BlackBerry 6 Large File Sizes BlackBerry 6 Large File Sizes

One of the biggest complaints I have seen about the BlackBerry OS has been the very low (2.9mb) limit on file downloads from the internet. Well finally, RIM has addressed this massive complaint and now allows for large file downloads via the BlackBerry browser. As you can see in the screenshots above, I had no trouble downloading the latest CrackBerry Podcast straight from the internet (Bla1ze, you can smile now). While there is no word on what the actual max download is (if any), I have personally downloaded files in excess of 100mb which is all we really need. So if you have a new Torch 9800, get on that webkit browser and download away!

BlackBerry Torch 9800

Ooops..seems AT&T has let the cat out of the bag a little bit early on this one. As you can see, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has just gone live on AT&T website for all too see. Kinda ruined all the fun there AT&T, it's ok though. Stay tuned as we bring you all more information from the live RIM & AT&T event. Thanks everyone for crushing our tips email.

AT&T sending out invites to special BlackBerry event in NYC?!

Word is popping up all over the internet and we too got our invite to a special BlackBerry event to be held on August 3rd in NYC. If all goes according to the rumors, we should be seeing a full blown announcement of the BlackBerry 9800 there although, AT&T nor RIM have specified in the invite what it may be. Time will tell of course but, the pieces are all fitting in nicely here. Who's ready to for the BlackBerry (Torch? Bold?) 9800 on AT&T?!

BlackBerry 9800 and BlackBerry 6 Ready to go for BlackBerry App World?

When the BlackBerry Pearl 3G launched just about 2 months ago now, some new owners were quite saddened by the fact that BlackBerry App World was not updated to reflect the device launch. Launching BlackBerry App World on the BlackBerry Pearl 3G showed you some applications that may have worked on your device but, it also showed you themes that certainly did not work.

Research In Motion seems to be jumping ahead this time around and preparing BlackBerry App World ahead of schedule by already having it listed in the developer portal. This will allow BlackBerry developers to upload already tested applications to BlackBerry App World in time for launch. No telling what, exactly the theme situation will be when it launches considering Research In Motion just not too long ago updated Theme Studio but as expected made no mention of the BlackBerry 9800 at that time.

Here's hoping the SDK's needed for BlackBerry 6 enabled devices are more then readily available to all soon. PS: Developer downloads have been showing the BlackBerry 9800 devices downloading apps from App World for a while now, so I'm guessing field testers and Research In Motion have certainly been putting it to the test.

BlackBerry 9800 coming to Vodafone UK in Sept / Oct?

Since we have AT&T, Rogers pretty much nailed down for the BlackBerry 9800, BBLeaks has been hearing that users of Vodafone UK may soon also be able to get their hands on it as well. Of course, we have to take it all with a grain of salt but a September / October timeframe has been placed thus far. Any Vodafone UK users out there hoping this is more fact rather then rumor? Even if it doesn't turn out to be Vodafone, surely some UK carrier across the pond will pick this device up? You betcha.  BBLeaks also points out that Telefonica, Orange, T-Mobile UK and O2 are currently testing as well.

More BlackBerry 9800 parts go on sale from Truesupplier as launch draws near

If you are among the folks out there who like to modify your BlackBerry devices with custom bezels, housings, trackpads and more then Truesupplier is looking to gail your love. They have most recently pumping out parts for the BlackBerry 9800 in a fashion not really seen with any other device. In the past, in order to get a lot of parts one had to wait until actual release of the device, then more and more parts became available. This doesn't appear to be the case with the BlackBerry 9800. Right now, if you check em out you'll find red, white and black housings available for the BlackBerry 9800 so if you're looking to get ahead a bit on your parts ordering you might wanna check em out.

Wow, check this out. Salomondrin has again teamed up with Terrible Bean to bring us another look at BlackBerry 6. This time, we get the set up video for the BlackBerry 9800. The video walkthrough is quite impressive to see on it's own but I'm really digging the boot animation that gets shown off. Check it out, let us know what you think in the comments. You're turn RIM. Show us something else cool about BlackBerry 6. Maybe have it running on a full QWERTY non touch screen? We'd all enjoy that video.

BlackBerry 6 Media Capabilities

Let's face it, BlackBerry media capabilities in the past have been rather relaxed. Sure, we seen some improvements from OS 4.5 to 5.0 but, nothing drastic by any means. The most promising thing added in my opinion was DivX video playback support. Now that BlackBerry 6 is upon us, we once again see that Research In Motion is extending upon those functionalities for the better. Salomondrin, got his hands on rather nice video walkthrough of those changes running on a BlackBerry 9800. "Terrible Bean" does the walk through for us all. Video after the break folks, looks pretty nice although --I'd have rolled with some better music selections but, that's just me. I overlooked the music based on the fact I got to see the Muppets. ;)

BlackBerry 9800 slider replacement parts for sale; Just how close are we to launch?!?

