobile site. The application covers four different areas:

  • TD Canada Trust - The banking option will allow you to access your chequing, savings, credit and investment account information, pay bills and transfer money anytime, anywhere.
  • TD Waterhouse - If you want to get a quote, place a trade, or ask a question, one-touch calling on the investment option makes it easier to contact the TD Waterhouse Investor Service Centre.
  • TD Insurance - In the Auto Insurance option, the Accident Toolkit and Notepad provide assistance when you need it most. These features put help at your fingertips if you are in an accident.
  • Locations - When you need to visit a TD Canada Trust Branch or ABM, the app will help you find the nearest location quickly and conveniently. It also locates TD Waterhouse Investor Centres in Canada; TD Bank stores and ATMS in the US.

The TD banking application is free to use.
