BlackBerry 7.1

If you have a BlackBerry Curve 9360 Virgin Mobile Canada, you'll want to keep an eye out for system updates come Feb. 23rd. According to the documentation above, Virgin Mobile Canada will be rolling out BlackBerry 7.1 to its customer base. No mention of what version it will be upon release but OS 7.1.0.258 has leaked already so if you're impatient, you can go ahead and load that up or you can just hit that software update button tomorrow.

Note: Bell, who owns Virgin Mobile Canada has already released v7.1.0.219 for the 9360 so Virgin will likely release the same.

Telus BlackBerry Bold 9790

While Rogers beat everyone to the punch, today Telus, Bell and Virgin Mobile have all made the BlackBerry Bold 9790 available for purchase. If you're in Canada and looking to pick up the Bold 9790, you now have plenty of choices. Prices vary a bit on each carrier, but it looks like Bell and Virgin are the best at $99.99 for a 3-year term. The Bold 9790 is carrying a 1GHz processor, 5MP camera, touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard and is a great alternative for those not wanting the larger Bold 9900.

BlackBerry Bold 9790 and Curve 9380

Carriers across Canada are starting to announce when they'll be releasing the newly announced BlackBerry Bold 9790. Yesterday Rogers and TELUS both dropped some information, with Rogers being a bit cryptic and only saying it will be out "just in time for the holiday gift-giving season". TELUS went ahead and posted their pricing info for the Bold, but no date for release yet. You'll be able to buy the 9790 with no contract for $479, or as low as $129 on a 3-year contract with a plan of at least $50.

As for the all touchscreen BlackBerry Curve 9380, TELUS announced pricing coming in at $369.99 off contract or as low as $49.99 with a 3-year contract. Bell threw out that they will be releasing the 9380 on November 28th, but hasn't let any pricing info out as of yet. I'm sure in the near future we'll be finding out a lot more specific information regarding the availability of these new BlackBerry smartphones. Are you planning on picking up either the Bold 9790 or Curve 9380? Let us know in the comments below.

Bell BlackBerry Bold 9900 coming in white

Looks like Rogers won't be the only Canadian carrier releasing the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in White. Bell is all geared up to release the device just in time for holiday shopping with the date starting on November 24th. As expected, no price point changes are noted in the details. All that's left is the wait time -- who's picking one up? I know Kevin will have one but I'm pretty tempted as well.

9360 Official

Always fun to see three carriers bring the same OS out as an official release for a device that has yet to be released, but if you are a lucky user who happened to snag a BlackBerry Curve 9360, give this a shot. OS 7.0.0.319 is the latest official available for this device, and yours to download now. While it is an official, you will want to be sure you are careful while loading, and be sure to discuss in the forums what kind of results you are seeing

Bell Torch 9860

Bell customers hoping to pick up a BlackBerry Torch 9860 today are facing a bit of disappointment as the device remains unavailable. Though it wasn't officially announced that it would be available August 22, leaked documents two weeks ago had led to that conclusion. It seems now that Bell will be making the Torch 9860 available on August 31st, which is just a bit over a week away. No word on what official pricing will be but, as you can see above, Future Shop will have it available for just $129.99 on a 3 year contract.

Bell Mobility Curve 9360

“Everyone’s favourite BlackBerry Curve just got even better. The sleek and stylish new BlackBerry Curve 9360 is ‘just right’ in so many ways – it comes complete with enhanced specifications”

This is according to a leaked screenshot from Bell regarding the yet unannounced BlackBerry Curve 9360. The really interesting part about this screenshot though, is that it lists the launch date of the newest Curve as August 29th. We've seen lots of pictures of this little guy, but as has been the norm lately, RIM is still tight-lipped on it. Anyone out there planning on picking up one of these new Curves?

New OS 7 BlackBerry Smartphones

BlackBerry OS 7 devices are here (or at least on their way)! The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930, BlackBerry Torch 9810, and the BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 devices are soon to be hitting the shelves in a store near you. Up north, our Canadian colleagues have already managed to snag some of these next generation BlackBerry smartphones for themselves.

The rest of us, though, we wait anxiously for our chance to buy one of these OS7 devices. How long that wait is depends entirely on your wireless carrier and desired device. Scouring the blogs for this information can be a bit daunting; so we did the work for you.

After the break, you'll find our list of six seven major carriers in the US and Canada along with the devices they are rumored to carry. Unless otherwise noted, the information isn't official from the carriers and thus subject to change. Prices listed are promotional pricing only; purchasing a phone off-contract will, of course, cost more.

You're going to want to keep this one bookmarked as we continually update this list with all the latest in carrier pricing and availability. (And once a certain Curve-y device gets announced officically, we'll add that, too)

Bell BlackBerry

Much to the dismay of many BlackBerry users, it looks as though the new BlackBerry 7 line up is not going to be launching with WiFi hotspot capability built into the OS. Now, that's not to say it isn't coming ever. In fact, some new documentation from Bell Mobility shows that is part of the ultimate plan for WiFi hotspot. As noted in the image above you can see not only the release date for the BlackBerry Torch 9860 (August 22nd) but at the bottom you see "WiFi Hotspot functionality will be available via Software update post launch". Accurate? Will it be all devices or just the Torch 9860? Time will tell. Truth be told, the capability was baked into earlier OS' and that's a fact but somewhere along the line RIM decided to take it out.

Bell mobility

With leaked documentation aplenty, Bell Mobility has decided to acknowledge the fact they will be releasing the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860. Although they left out details like release dates and pricing, anyone interested in being notified of availability can sign up to have Bell email them at launch. Plus, you can also win a BlackBerry Bold 9900. Sign up pages are great, but realistically -- we'll have it announced before Bell even gets a chance to send the email off.

Earlier you saw the leaked hardware roadmap, and now we have a couple of shots of some internal screens showing launch dates! Bell BlackBerry roadmap

Bell is up next on the rumored device front with this leaked hardware roadmap that shows off more than a handful of new devices. While there are no dates of the official or coming soon variety listed, it's a good sign to see them in print regardless. Included in the lineup are the both Torch 9810 and 9860, Bold 9900 and Curve 9360. Again, here's to hoping we don't have much longer to wait before we hear some official dates for all carriers on these devices.