We've seen this happen before folks and for the most part, the assumption that once parts start showing up on 3rd party manufacturer websites a devices launch is pretty close is a fair and accurate statement. Not in all cases mind you but, it's a good indicator things are getting close. This time around, Al Sacco has spotted some pieces for the BlackBerry 9800 over at Truesupplier. Three items have gone up for sale. A charging dock, a pouch and most importantly, the keyboard replacement pieces for the BlackBerry 9800.

Given that the rumors are placing a August or September release for the BlackBerry 9800, these parts showing up seem to back that timeframe just a little bit more. Not near as fancy as a roadmap with it detailed and outlined for us but, we'll take it since we're likely to see a new device running BlackBerry 6 before the older devices even see a release of it.

BlackBerry WebKit

Here is a nice surprise for everyone as we head into the weekend. The good folks over at Driphter.com have just posted up a pretty nice video of the new BlackBerry WebKit browser running on a BlackBerry 9800. So far, videos have for the most part skipped over showing the WebKit browser so this is certainly the best look at it for now. Hit the video after that jump and let us all know what you think in the cooments. Personally, to me it's looking mighty fine now all we need is RIM to start rolling it out to users.

RIM employee spotted using BlackBerry 9800?!?

We'll let this one speak for itself really. You can take it all for what it is. A poster in the forums with a great story and a pic to go with it. Some will scream Photoshop, some will accept it. In the end, it is what it is. As the story goes from GoBlue in the forums:

A few weeks ago I was at my kids event and saw some person sporting a slider....no big deal I thought until I saw him slide it and saw the BB Logo....I asked him it that was the new BB Slider and he yep. Played with it a few, it was running 6.0. No idea what build. He basically said this would be out in November. I asked how he had and he is in public relations for RIM here in Chicago. I was a huge BB fanboy and if I had not gone Android, I would be creaming. The UI was nice, very smooth and FRIGGIN Fast. Again, I mean no disrespect, I can not answer any questions, just here to say those that are staying BB will definitely enjoy.

Was going to post this weeks ago, but had no proof, and well even with my post count, some would be skeptical. However, weeks later we were together at an "event" taking pictures of our kids after wining a "game" and just saw that I had a pic of it.

It is very small, feels very solid, and again if I had not experienced Android I'd want this phone.

And that's the tale of the spotted BlackBerry 9800. Pretty awesome. Considering I live in Halifax which has a RIM call centre, I've seen my fair share of pre release devices walking the street but, have yet to see a 9800 anywheres while out and about. All I can say is at least it wasn't left in a bar and appears to be getting some real world testing. Hopefully, we'll see a launch soon.

BlackBerry 9800 (Torch, Slider) - Caught on video, yet again

Been waiting to see some more of the BlackBerry 9800? Sure you have. Even if you're still not overly fond of the device, you're curious to see a little bit more of BlackBerry 6 being shown off on the device. This time, Salomondrin has taken the liberty of giving us an up close and personal look at the BlackBerry 9800. At this point, not much else can really be said about the device that hasn't really been said before. All just a little bit of eye candy for those of us waiting. Hit the break for the video and here's to hoping RIM unleashes BlackBerry 6 soon before we all have to riot in the streets with picket signs. No Torches though, as we'll still be waiting for release. Ya, I went there and I'm not sorry.

AT&T BlackBerry Slider 9800

The BlackBerry Slider/Torch 9800 has been pictured plenty of times now, but today it finally let it all out and showed off once again. The latest round of photos snag pretty much every imaginable angle of the device leaving nothing to the imagination. From here on out there really isn't anything on it we haven't seen, although we still don't know for sure just what it will be called or even when it will be released. It's kickin' it on AT&T and running BlackBerry 6, and even though we got our fill on video already, it's never a bad thing to see some more. Plenty of photos over at Engadget to feed your appetite.

Full 16 minute walkthrough of BlackBerry 6 running on BlackBerry 9800 [video]

Earlier today we got some nice high quality pictures of the BlackBerry 9800 slider. Now, we get what was got to be the best video walkthrough of BlackBerry 6 to date. Sure, it's in Chinese considering it came from the folks over at BerryTimes but the language of BlackBerry is universal. Sit back and watch a full 16 minutes of BlackBerry 6 in action. Now, if you'll excuse I need to go wipe the drool off my keyboard. Video is after the jump folks, enjoy.

BlackBerry 9800 Slider

Is it just me of have we had more pre-release images of the 9800 Slider than other devices? This round shows off some good angles and give us a bit more of a look than we've had in the past. Included are some amazingly clear images of the 9800 including the SIM and SD slots. These images really show off the good looks of the device and actually make me want one quite a bit now. The keyboard and screen look amazing in these shots and I'm ready to have one ... now. Hit the jump for some more images.
